To the Mattresses is a Railroad radiant quest in Fallout 4. It consists of a chain of six quests. After completing the quest The Nuclear Option, the Sole Survivor should speak with Desdemona. She will tell them that since the Institute is no longer a threat, the L&L Gang is now the greatest threat to the Railroad. She will assign the Sole Survivor to eliminate one of the gang bosses.

100 Kill (boss)The Synth-hating L&L Gang is the greatest single threat remaining to the Railroad with the Institute out of the picture. Desdemona has a lead on them. And my job is dealing with it.
200 Report to DesdemonaThe L&L Gang is a little smaller thanks to me. Desdemona will want to hear the good news.
250 Report to Desdemona - After killing Sally on final missionWith the fall of Captain Sally, the L&L Gang has finally been put down. Everyone back at HQ, especially Desdemona, will want to hear this.
300Quest finishedQuest completeDespite my work, The L&L Gang is still out there and potentially putting our people and Synths at risk. Hopefully Desdemona will have more intel on them soon.
350Quest finishedQuest complete - final missionRaiders will be a problems for Synths and humans alike, but the Synth hating L&L Gang won't be plaguing us any longer.

  • When a boss is located at the Quincy Quarries/Vault 88, they might die due to the radiation. In this case, the quest just updates and one can report to Desdemona.
  • In Kendall Hospital, the boss will spawn in the same area as the deathclaw. If the deathclaw is still alive, it will most likely kill the raiders on its own.

Behind the scenes

The name of the quest is a reference to the term "go to the mattresses", a mafia term which means to go to war with another gang or family. The name comes from the practice of renting out safe apartments and laying down mattresses for a mafia family's soldiers to sleep on while preparing for making a move against a rival. Most notably, the saying was used in the movie The Godfather, the novel of the same name by Mario Puzo, and the TV show The Sopranos.

  • Has platform::Playstation 4Playstation 4 Desdemona refers to Glory as deceased during initial dialogue for the first mission instance, regardless of whether or not Glory has been killed. This occurs if one sides with Brotherhood up until Tactical Thinking, then follows the Institute quest line up until Mass Fusion, then sides with the Minutemen. Glory will still be alive, even though a normal playthrough would have seen her die. [已验证]
  • Has platform::PCPC If Operation Ticonderoga was not started after The Nuclear Option, Desdemona will not talk to the Sole Survivor about the L&L Gang and stays silent; this saves High Rise and the Safehouse from attack but locks the player character out of the extra quests. [验证逾期]
