到2277年時，河流在首都廢土的流量似乎基本停止了，因為整個地區都是乾旱的。大部分乾涸的河床有少量具有中等輻射量的水，並且充滿了碎屑。泥沼蟹在河邊有水的地方安家，當地人會獵殺它們作為食物。在淨水計劃激活後，它的潮汐盆地將充滿乾淨的純淨水，導致兄弟會不得不清除衝上岸的泥沼蟹屍體。
