到2277年时，河流在首都废土的流量似乎基本停止了，因为整个地区都是干旱的。大部分干涸的河床有少量具有中等辐射量的水，并且充满了碎屑。泥沼蟹在河边有水的地方安家，当地人会猎杀它们作为食物。在净水计划激活后，它的潮汐盆地将充满干净的纯净水，导致兄弟会不得不清除冲上岸的泥沼蟹尸体。
