Point Pleasant is a town in the Forest region of Appalachia.
Background[]
Point Pleasant sits on the shores of the Ohio River, opposite the town of Gallipolis. The Silver Bridge collapsed during heavy traffic on December 15, 1967, and many drowned in the river.[1]
It featured the Mothman Museum attraction, dedicated to one of Appalachia's most well known cryptids.[Non-game 1][Non-game 2]

After the Great War, The town was controlled by raiders for some time.[Non-game 2] Then, it was a Responders outpost.[Non-game 2] Operating out of the converted church, the Responders held out until Appalachia fell to the Scorched.[3][4] The town remained a nest of Scorched activity in the following years.
When the Dwellers of Vault 76 rediscovered the town in 2102, the North Road Bridge which had replaced the Silver Bridge had similarly collapsed. At the waterfront outdoor auditorium, they found human remains arranged on a table in a grisly display, indicating cult activity at some point.
2103年后，天蛾人邪徒们sect known as the Followers of the Winged One赶来收复， and the corrupt vines which infested the basement of the Mothman Museum had come to cover the entire town. Several large effigies of Mothman were constructed from the bones of an unknown aquatic creature and hoisted prominently at the southern bridge and the church which overlooks the town. The collapsed North Road Bridge was converted into a shrine.
In 2104, the Enlightened reclaimed the town for the first time, and constructed several new structures, including a third Mothman effigy by the water. Each Mothman Equinox, the town temporarily comes under their rule.
Layout[]
The ruins of Point Pleasant are set up as three tiered streets descending to a waterside outdoor auditorium. In 2103, the Cult returned to their pre-War territory and added fortifications, altars, and totems throughout the town. Most buildings are boarded up and inaccessible, but the rooftops are well connected by makeshift walkways. The South Road Bridge entrance is an ominous, heavily guarded gate. The North Road Bridge has collapsed into the Ohio River. Foliage has been amassed here overwhelmingly, creating a central fecund prayer space. Marigold Pavilion overlooks the town from a hillside to the west.[Non-game 3] Bonfires dot the road leading north out of town. A burning effigy is located at the intersection closest to the church. By the river, cultists kneel before a central towering shrine.
State Route 81 is situated to the west, running alongside the river until branching off by the main Responder outpost in the church to the east. The church was used as a medical aid staging area and contains a safe, medical loot, a chem station, medical supplies automated vendor as well as the remains of the former faction. Jeff Lane's second-story apartment across the street from the Mothman Museum. The same street contains a store containing a safe. The closed storefront of Bernardo's is nearby. North of this block is an open garage with a potential power armor spawn. Down the the road behind the museum is an ammo vendor and a weapons workbench.

Behind the scenes[]
- In real life, the Mothman statue at Point Pleasant was not erected until 2003, six years after the release of the original Fallout.
- A reference to the 1988 film Beetlejuice can be found at the church in Point Pleasant. On the outer wall facing the graveyard, a door has been drawn in chalk, complete with an "O" for a doorknob. In an important scene from the film, Adam Maitland draws a door on a similar brick wall, and the door opens after following the instructions in the "Handbook for the Recently Deceased."
