“I've got this recipe for a deathclaw omelet that I've been itching to try out. Trouble is I need a death claw egg. Kind of obvious. I suppose.”— Jas Wilkins
When exploring around the mining town of Sloan north of Goodsprings, one can meet town cook Jas Wilkins in the mess hall. Jas will ask about the tastiest thing the player character has ever eaten. The player character can respond plainly, question the question, or use the Cannibal or Ghastly Scavenger perks to provide a unique, grisly answer. Regardless of their answer, Jas requests their help fetching a deathclaw egg so she can try her hand at a family recipe to create what she calls a "deathclaw omelet." She offers to hand over her copy of the recipe as a reward and allow the Courier to make their own omelets.
While Jas will suggest trying to find the egg at the nearby deathclaw nest in Quarry Junction, it is not necessary to get one from there. Since eggs have a chance to drop randomly when killing any deathclaw in the game world, one can instead attempt to gain one by traveling to other deathclaw-infested areas like the Gypsum train yard, as there are no special deathclaws located there (save for blind deathclaws at higher levels). One may also get the eggs from Dead Wind Cavern, though that comes with the risk of fighting deathclaws in close quarters, including the legendary deathclaw.
Once an egg has been successfully obtained, return to Sloan and hand it over to Jas, garnering a pre-prepared omelet as well as the omelet recipe and completing the quest.
Notes[]
Jas refers to the dish as a "deathclaw omelet" despite both the Pip-Boy and the recipe itself calling it a "wasteland omelet."
Behind the scenes[]
If asked about the recipe's origin, Jas mentions her great-aunt Rose in Modoc was the one who created it, using eggs harvested from a mother deathclaw until "a stranger" came along and killed it with a shot to the eye. This is a reference to Rose, the owner of Rose's Bed and Breakfast in Modoc in Fallout 2. In Fallout 2, the Chosen One can optionally kill the "chicken" providing Rose's eggs, which was actually a mother deathclaw, and Jas implies they canonically did so.
