The Yangtze River (Chinese: 长江) is the longest river in Asia. It was the location of the Yangtze Campaign, a military campaign during the Sino-American War.
Background[]
Before the Great War, the United States Armed Forces led a campaign here, with the outcome of the mission unknown.[1] The river was heavily fortified by Chinese artillery, posing a threat to U.S. Air Force pilots as well as unauthorized civilian aircraft.[2]
A memorial to the fallen of the campaign was constructed in the Mojave desert.[Non-game 1]
Notes[]
- A Chinese internment camp at the Big Mountain Research and Development Center was named after this river.
- "Yangtze" was also used as the name of a class of Chinese nuclear stealth submarines.
- Lennox, a U.S. Air Force pilot who was in China before the Great War, once flew an unauthorized supply run over the Yangtze River in a civilian aircraft, and mentions managing to outmaneuver Chinese artillery fire.[2]
Appearances[]
The Yangtze River is mentioned in Fallout 2, Fallout: New Vegas, its Official Game Guide and add-on Old World Blues, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76.

Most locals can't rightly remember the exact reason for the large cross on the hill northeast of Goodsprings [4.05], but it honors the fallen of the Yangtze Campaign after the Chinese invaded Alaska in 2066, and the United States fought back, deploying to the Chinese mainland in a long and bloody war that ended with the 2077 holocaust. There's a Hollowed-Out Rock here, and a warning of Deathclaws in the Quarry Junction [4.04] to the northeast. Northwest is an Abandoned Shack [4.S05] that's well worth checking out. Use the memorial as a landmark."
