The Y-0 research center is a location in Big MT in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Background[]
Prior to the Great War, the Y-0 research center was assigned to the design and development of the vending machines that were created at the behest of Frederick Sinclair to be installed at the Sierra Madre. At some point before the nuclear apocalypse, the final design was achieved and Sinclair's requisition order fulfilled, though the Y-0 staff personally held reservations about the nature of the businessman's collaboration with the Think Tank executives to gain access to such technology.[1]
Layout[]
Situated northeast of the X-22 botanical garden and northwest of the Forbidden Zone dome entrance in the cardinal north side of Big MT, the location consists of two broken military trucks with broken cages blocking the entrance into the research center itself. Next to the blocked "entrance" on the left side is an active terminal.
Notable loot[]
- A copy of Big Book of Science - Near a skeleton and a duffle bag south of the two trucks.
- Recipes - Melee Weapons skill book - Found near a skeleton and a duffle bag on the roof of the research center, accessible by climbing on one of the trucks.
Notes[]
- A random broadcast over the Big MT intercom from Doctor Mobius mentions that Doctor Klein destroyed Y-0 due to an unspecified mathematical error, though he also comments that he doesn't remember if it actually was Klein or himself.[2]
- According to a script note in the conversation's dialogue file within the G.E.C.K., Klein was indeed responsible for the research center's destruction.
- There are four or five xander root plants on the path to the west from the roof where the Melee Weapons skill book recipe can be found.
Appearances[]
The Y-0 research center appears only in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
