The X-7b "Boom Town" target zone is a location in Big MT in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Layout[]
Situated north of the Y-17 medical facility and slightly west of the X-8 research center in the cardinal east side of Big MT, the location consists of a mock settlement set up for the express purpose of testing the performance of Saturnite artillery shells loaded and fired from the X-7a "Left Field" artillery launch facility on the opposite side of the crater. The entire area is irradiated as a side effect of weapons testing, with craters full of green radioactive material.
Notable loot[]
- Nuka-Cola Quartz and Nuka-Cola Victory - In the house to the northeast of the area.
- Atomic-valence tri-radii-oscillator and Recipes - Guns skill book - Can be found inside a footlocker in a crater north of the western-most house. Requires firing the fixed gun located at the X-7a "Left Field" artillery launch.
- Four bottles of Battle Brew - Found in a strange cask (wooden barrel) can be found on top of a hill outside the fence, just northwest of the footlocker. The cask can be moved, and items can be stored within it.
Notes[]
When fast traveling to "Boom Town," arriving will reveal a bombed-out building with a red Old World flag symbol left by Ulysses.
Appearances[]
The X-7b "Boom Town" target zone appears only in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Behind the scenes[]
The location's name is a reference to the real-world "Survival Town", created during the testing of the Apple-2 nuclear bomb at the Nevada Test Site on May 5, 1955. The location consisted of an assortment of buildings including residential houses that were populated with life-like mannequins and stocked with different types of canned and packaged foods to study the impact of the nuclear fallout upon the structures and items.
