The wreck of the FMS Northern Star is a location in the Commonwealth in 2287. It is populated by ghoulified, Norwegian raiders.

Layout[]

Enter by climbing the metal crates inside the wreck and go toward the ship's stern, up a flight of stairs. Boarding the deck and approaching the bow, a lifeboat can be found which will lower the Sole Survivor down.

There is a cooking station located on the top deck right before the wooden shacks at the front of the ship, and a chemistry station in the wooden shacks.

Notable loot[]

Related quests[]

  • Quartermastery: Scribe Haylen has identified the location of a piece of technology she wishes to retrieve and catalog. She asks the Sole Survivor for help in bringing back the technology in one piece.
  • Randolph Safehouse: The Railroad agent Mister Tims will leave dead drops in the form of six holotapes for the Sole Survivor, containing information about possible hazards to the Railroad's escort and escape of synths out of the Commonwealth. They can assist in these efforts by clearing out the location of hostiles.
  • To the Mattresses: The synth-hating L&L Gang is a major threat to the Railroad. Desdemona has a lead on them and asks the Sole Survivor to help neutralize their members.

Notes[]

  • While the entire crew speaks Norwegian, the terminals controlling their turrets are interfaced in English.
    • When encountered, they will tell the Sole Survivor "gå vekk" and "la oss være i fred" - meaning "go away" and "leave us alone," respectively.
    • When one dies, the others may exclaim "du drepte han!", meaning "you killed him!" Their last words upon death are often "jeg kommer hjem...", meaning "I'm coming home..."
  • The pilothouse is almost identical to the ones seen on tugboats.
    • The terminal in the pilothouse is one of the only ones known to display the "hidden subroutines" of the Turret override program holotape.
  • Just off of Spectacle Island, there is a sunken container ship identical to the FMS Northern Star.
  • If pacified with Intimidation, the raiders will remain silent for as long as they are non-hostile.

Raider quotes[]

Appearances[]

The wreck of the FMS Northern Star appears only in Fallout 4.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Some of the subtitles and pronunciations do not match one another. The line "Hva hvil du med us?" (What do you want from us?) is supposed to be "Hva vil du med oss?" and the line "Du vil angre angripe oss!" (You will regret attacking us!) should be "Du vil angre på å angripe oss!"
  • The ship is likely based off of the MS Nordstjernen (The North Star), which was the longest serving ship in the Hurtigruten at the time of her retirement in 2012. She is protected as a piece of Norwegian national heritage.

Bugs[]

  • PCPC Playstation 4Playstation 4 Xbox OneXbox One When boarding the boat lift to go down, only the control button may go down, while the boat stays put. Fast traveling away and then back may fix the problem. [verified]
  • PCPC Playstation 4Playstation 4 Xbox OneXbox One It is possible to become stuck in the north central area of the hold between several rusted crates. [verified]
    • This can be resolved by wearing power armor that has the jetpack modification and boosting oneself out.
    • On PC, this can be resolved by using the console command tcl to clip through the crates to the other side.
    • If all enemies have been defeated in the area, one can also fast travel to return to the fast travel spawn point.
