The wooden crate and explosives crate are containers in Fallout 4. The wooden crate is also a settlement object.
Characteristics[]
Wooden crates are often used to store all kinds of junk items; although, on occasion, they may contain weapon or armor pieces. Explosive crates are solely used to store explosives.
Crafting[]
In Fallout 4, the wooden crate is located under Furniture → Containers in the workshop.

Variants[]
- Ammo box - A specific crate in the Castle's armory which contains flares, and will also hold artillery smoke grenades and vertibird signal grenades if the relevant Minutemen main quests are completed. Not to be confused with the standard green ammo boxes found across the worldspace.
- Explosives crate - Often found in and around Gunners and raider camps. Contains random explosives, often including fragmentation grenades.
- Sharpshooter stowage - Found on the Prydwen's forecastle. It contains a modded laser rifle.
Locations[]
Wooden crates are usually found in warehouses and camps, frequently seen in most locations across the Commonwealth.
Bugs[]
Regular wooden crates may open only once, always appear partially open, or the "Transfer" ability may do nothing. This does not apply to explosive boxes, however.[verified]
