“Well, it's no secret that the ol' water treatment plant is on its last legs. And I'm the only one in town that can keep the damn thing running.”— Walter
Whenever Walter isn't outside taking a smoke break, he can be found inside during working hours, tinkering with the various machines within the plant to try and keep it running. Speaking to him will initiate the unmarked quest Treatment, after this is completed Walter's Scrap Metal can be obtained.
In the back room is Leo Stahl's desk, which contains his stash of chems.
The locked desk remains named "locked desk" even after the lock is picked.
The water processing plant is possibly Megaton's only source of water, as the residents are very stingy towards giving outsiders water.
Appearances[]
The Megaton water processing plant appears only in Fallout 3.
Behind the scenes[]
A pre-release shot of Megaton, with the water processing plant in the background. There are no water tanks on the roof of the building.
Bugs[]
PC Walter still describes problems with a possible water shortage and/or contamination even after Holy Water (Broken Steeladd-on) is completed. [verified]
PC When the pointer is aimed at an object or person in the plant then moved off that object, the cursor will flicker and show the drink option for a split second, and timed correctly you can drink from the object or non-player character and gain HP and a few rads but note the "drink" text is red and doing so is considered a crime. PC In case Walter is missing see his article for solutions. [verified]
