Vigilant Recycler is a perk in Fallout: New Vegas.

Effects

Waste not, want not. When you use Energy Weapons, you are more likely to recover drained ammunition. You also have more efficient recycling recipes available at the wasteland's Workbenches.

The efficient recycling recipes make you twice as likely to recover drained cells when you use Energy weapons, reduce the cost of recharging drained cells from four to three.

Another test of this perk: Weapon: RCW, 400 rounds of electron charge pack: 32% Base Recovery Rate, 54% with Perk. Effective rounds recovered: 8% Base, 18% with Perk.

Patch 1.3.0.452:

  • Weapon: RCW. 1000 cells of electron charge pack.
  • 725 of Drained electron charge pack recovered, recycled to 241 electron charge pack.
  • 361 of Drained electron charge pack recovered, recycled to 90 electron charge pack.

Notes

  • No other materials are needed to craft energy ammunition.
  • Also affects flamer fuel.
  • This perk can be great for giving (near) infinite energy weapon ammunition, especially if you have Veronica, or ED-E as a companion to craft the ammo on the go.
  • Does not have an effect on the Microfusion breeder ammo used by recharger weapons.
  • The Gun Runners' Arsenal adds new optimised energy weapons ammunition when this perk is taken, which is lighter and more powerful than Overcharged ammo, has the same DT reduction, puts less strain on the weapon and even weighs less, all for the same ammo conversion rate.

Bugs

  • Taking this perk will sometimes permanently alter the workbench crafting list, and will prevent new schematics from appearing at the workbench.
