The Vault 22 cave door keycard is a miscellaneous item in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background

This keycard was owned by Dr. Bailey, an administrator for the food production division in Vault 22.

Characteristics

This keycard is used to access the caves on the food production floor of Vault 22. The cave is the only way to reach the room with the 6 HEPA 20 cartridge filters needed for the quest Still in the Dark, although that entrance can be bypassed if the Vault elevator is repaired. Furthermore, a large number of mantis ootheca, containing mantis eggs, can be found there, usable for Bleed Me Dry.

The keycard does not directly unlock the door. Instead, possessing the keycard will change an entry on the nearby terminal to unlock the door automatically.

Location

In the Vault 22 common areas, on the lower level of the atrium, past an Average-locked door marked Quarters. This lock can be bypassed using the terminal in the overseer's office. Past the Quarters door, the keycard is located in the first room on the left. Just inside the room door on the right is a shelf. The keycard is sitting on a stack of papers on the shelf with the lamp. There are three spore carriers hiding in this room (Dr. Bailey and his family) who are likely to turn hostile when approaching.

Notes

While it may be convenient to use explosives in the rooms to try and badger out the spore carriers, this can cause the keycard to be flown to another location in the room, forcing the player to rummage around in thick flora in order to obtain it.
