You have been given a pain in the ass.
Your efforts and diligence have not gone unnoticed, and you have been given a small token of appreciation.
For taking up the reins and working on those damn charts. Seriously, they're a pain in the donkey. Good work on the Wasteland Survival Guide one. It looks fantastic.  The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg.png 20:21, May 9, 2013 (UTC)
That's a beautiful quest chart! Quality work. Must haven taken you a lot of time and figuring out. This just may be the best chart we have. Jspoel Speech Jspoel.png 20:27, May 9, 2013 (UTC)
Did you know they're also using quest charts on the FNV Prima guide? I was going to direct to that for some help maybe but on second thought you'd better not. The quest takes about three A-4 pages of charts over there... Jspoel Speech Jspoel.png 21:31, May 9, 2013 (UTC)

Chart Reviews[edit source]

Hey Paladin! I did your reviews and I'm happy to say (after one minor fix) they all passed. I must commend you on your work you've done with these charts. They really have been quite something and I must say they've all looked amazing. I'll past the notice of the projects completion onto Gunny and Vic to offically finish it off. Once again, great work on the charts Paladin. --The Old World Relics (talk/blog/contributions) 14:57, May 12, 2013 (UTC)

See we can work togeather[edit source]

That Deathclaw page was flooded with run on repetitive crap. I edited what I could.

  • My point is ~ Thank you for reading that bit and fixing the minor issues to keeping what was acceptable.

I would so much rather laugh and just share a love of these Fallout games that bicker with anyone. So thank you for just fixing what I did not notice was wrong instead of just wiping away my good intentions.

If we all work together this place can be booth Fun & what is the word for grammatically correct. Oh yeah, also fun.

Apprentice Entry[edit source]

I hate to ask this of you, but I know how amazing you are with the charts, and I'm having a lot of trouble creating the charts for my entry. Is there any chance that you could help me out there? You can find my main entry here. I'll perfectly understand if you'd rather not since this is a competition and all. ForGaroux.png Some Assembly Required! 06:37, May 23, 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for the positive feedback! I didn't get a chance to last night since I was up until 4 in the morning finishing my entry, but I'm going to start reading yours right now. :3 You wouldn't happen to have any friendly criticism? ;D Also, the chart looks great! Adding it now, and thank you again. ForGaroux.png Some Assembly Required! 16:38, May 23, 2013 (UTC)
I have to say that I'm really enjoying your entry. I was focusing a lot more on the actual quest-line and consequences across the wastes, while you really set a personality for WaNe that I should have done for Pontifex and Mr. New Vegas. I also have to say that I particular enjoyed the fact that you found a way to bring Victor back from the dead, even after Mr. House's demise. :P Really, the only critique that I can come up with is that there are a bit too many choices to avoid or quick-jump WaNe during encounters, leading to what I'm personally imagining as a bit of an anti-climatic final clash between the Courier and A.I. ForGaroux.png Some Assembly Required! 16:57, May 23, 2013 (UTC)
Take whatever ideas you'd like. :) I know that I'm working on one of your strong points right now to at least provide a couple of pages for the two A.I. and give them a bit more personality. Salvaging the Apprentice[edit source]

Hi, I'm relaying this around all judges and contestants. Please forgive the lack of personalisation as I'm just going to cut/copy so everyone gets the same message.

This month has been a particularly hard one on people. As you may or may not be aware, Saintpain has pulled out, as has Relics. GL has had some technical issues which she's just getting over and I'm working with her to get her entry in as quick as we can.

The good news is that if you're reading this, you've already won a prize (with this in GL's case being conditioned on a complete entry being submitted). The question is where do we go from here, and what happens to that 5th place (and potentially 4th placed) prize.

I don't think there is a need to abandon the game at this stage, but we do have the following options to continue

  • This round is treated like round 1. No elimination voting due to the number of people pulling out. We'd still have a peoples choice vote. On one hand, it harms the credibility of the game by skipping a vote, but it keeps things mostly on track. Obviously this would require GL to submit.
  • Triple Elimination round. 2 have already gone, and we let people vote off a third (or if GL cant complete, count this as the third). This means the next challenge is the Semi final round, followed by the final. It draws things shorter, but the game is on track ruleswise.
  • We bring back someone. This could be a return of Leafless, or soemone from the qualifier. Not exactly fair on those of you who have had to compete to date to give someone a "free walk" though, or to undo a vote.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the second option.

with the 5th Rank prize, I think there 4 options, we split it between Relics and Saint; We give it to Saint (as he informed me before deadline of his intention to pull out); We give it to leafless (for being on time all the time and the 5th place if we ignore those who resigned), or we save it for some other contest later.

I like all those options pretty evently.

I'd appreciate your thoughts. Hit me up here, or on Skype if you have my details, or email the nukapedia email address with your thoughts. Agent c (talk) 16:45, May 29, 2013 (UTC)

Sally[edit source]

That's a good question, although I'd attribute it more to complacent writing. Don't you think she'd have mentioned something if the aliens had indeed modified her? In any case, I have now confirmed that it's radiation that make a human pure or not. Since there are no tests involving radiation on Mothership Zeta, she is still to be considered a pure human. See:

  • "First, Chris Avellone seemed to prefer the "FEV explains everything" theory of mutation. He suggests that when the Glow was hit by the Chinese warheads, the tanks holding the virus burst and the FEV was vaporized and shot into the air. It was then mutated by the radiation from the blast, and went on to help radiation create the various mutant animals we know and love as well as ghouls. The problem with this theory is that first off it's a bit redundant since Fallout radiation is already fully capable of producing the mutations seen in the gameworld. Second, we know from the Lieutenant's mention of inoculation from mutant FEV that any airborne strain of FEV could not cause these mutations. If it did, why didn't any humans mutate from exposure to the airborne FEV? Furthermore, if radscorpions, geckos, molerats, deathclaws and other creepie-crawlies are all products of FEV, how can they breed as much as they do? Remember, FEV causes sterility. Avellone eventually admitted that he was wrong, and that most mutations in the Fallout world were caused by the ambient radiation."

Good point, I'll go ahead and scrap the 1 in a moment. Is everything else to you liking/approval? This is the full test so far. Read it again and you just might see how with out any type of mocking on my end.. You made my point

"Quote" Where is the canon? Edit I see a lot of references. Most are non-canon. Dose any one have a full list of all the links to stuff that never appeared in any game ?

  • At what point is it too much speculation drawn from non game "content" ?

If this is a fan fiction I am more than cool with it. The best fiction always draws from the base canon.

I just don't see any line here between game fact and almost got published fiction. This bears examination. If I misread the article and this in fact just a fan fiction, then in that case, I bow & I congratulate your ability to write reference bar codes.

SaintPain→ That was broke afore I got here." 04:39, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

Well, this is very quick math, but I just checked and out of the 13 paragraphs in this article, only 2 of them are of content that didn't appear in the series, with 1 more considered non-canon. So, if you can't find the canon content in the remaining 10 paragraphs... I don't know how anyone could help you. Paladin117>>iff bored; 04:52, May 31, 2013 (UTC) Where is the canon? Uh, the whole article. 05:01, May 31, 2013 (UTC) Cut to the chase :

"Quote" 2 of them are of content that didn't appear in the series, with 1 more considered non-canon. "End Quote"

Thank you for breaking down my point.

You can drag it out over many paragraphs, maybe even pages.. The content that NEVER appeared in game is less than canon. As such it should remain no more than speculation. SaintPain→ That was broke afore I got here." 05:09, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

"End Quote"

I honestly believe we can work together.

Featured articles committee[edit source]

Hi Paladin117! I would like to invite you for a seat on the Nukapedia featured articles committee. Our goal is to select and approve articles to be used in our featured articles rotation (that shows up on the front page). I have written some criteria here and I believe our first step should be to discuss and make any necessary changes to the criteria. After this, we will check which of the current articles in the rotation are high-quality enough to keep. From there, we can set up a forum page so users can nominate articles or otherwise go through a list to find appropriate ones to add to the rotation. Keep in mind that being on the committee will require some degree of consistency and frequency in checking on the wiki, although it can be at your own convenience. Please let me know whether you are interested in being on the committee. --Skire (talk) 19:29, June 5, 2013 (UTC)

Alright, I'm in. How would we discuss this? In chat? I'm usually on daily, even if I can't find any edits to make. Paladin117>>iff bored; 03:59, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
We might require a few chat private meetings, but for the sake of convenience I will keep those to a minimum or even none if we can do without them. The goal is to just assess articles and vote on whether you think they pass the criteria. --Skire (talk) 20:34, June 6, 2013 (UTC)

Videos[edit source]

I undid that nominate for deletion tag on a video. We can't use the youtube extension anymore after Wikia latest wednesday update. It automatically uploads the video file, no matter what you do. We need to revise our video policy. Jspoel Speech Jspoel.png 14:13, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

It's a permanent change. Now, once you make an edit on a page with a youtube extension and save it, it's converted to a video file which is then uploaded. See here. Jspoel Speech Jspoel.png 14:26, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

GECK/Vault[edit source]

Hey Pally,

Just saw the PM you left me that I didnt see last night.

The short answer is no, the longer answer is if anyone gives you any hassle let me know.

As far as I am concerned, anyone who visits this wiki is welcome to edit any other wiki or website they like, and that includes the Vault.

The only thing we would ask you to do is not link there directly on the wiki of course. Agent c (talk) 13:18, June 12, 2013 (UTC)

Just confirmed it with Gunny, and he only wanted to add that anything copied over must meet the CC-BY-SA license. As your help is more technical than content, it probably isnt an issue, but Theres a brief NUN guide here.

Define Temporary - Companion[edit source]

That is what I am doing .. I defined it.

SaintPain Tiny.jpgSaintPainThat was broke afore I got here." 13:56, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

  • tem·po·rar·y [tem-puh-rer-ee] Show IPA adjective, noun, plural tem·po·rar·ies.

adjective 1. lasting, existing, serving, or effective for a time only; not permanent: a temporary need; a temporary job.

  • com·pan·ion noun, often attributive \kəm-ˈpan-yən\

Definition of COMPANION

one that accompanies another : comrade, associate; also : one that keeps company with another

I replaced backed up with the more specific individual station of that one follower. If it had been a team, unit or company larger than one I would agree that " Backed up" by would be appropriate.

However as the player character leads.. That makes the indvidual who follows them for a time most correctly a "Temporary - Companion", unless, G.E.C.K. or some strategy guide "specifically" references them as something else.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary and Thesaurus. Is my referance.

  • If you have some thing more credable as a source you should link it to the page.

My edit required no link because it was just fair use of American english.

Jamming weapons bug[edit source]

I checked the GECK and there is a "No jam after reload" checkmark button for some weapons, like the .357 mentioned. Not weapon pages Manicdude added the bug to though, so it may be viable as a bug there. He added it to a few pages now, for the time being let it stand I think. If we get a lot more then we take another look at it, and move it to general bugs then. Jspoel Speech Jspoel.png 19:32, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

Enclave Radio[edit source]

If they're capped in a quote taken from the GECK, you can leave them capped. You can change Enclave Radio page quotes according to your sandbox. Probably some slight oversights. I'd like to have the soundfiles on that page. Some work for tomorrow. Jspoel Speech Jspoel.png 22:33, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

I make use of the FO3 archive utility. Invaluable for this wiki. Extracts all files from the GECK to .nif (high quality item images) and .ogg (sound) files and is also responsible for all those nifty icons on perk pages and such. You can find it on the Fallout Nexus. Jspoel Speech Jspoel.png 23:26, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

Paladins[edit source]

Neither are correct. One lists the templates, like you said, and the new one lists the "enc" lists of various characters which are almost leveled characters but not quite. Essentially, the "enc", as listed by the new edit, is used for a leveled character, but the "enc" itself is not seen as an NPC in-game. I'll add in the ids for the real leveled characters which are more appropriate. 22:28, June 24, 2013 (UTC)

I'm actually adding in the "var" Paladins. The leveled characters can also be Initiates or Knights, not just Paladins. The "var" npcs are the closest I can get to the general in-game Paladin that is not specific to a certain area such as one Paladin that is scripted to stand guard in the Citadel. 22:35, June 24, 2013 (UTC)

Rivet City[edit source]

It's probably somewhere around 2237 when they cleared out the carrier, then a few years to get everything running and form a council. I made use of ≈ on the timeline page, seems appropriate to me. Jspoel Speech Jspoel.png 21:37, June 27, 2013 (UTC)

Featured articles[edit source]

Hey Paladin117. The first step of our featured articles process is to assess the articles already in the rotation. The list can be found here. Please assess the articles in the rotation, based on the criteria here as well as any objective personal criteria. Please suggest additions/revisions to the criteria by posting in the section labelled "comments/suggestions" on the page. If you believe an article is in good standing and should qualify to be a featured article, please insert {{Yes}} ~~~ in the corresponding box in the third column. Users who are not the first to assess a particular article should use <br /> to allow a line break between assessments/signatures. Similarly, use {{No}} ~~~ to indicate disapproval of an article, and {{Neutral}} ~~~ if you cannot decide either way. There are 365 articles to review, so please take your time, but looking over a few each day should provide us with quick progress. --Skire (talk) 01:19, July 9, 2013 (UTC)

Radscorpions (New Vegas)[edit source]

What I was trying to get across was that in the capital wasteland radscorpions can actually be seen temporarily going underground whereas in the Mojave they don't, but may seen with their heads in the ground, if I rewrote now (remembering the burrow) it I would say there is however a burrow in the Mojave. Which is a correct observation. Both are banned now (a week for the first one since it was his second recent offence and three days for the second). BTW, what do you think about adminship? We could use another admin about now I think, and you aren't too far away from it. --Skire (talk) 21:49, September 16, 2013 (UTC)

I didn't know we were in need of admins. Actually, a few people have been suggesting I run for Moderator lately, although I'm not sure how useful I'll be with chat rights. I considered running for admin before but I'm not quite sure I would proof myself good enough and get the required votes. Paladin117>>iff bored; 22:14, September 16, 2013 (UTC)
Well, it's just my opinion that we are. You and User:69.l25 would be my top picks as of now. I really wouldn't run for the moderator position, especially since you already have patroller rights (unless you are or plan on being active in chat). I'd say with just a bit more work I can give you my 100% support, and I'm certain others will too. As some advice, I'd suggest you take on a project or even two, and try to learn a bit more about wiki coding and other technical stuff. I'd also recommend getting to 5,000 edits and participating more in forum discussions. Besides those, you are all set. I find you to be agreeable and pleasant to discuss matters with, you have consistent editing activity, and your constant reverts of vandalism mean the blocking rights would be especially helpful. So let me know what you think. --Skire (talk) 22:30, September 16, 2013 (UTC)

Can you please leave a message on why you don't think those items should be removed on Jury Rigging? All of the jury rigging page tables are an inconsistent mess, but if you understand it and can explain it to me, I'll do my best to get it to decent standards.

Re:Holorifle & Commando[edit source]

You're right that the perk should affect the Holorifle based on what the GECK says, but yeah, it's possible that there may be a bug preventing the perk from actually having an effect on the gun. The only problem is there's no real reason as to why the perk would just randomly now work. I can look into it myself, but the GECK says the Holorifle is affected, so I think we should keep it listed as so until we can look into this more. I'll get back to you tomorrow. 69.l25 (talk) 04:44, December 1, 2013 (UTC)

Good to have you on board. And it's because I took over the Chinese wiki some time ago. That way I'll be able to give all board members chat mod rights to deal with intrusive users. --Skire (talk) 22:44, December 1, 2013 (UTC)

Could I point you towards this message I sent to the other party? --Skire (talk) 03:02, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah. If you check the history you will notice that I even reverted his edit before realising the second change he made a few lines down XD --Skire (talk) 03:10, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

NotY board meeting[edit source]

Hi everyone. Our first meeting is scheduled to be Thursday, 19 December, at 2100 GMT. It'll take place at the Chinese Fallout Wiki chat. Chat moderator rights will be handed out temporarily to all board members to ensure privacy of the meeting. We will discuss which two users should fill the remaining two spots on the top five. Please try your best to attend this meeting. If you cannot, please inform me so an alternate can fill in for you. --Skire (talk) (via the courier) 04:30, December 16, 2013 (UTC)

No worries. We'll find someone to fill in for this time. --Skire (talk) 19:59, December 16, 2013 (UTC)

Yo. We decided today to have our next meeting at the same time - 2100 GMT (1600 EST) on 26 December. Hopefully you can attend. --Skire (talk) 22:25, December 19, 2013 (UTC)

Okay, keep me updated. --Skire (talk) 01:15, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
