Mediawiki pages Edit

It is legal and permissible to copy the custom style sheet (CSS) and anything else from this wiki to yours. All you have to do is attribute it properly when it's done. As for whether you should do it or not, that's a long answer. I'll try to condense: If you want the look to be the exact same as Nukapedia, you would need to copy over the common.css and common.js. You would also have to copy over all of our templates. The reason for this is that the old templates you are using are not set up to use the css and js we currently have. This would be a huge project to undertake. You would have to copy over each template, translate it as needed, change every single page the template is transposed to and then do the next template. All the while, the existing templates you have would probably not function/look right since I don't think you could run both your old css and ours side by side. There's some ways around that, but you'd really need to know what you were doing, and it would take even more work on the templates to do it. I am not in a position where I have the time to undertake a task this big. If you can find someone who can handle the css changes, can handle the template changes, I can talk them through how to do it. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 20:29, June 5, 2015 (UTC)

OK. If you're gonna do it yourself, you need to copy over all out our templates. All of them. Copy over the css and js. You'll then have to translate the templates and template parameters. After that, you'll have to go to each article and update the template usage: new template name (if different), redefine all the template parameters, etc. For that you could copy over the template usage from our articles and just translate. It will speed things up if you leave all the template parameters named in English, but you may end up with problems down the road where editors who don't know English are trying to edit articles. Good luck. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 20:56, June 5, 2015 (UTC)
Ah, yes, I forgot about the variables extension. You have to ask wikia to turn that extension on for your wiki. Just leave them a message asking to do that at special:contact, they'll enable it shortly. As for the other problem, we also use a custom namespace, the portal namespace. You'll either have to ask wikia to enable that for you, or alter the content on your portals to fit the normal article layout. Another note: almost all, if not all, of the images you'll need for the templates should be in Category:Template images. Please make sure you attribute all the stuff you copy over. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 16:10, June 6, 2015 (UTC)
