Hi. I'm wondering if you meant bottlecap mines or cherry bombs when you said you could buy unlimited from merchants. In either case, which merchant(s)?

Hi there!

FO1 intro Vault Boy

Welcome to the Vault!

Welcome to our Fallout wiki and thank you for your contributions! I hope you'll stay with us and make many more improvements.

A little help to get you started:

Pulverizer

(Because someone else reverted it.)

We don't tell people how to play the game here, with the exception of quest articles, which are getting really big and bloated since we have to outline all the possible ways to play those.

If people want to get a bunch of AP, they can figure it out themselves, or use the handy Action points article. :D Nitty Tok. 13:23, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Pronto

Mostly because .44 rounds aren't like mini nukes. They're incredibly rare and expensive. .44 rounds aren't.

Just because merchant A stocks a bunch of .44 rounds doesn't make it notable, unless there is a specific script in the GECK that alters his merchant vendor list to always have 50 .44 rounds or whateves, just like Flak, Shrapnel, and the nukes.

(Incidentally, I seem to remember Haley always having about that many .44 rounds, too.) Nitty Tok. 03:45, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

Relative to the nukes, I mean. Mini nukes are like Nuka-Cola Quantums; they're unique, limited shiz.
However, if there IS a bit in his GECK vendor list that makes him carry more .44 rounds and magnums than normal, it should go in. You might want to ask User:Deadlykris to look. Nitty Tok. 03:58, August 17, 2010 (UTC)
Not tonight; I'm tired. I'll see what I can find tomorrow. Kris mailbox 04:32, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

Companions

It's actually already listed on Fallout 3 exploits (I'm rather sure.)

Just remember that we're an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough. Your edits are good, just not really what we want the Vault to be. :/ Nitty Tok. 04:57, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

Fawkes

How could you tell which Gatling laser it was? :P

And did you give him ammo for it? Nitty Tok. 15:00, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

I gave him ammo and let him go crazy shooting stuff, the ammo count never dropped (which it should have if he was using anything but his default weapon). Mictlantecuhtli 15:02, August 18, 2010 (UTC)
Huh. That's odd...
According to the Fallout 3 companion equipment page, his GL does 3 less points of damage than Vengeance... ?:| Nitty Tok. 15:06, August 18, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I was very very disappointed as Cross was a monster with Vengeance (I have seen her kill at sniper ranges with it) while Fawkes just looks the part. Mictlantecuhtli 15:12, August 18, 2010 (UTC)
Well, mutants don't have coding to use weapons like the alien guns, so they might also not be able to use Fat Men or Incinerators. I know that Overlords can use regular laser rifles, but not the other mutants. Nitty Tok. 15:58, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

Fox

He is referring to the Machinima video about New Vegas. The part of the video where they show Vulpes, he has a fox hood on. TrailerParkApe 17:30, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

Fake items

You could do that, it's real easy. First, start by clicking here: fake page don't save me and delete me if I get saved and then click the appropriate template. Copy that template to the clipboard, then click on the link to your user page. In the URL bar, type a / after your name and then type the name of the fake item, so that it looks like this:
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/User:Mictlantecuhtli/Dune stillsuits
which would lead to User:Mictlantecuhtli/Dune stillsuits (you can click that link to start the page, if that's the name you want to use). Then paste the template into the edit box and start modifying it. Make sure you don't save the fake page in the Main namespace, 'cause that would be a bad thing. Before clicking save make sure you're in your user space. Kris mailbox 14:14, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

Andale resident tag skills

Jack Smith

Barter, Medicine, Melee Weapons

Linda Smith

Barter, Medicine, Melee Weapons

Bill Wilson

Barter, Medicine, Melee Weapons

Martha Wilson

Barter, Medicine, Melee Weapons

Jenny Wilson

None (all skills 5)

Junior Smith

None (all skills 5)

Old Man Harris

Barter, Medicine, Melee Weapons

So yeah they're all the same, adults are Barter, Melee Medicine and the kids have no tag skills and all skills are at 5. --Kris User Hola 12:17, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Old Man Harris doesn't level up, he's set to static Level 4 with his tag skills at 44, 42, and 46 respectively; the kids are stuck at level 1; the rest are leveled with the player with an offset of 1, meaning they'll always be 1 level higher than the PC, but they also have level caps. Jack Smith and Martha Wilson will cap out at level 8 (player level 7), while Bill Wilson and Linda Smith cap out at level 10 (player level 9). Their tag sills will start at 30, 28, and 32 respectively (but will be higher than that since their effective minimum level is 3), and I'm not sure how to calculate how high they go to. --Kris User Hola 13:05, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

New articles

Thanks for adding a new article to The Vault. Next time, instead of starting with a blank page, please use our handy pre-loaded article templates - they automatically add the standard page layout for a given type of article. This makes the administrators' work much easier. Thanks! Ausir(talk) 15:13, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

Animal friend

I don't think they're affected. They're already non-hostile, and when approached they fly away so it's unlikely they would assist you in combat. --Kris User Hola 21:54, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I guess I didn't express myself clearly; I think they would be too skittish to assist you in combat, and would instead flee the scene, if they were affected by the second rank of Animal Friend; but also, at least in Fallout 3, Animal Friend rank 2 doesn't work; and my observations rend to support that, such as when a mole rat ignores a radroach which shouldn't happen with Animal Friend rank 1. --Kris User Hola 22:43, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

tribal village

couldn't this location be used as a "safe house" early in the game, until something better comes along? Kevlar.kranium 00:06, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

thanks for the tip. i have been using the Goodsprings gas station for a safe house, there's a safe under the bed behind the counter that has proven secure after 10 real time hours of use. not sure what that translates to in in-game hours, but i have become comfortable with leaving much of my prospected gear there. also, it is a bit closer to the fast travel point. i guess i should just start testing the tribal village, or a similar location with a camp fire, storage containers, and a fast travel point, to see if i can store my harvested plants and such there without losing them over time. it would be handy for creating aid items. ~~~kev~~~

You've been nominated

In case you haven't noticed, Gothemasticator has nominated you for rollback privileges on this forum. The Grammar Police 06:40, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

Bitter Springs Massacre

I reverted the change because no reason was listed for the deletion and it seemed to be a useful page. Go ahead and make the redirect, but in the future don't use a {{delete}} tag on something you don't want deleted; there's the {{merge}} tag that would have been more appropriate in this case. --Kris User Hola 11:46, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Love and Hate

I agree with your write-up. Thanks for writing something reasonable.--Gothemasticator 01:47, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

Survival Skill

A high endurance isn't going to affect your survival skill, and hence any bonuses received from consumables because the skill is based on INT currently.

I've confirmed three times on the XBOX 360 Survival does indeed improve attribute bonuses from food and drink.

Fake science book

I won't be able to check it until later, when I'm back on a computer with a GECK that doesn't crash. But I'm sure it's right. --Kris User Hola 16:29, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Would have been someone else, I didn't edit any locations. Though I had a mind to do so, but I decided to focus on other things. Also my secondary monitor died last night, so that might have diverted my attention from that matter. Once I had it disconnected and had my desktop rearranged for single monitor use, I just went into the game lol --Kris User Hola 16:35, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Dino toy roaring

It was checked in the GECK, by yours truly. Please refrain from removing the note about the roaring. --Kris User Hola 16:55, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Big Book of Science in That Lucky Old Sun

I can confirm that Ignacio rewarded me with a Big Book of Science upon completion of the That Lucky Old Sun quest. I received it yesterday on the PS3. I also watched my roommate receive it (at my urging) tonight.

See my talk for explanation of my reversions of your reversions

Shaktiboy 14:45, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

How nice for you

You say "this isn't a spreadsheet; I use a pen and notepad" as your explanation for reverting my clarity edits yet one more time. How nice for you. How does it feel to bend the entire world to your way of seeing and doing things when you're a luddite in the minority, and you have no sense of how to phrase a mathematical expression in a non-ambiguous manner. Bully for you. Good job, mate! The community is sooooo much better off with your rabid policing of things that do not conform to your small view of how things should be! We're so lucky to have you as an administrator for this community.... Oh wait: you're NOT an administrator, are you? Hmmm.

Whatever, I have no desire to get into a revision war with a total idiot. You win. Are you happy now, you troll?

one more try

Mict, here is the exact text of the formula for the Barter skill now, after you got done with your second round of reversion. In my eyes, it's a reversion regardless of whether you clicked the Undo button or hand-edited it. Can you spot the unbalanced set delimiters? (that's the parentheses mark around each atomic element of the total expression):

(2 + (Charisma x 2) + (Luck / 2) rounded up

In your zeal to remove the position of the "roundup" function name that is STANDARD on every spreadsheet and that even you must have understood the meaning of (even if the placement seemed weird to you), you actually reintroduced the exact ambiguity that I was trying to fix in the first place. You have your choice of two correct expressions. I ain't bothering to fix your mess but honestly you should take the time to do so since you (re)created the mess twice now. Both of the following formats are clear and unambiguous, whereas the current one you keep re(creating) is ambiguous. I recommend the first format because anyone who uses a spreadsheet (that's most of us) can simply paste that expression right into the formula field and every major spreadsheet out there will know what to do with it.

roundup (2 + (Charisma x 2) + (Luck / 2))

or

(2 + (Charisma x 2) + (Luck / 2)) rounded up

Take your pick if you have a conscience. Meanwhile, I'm done. Shaktiboy 22:35, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

Recharger weapon

Shouldn't we say that it could be useful on Hardcore due to it's ammo recharging? I'm just asking--Silverfox6000 19:23, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

okay well....do you know if they fixed the goo and ash piles from not vanishing in fallout NV? i really love energy guns but in fallout 3 seeing piles every where ruined it for me. they wouldn't vanish after weeks and weeks--Silverfox6000 22:36, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

Check the Fallout 3 info to see if Bloody Mess is included there; if so, then yes, but if not then leave them out. Also I finished testing Rad Child and posted my findings on the talk page as well as updating the article. --Kris User Hola 14:54, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

ED-E reversion

Why undo revision 718787 on ED-E? I cleaned that up (wasn't signed in) to remove grammatical and content errors as well as to lay it out in a more legible fashion. And you've put all the nice mistakes back in. odd. Monkoii 12:31, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

Fair enough. I misunderstood the second log entry (understood it as ED-E had already been to Navarro) but the rest of the changes are valid: currently the repair/science skill check requirements are the wrong way round, the grammar's 'orrible, etc., etc. Could relegate the "how to get ED-E as companion" blurb to his quest page to save it being stored twice. Might do that. Monkoii 13:22, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

Ha! Nice one bethesda: the checks on PC are 1) Repair 65, 2) Science 55, Repair 35. wonder what they are on PS3. Oh well. More reason to relegate them to the quest page. 10 S.P.E.C.I.A.L's? Dedicated! Monkoii 13:36, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, could you do a favor for me?
