I've seen your forum page, but as far as I'm concerned your inactive status doesnt start for 24hrs, give you some time to cool down. If I don't see you take any actions on the wiki in the next 24hrs, then I'll put it in the news. Agent c 23:38, April 27, 2012 (UTC)

Skill magazine voteEdit

You still seem to be checking in here, so I might as well ask you what do you think of the skill magazine vote. Eight in favor, 14 against. Balancing them out means they're gone. I will be sad to see them go, always thought they were very helpful and notable enough to be listed on location pages. But it seems the community has spoken, that's the way it is then. I want to make an exception though for in any case Goodsprings; it has the highest number of skill magazines in the entire game (17) and is the startlocation, Camp Golf (14) and Vault 3 (12). Nellis, The Tops and Camp McCarran have 10 each. And perhaps the early game's main locations on the way to Vegas, Primm, Nipton and Boulder City. Just noticed that the Fallout: New Vegas skill magazines page can be sorted to location so that should help too. Think it over and I'll hear it then. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:06, April 30, 2012 (UTC)

Hey Klyde... Sorry Clyde, good to see you haven't lost your sense of humor around here ;) Also thought reverting Limmie's change in the notable loot policy was a bit hasty. That wasn't my main concern, actually. She added in foreign concepts that were not included in previous NL policy. You can read them on her TP, as I just added them a second ago. User Rights Reform Edit

Hi Clyde,

I had a suggestion for user rights reform, which I know you have a bit of an interest in. I had an idea I wanted to run by you. Basically it achieves your goal of eliminating the Moderator rank, and allows people to achieve admin without the "Sigma Delta Problem" (Ie- people voting no due to nonpresence in chat.

Chatmod: Chatmod becomes a user right independent of other ranks. The requirements remain the same as now but the endorsement rather than being an admin changes to another user with Chatmod rights in good standing (no bans, warnings etc in say 3 months) to vouch for presence in chat and good behaviour, and the support of the community. The change to this from administrator is to support "Non Chat Administrators".

Patroller: Patroller remains more or less as it is now. A request to a B/c with 250+ edits with the rollback/patroller suite.

Moderator: Position deleted. Chatmods can request patroller at 250+ edits, patrollers can set up a vote for chatmod with an endorsement, however request must be at least 1 month clear of last "Promotion" (ie- a patroller has to be a patroller for a month before can become a chatmod, and vice-versa). The month period gives us all to see that requesting user can be trusted with the tools given so far.

Administrator: Requirements either remain basically as they are, or given a bump up in the edit count; the word "Moderator" to be replaced with "Patroller" in the requirements. An Administrator does not get the Chatmod right by virtue of rank; however with an endorsement (as per the Chatmod change) they can combine a single vote page for both admin and chatmod. This eliminates the "Sigma Delta Problem" as admins can run without needing/wanting chat rights if they just want to keep to the wiki part.

Bureaucrat: Must be appointed from an existing administrator except in extenuating circumstances.

Lemmie know what you think. Agent c 18:16, May 6, 2012 (UTC)

I'd like to point out that it's not possible to separate admin rights from chat mod rights. Limmiegirl Lildeneb Talk! ♪ 21:20, May 6, 2012 (UTC)
Actually, it is possible. But you have to convince Wikia Staff that it is worth their time to make changes and that it's absolutely necessary to create different power levels within our ranking system. Dragon Skål! 21:22, May 6, 2012 (UTC)
I honestly don't see the need in taking chat mod rights from admins. It takes a vote to get admin rights and having the ability to ban users from the sight and not kickban users from chat doesn't make sense to me.--Kingclyde 21:26, May 6, 2012 (UTC)
The issue isn't so much in them having the rights, its more about the problems we saw in Sigmadelta's original (Then Full) moderator request, people voting no because he "was never in chat". It allows wiki-focused users to move up to admin rank without having to worry about their "Chat image". Agent c 21:46, May 6, 2012 (UTC)
Have you ever seen someone vote no on an admin request request because the applicant isn't in chat enough? I certainly have not. ----Skire (talk) 22:05, May 6, 2012 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Yeah, MysteryStranger's a prime example of that. SD's application's issue was that he was applying for Mod's position, so this problem would become a non-issue after the removal of the full-Mod rank. Yessie Edit

I felt I needed to step in on this, and with good reason, I believe. I have been in chat, and a lot of what I have seen are people talking bad about him while he's not online and using this blog as a chance to release anger. It's causing a disruption, and as an Administrator, it is my duty to prevent disruptions. I also don't see how I'm talking down on anybody. It is common practice for an Administrator to jump onto a disruptive blog/forum/etc. and stop a conversation from continuing with threat of deletion if it continues. Just because he's an Administrator doesn't mean I can't follow the same common practices. Dragon Skål! 21:46, May 6, 2012 (UTC)

You're joking? Al sent Yessie a message about subjects like his girlfriend and cutting himself. That is not appropriate anywhere, especially not here on a wiki. I had every right to stop that conversation before it escalated. Then everyone else started jumping in and attacking me very emotionally, I must add. And I hate to point it out, but it's only because Al is so popular here. He has done the exact same thing I have done before numerous times. And yet I'm all the sudden the bad-guy for doing the same thing that Administrators and Bureaucrats have been doing since this wiki was made? You have no grounds for removing my rights. I've seen much worse conversations being had, with nothing done to them which you knew about. You are also a conflict of interest. I meet the current requirements, although I have not been continuously active for 1 month as of yet (working on it). Salient Green Edit

Interesting... did they happen to say what the connection between the two were? O: Because so far, I'm not seeing any connection aside from a partially similar name and both of them being green in colour. :') I'll still check up on Sawyer's Formspring though. I'm interested to see what he has to say on the matter, and the details behind why they added Salient Green to OWB Dragon Skål! 21:36, May 24, 2012 (UTC)

Well if I may, I'd like to contest those points:
  • Soylent Green was originally made solely from Plankton, with the purpose of feeding the people. It was then switched out to people being the main ingredient once the worlds' food supply began running out even further.
    • Salient Green was made from common vegetation for the purpose of cloning other plants. There is no reference or proof pointing towards Salient green being used as a food supply. There are also no humans used to make Salient Green.
  • I really don't see how two items being consumable is proof towards a connection. Even with a similar name. That would be like saying anpam bread is the same as appam bread. Or tofu burgers being the same as hamburgers.
  • While both settings did indeed have Dr. Who references, these references had nothing to do with Salient Green or Soylent Green specifically. So I don't consider that a confirmation of anything.

Let me know what you think. Dragon Skål! 21:53, May 24, 2012 (UTC)

I actually was the one who added that the day of the OWB release. Leon, I know you don't like to add unnecessary clutter to a page, but when the connection seems so obvious, why does it hurt? I wouldn't doubt Sawyer would say any different.--Bunny2Bubble 21:56, May 24, 2012 (UTC)

Oh wait no! I remember getting on to add and someone beat me to it:/ Well, my opinion on it stands the same.

Leon and I had a nice talk about it yesterday (you can find the exchange on our talk pages) but I think Sawyer will ultimately confirm everything. And "soy" doesn't really sound like "chocolate". --Skire (talk) 22:27, May 24, 2012 (UTC)

Violation of policy Edit

Clyde, I'm sorry to have to bother you with this (on a holiday, no less) but I feel I must follow policy to the letter. GarouxBloodline has repeated reverted page protection revisions without cause on multiple pages like Medicine Stick, Martin Retslaf and Gold bar. He even goes as far as to say that gold bar should be locked "indefinitely. Nothing more needs to be added here" (from edit summary). I understand that Nukapedia and Wikia page protection policies have been clearly outlined to him, as well as Admin policy for reverting other Admin's actions. I believe my duties require me to act on this, regardless of his status as an Admin and his standing in the community.

I feel that action should be taken and applied as it would be to any other user here. Violations of policy, repeated ones at that, after warnings, by any user merit discipline. I have left a message for him (as required by policy) and have brought this to your attention rather than reverting his changes (also required by policy). You may see that message here. The Gunny 380px-USMC-E7 svg 14:22, May 28, 2012 (UTC)

Hey Clyde! As Gunny, I am sorry for having to bring any of this up to you on a holiday. I know you will read my response to him, but I would also like to condense my thoughts as a response to Gunny's points here as well:
  • I agree with both of you when saying that most article pages should be left alone. Policies even state that a page can be locked indefinitely as long as good reasons are provided. (Although this action is still considered unorthodox here.) There are only three pages I would like locked, and Gunny already linked to them above. I would be happy to come to some sort of compromise, but I believe they should at least be locked until Fallout 4 content starts to make itself known here.
  • Gold Bar - I locked this page after having to spend every day after the release of DM removing strategy on how to obtain every gold bar. After... a month? Jspoelstra and I agreed on giving the page another chance. I ended up having to lock the page again later, because myself and other editors were having to remove a constant stream of strategy once again.
  • Martin Retlaf - This page was locked by myself after myself and others were forced to deal with constant edit wars with mostly the anonymous on how Martin died. It was later agreed upon that the protection level should be downgraded, and then the same speculation was added the same day.
  • Medicine Stick - Another case of mass speculation. Also another page I had to check every day to make sure no one was adding speculation on how the symbol could possibly be a reference to the FoA.

These are the only 3 pages I feel strongly about, and I have given very good explanations along with the page histories to support my reasoning. I have absolutely no problem explaining myself further, and possibly even bringing in a mediator, but I find my protections removed for no further reason aside from the reverter in question not personally liking the protection, or falsely stating that policies forbid the locking of an article page indefinitely. So yes, I reinstated my protections. I did this because almost every removal was done without even bothering to consult me first, and they were removed with no real reasons to back up the removals. If you would like, I can leave the protections off for now so we can finally have a proper discussion. My main issue here is just other Administrators going around while I'm not looking and undermining my efforts. I admit I should have consulted someone first before reinstated my protections. But when I have explained my reasons before-hand, and an Administrator goes ahead anyways and removes my protections while I'm not looking without providing any legitimate reasons, I consider that an abuse of Administrator powers. I understand why you removed the protections Clyde, (Although you didn't remove any of mine.) as I absolutely agree that there were a stunning amount of pages that were locked. But I have explained myself to Gunny multiple times now, and then he pulls stunts like this where he removes the protections anyways, without even notifying me. I consider that edit warring. I am free most of today and tomorrow, so let me know if you need any further details or if we should talk further on the matter. If I'm missing something in the policies, (Although I have double-checked already.) then feel free to point my mistakes out. If I am mistaken in any way, then I will drop this whole thing and leave the page protections to individual incidents. Looking forward to your response. Dragon Skål! 20:53, May 28, 2012 (UTC)

Reading all the comments I think it comes down to it we can add my list to the policy page (which I've already done), to make a better guideline on what's NL. ForumEdit

As you requested.
First off, I think you took my message the wrong way. Either we're both misunderstanding one another, or you're just in a bad mood. I wasn't trying to attack you, but the way I see it, keeping things the way they are isn't working considering we've kept it that way since the split. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but I'm not the only person who isn't overly impressed by how things are handled here (hence two bureaucrat requests at the same time vowing to fix the issues with this community).
I'm not claiming to be the community, nor am I saying that I'm more connected to the community than you. I'm fully aware that I'm rarely here anymore. I know you're in a different time zone, and I could see you in chat. Not sure what you're trying to prove there. The community extends far beyond chat, and the only time I see you step in on forums or mediate arguments is when they either involve you, or when you need to close the deadline on something. Nor do I see you in blog posts, making news, or actually bringing issues to light. Yes, when you joined "there were no blogs", but the least you can do is post a News Digest or something. I mean, its no different to creating an article with the exception of the talk page being in the form of comments. And more often than not its Leon or Limmie who are spearheading new policies. Furthermore, there are things that shouldn't need a vote, yet they do anyway (like the notable loot policy, which you could easily have made judgement on yourself). And I'm not even sure if you've looked at this. Knowing people in the community isn't akin to being engaged with the community.
Asking people to stop or take it elsewhere was what you were suggesting. I'll quote you:

If you see a heated discussion in chat causing drama, tell those involved to drop it or be kicked, that simple.

Why not just solve the issue instead of turning our backs and hoping it all ends out well? If you're active in the community, should you not see these issues before they become "Drama" and nip them in the bud, so to speak? I'm sure you're unaware that a user named Eden2012 was harassed by a group of administrators who repeatedly called him a genocidal Nazi supporter, told him he was sick, twisted and disgusting, and when he tried to stop the situation from escalating he was threatened with a ban and then told his opinions had the right to be shat on. You know what his crime was? He wrote a blog about why he would side with the Enclave. This all happened a few days ago, and I was this close to coming to tell you about it because there was a major issue being overlooked, until the admins involved made amends with the user.
Sure, it all turned out alright in the end. But the point was, where were you when this was happening? Where was Ghost (whom hasn't been around for the past week and a half), and where was Jspoelstra (who is probably the most engaged amongst the three of you)? I don't think you're doing a bad job, but if you were doing a good job then surely we wouldn't have four bureaucrat requests in the past year pledging to whip things into shape on account of the current staff members not seeming to care enough to involve themselves. You say dispute mediation makes matters worse, despite it being called mediation, yet the only other option is to have disconnected staff who essentially just exist to sit by and wait until one of the people arguing gets banned. On to the "Denying them the chance" part, I was regarding your dismissiveness to the situation. You said it yourself:

If you haven't tried to put a stop to the drama as admin, what makes you think you can as a bc?

Essentially you're asking them that if they can't do it already, they're not going be able to do it at all. Before they even get the chance to show that they can (or can't) effectively mediate, you're claiming that they've already proven enough. So where are you in this situation? Surely if the current administrators can't stop drama and therefore can't be bureaucrats, what gives you the right to be bureaucrat? This is all hypothetical mind you, and I wouldn't want to see you lose your position, but giving someone else the chance to fill in your blanks is by no means a bad thing. Its a very productive and clever thing.
I'm not sure what you mean by claiming I'm paranoid. If you mean my loss of administrator rights, I merely got angry because Cartman repeatedly put down literally everything I said, despite what I was saying being part of the rules (ie. Don't be a Dick, don't insult, assume good faith etc.) So it got to the point where he called me a troll who deserved to be banned and I yelled at him for it. Simple. I don't see how that's paranoid, unless you want to call my self-esteem into question, at which point I can assure you that I have near to none of that. Last but not least:

YOU don't know me. You do not know how I feel about things so do not make assumptions.

So I assume you know me? So you say that you're not opposed to another bureaucrat, but then you openly argue Gunny and Two-Bear's points. All I was saying is that if you don't like the fact that two users are running for bureaucrat, then try to work on what they (and myself a few months back) are preaching. Try to mediate issues, and don't just shirk "Drama" claiming that others can work it out. Make an effort to appear in the news, to start up new policies, to make this a place where there isn't all this "Drama". Don't just complain that myself and others aren't pleased with how you do your job - work HARDER to excel in your position. Its easy to say that you're happy with how you run this place, but clearly you're not willing to take other's criticism into account, let alone work on it.
Last but not least, you claim I'm stirring up drama. Hmmm... so me stating my opinions on a public forum is petty drama. Gee whiz, I suppose I should just stay quiet and let people walk all over me, because that sure did turn out well last time. I'm pretty much positive that you don't have a single clue about what keeps me here, how I feel about this place, and what drove me to do what I did in the past, or what lead to it. So calling it a petty form of "Yessie drama" is rather distasteful. You say I'm bending words and manipulating people into thinking a certain way... how do you know that's not just the way I think? Did it ever occur to you that I'm just a normal guy, not some flamboyant drama Queen master-maipulating the Wiki to love me? If I really wanted to be pitied by people I hardly know that badly, I'd just go talk to a mirror. Feel free to blow this out of proportion and then claim that its my fault this "Drama" happened. It wouldn't be the first time, believe me. Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk 08:39, September 12, 2012 (UTC)

You can go ahead with this Edit

Hey Kingclyde, just wanted to let you know that you can go ahead and remove my admin privileges. I don't play Fallout much anymore or have time for a lot of gaming in general, so I don't really visit the wiki much (I actually only got the notification for this because I visited the Borderlands wikia). If anything, when/if another fallout game comes and I get into, I might start visiting this wiki or the vault again and we'll see where it goes. :)

Cheers. --Clean Up (talk) 13:20, October 3, 2012 (UTC)

Navbar Edit

Just cos I saw you asking in the log. The extended navbar has been forced on us as a part of the page formatting changes wikia have just done. Its also affected the size of the margins as well. There's been a couple of staff blogs about it

We do need someone to reorg it at some point, as I don't think its in its most helpful form. Agent c (talk) 14:00, October 4, 2012 (UTC)

Hmm, I'd go with the headings: Fallout 3, Fallout NV, Other games, Community (So removing news and on the wiki) and reorg everything around those. Not sure what the rules are on the navbar though. Agent c (talk) 19:57, October 4, 2012 (UTC)

"On the Wiki" can't be removed. It's added there by Wikia and is not part of MediaWiki:Wiki-navigation. I would like to create enough space in the headers so that community is not shortened. We we can either move all the games to the games heading or move "News" to the "Community" heading. Those are really about our only options. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:18, October 4, 2012 (UTC)

Navbar Edit

I presume from Gunny's comment we can't change the On The Wiki bit, so I've left it out. I suggest.

  • Fallout:New Vegas
    • leave it as it is, just move it to the 2nd position
  • Other Games
    • Just rename the Fallout Games section for the most part (So leave 1/2/3/Tactics/Wasteland)
    • Change "Other games" to "Cancelled games"
  • Community
    • Remove Chat (its in the "on the wiki" section)
    • Remove IRC (its not used anyway)
    • Move Policies to left most position
    • Help
    • Projects
    • Forum
    • ADB
    • Administrators

ADBEdit

Reading my own message back on Leon's talkpage I can understand it's not entirely clear, but I meant to say I don't want to include an ADB link on the welcome message. So I'm with you on that. New users don't need to know that yet, that can come later when they become more experienced and find the link for themselves or are told about it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:54, March 1, 2013 (UTC)

ADB Edit

I would first like to state my apologies for not including you in this discussion. I wasn't entirely sure at first if I should have, since you were largely inactive, but now you are back and I am glad to see that you discovered the circulating message, as I would like any and all feedback over the ADB.

  • "Out of curiosity, won't new users that add topics to the ADB that may not live up to your "standards" for being there just clutter it?"
    • This is a fair point, and I would like to clarify upon my position. Everyone is free to add their topics to wherever they feel is most appropriate. What I am suggesting is with the discovery of important topics that affects the wiki itself, to move them into a central hub where veteran (all) users will know to look. (I was thinking maybe even a tag that users can add into what would be considered important topics. But at the same time, I can imagine such a tag would be a bit unnecessary and possibly even abused.) For topics that are directly added to the ADB by users, there have already been a set of guidelines enacted to determine which topics are appropriate. If the topic(s) in question do not fit these guidelines, then they can just be moved back into another, more appropriate, category. It's really no trouble, and Gunny's magic has made it where the ADB won't become cluttered under normal circumstances.
  • "Personally I believe it should not be included in the welcome message and general issues should go in the main forums under the appropriate header."
    • When I originally thought of this implementation, I was keeping in mind how many new users have complained over how confusing Nukapedia is and how they didn't know who to talk to. I'm not sure if adding the ADB into the welcome message would improve user satisfaction, as there are few recorded instances where anyone has ever taken advantage of them before, but I figured this might be a good way to help newer users become aware of where to go if they had questions. As for the main forums, I would like to suggest that the ADB be made into one. So far, Chad and Gunny seem to support this idea.
  • "If we find an issue that is important enough that it needs attention of a bc, admin etc we will still see it in wiki discussion as it is the duty of all of us to check the forums at least every other day."
    • I wish this were true. But like in the example I made in my circulating message, which is just one example of many many other important topics which are widely ignored, sometimes the veteran users just aren't around to notice in time, or are discussion/vote lagged. And after seeing the state of The Vault, where an Administrator request was ignored for a month, and was left running for nearly 3, it reminded me of how often this happened before the split with the chaos of new games bringing into hundreds of forums and blogs, leaving many important topics pushed into dark recesses of Nukapedia.

Thank you for your feedback, though. It will help us reach a consensus on where to possible take the ADB in time for Fallout 4. Please let me know if you have any further ideas/critique! ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 01:18, March 2, 2013 (UTC)
