Note on undoingEdit

When undoing changes, can you please state why? I think the current picture of Doc is pretty shabby, but you undid my changes without stating why. Dhakkel 17:25, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

I usually leave notes, but I hit enter which equals save. This made it too late to add anything. I reverted the picture because Doc is in black in white in the game, not full color. That can only be obtained by either using a mod or by editing it in photoshop. This wiki tries to stay original to how the game portrays things. Someone tried to add the same type of picture for betty and the result is the same. If you can take a better picture than the current one in the games original colors, than great. But the image quality on yours was kind of poor as well. No offense meant. The picture was too far away and thus made Doc's picture not really clear. I picture of the persons/NPC's face is always preferable to a full body shot. James' picture could probably be changed as well. Thanks and have a great day.--Kingclyde 17:33, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Little question =p Edit

Like I wrote on Itachou's talk page, the grouped changes' edit summaries are also shown on RC if you click on the blue arrow to the left :) I think disabling "enhanced recent changes" in the "Recent changes" tab of one's preferences disables the grouping entirely (although I'm not sure what else it disables). -- Porter21 (talk) 07:23, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Mediation requestEdit

Thanks for taking a look. -- Porter21 (talk) 07:23, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

It's stupid.Edit

Wolfy's an ass (I'm sure you noticed), so, when Spoon and I got sick of him, we removed our content and left. Wolfy put it back (Author Request says that if I create it and I delete it, nobody messes with it, so he's infringing copyright or something) and blocked everyone for "extreme vandalism". Everybody else has since contacted Wikia to get the place shut down. Nitty 22:26, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Also, at first Wolfy was using porn as a reward for working on articles, without the knowledge that we was giving it to minors, and we didn't know he was a forty year old guy (we're all teenagers). I don't know about sex offenders in Scotland, but in America, Chris Hansen and Perverted Justice from "To Catch a Predator" would be at his house so fast it'd make his head spin. Butcher Pete 22:56, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
Oh, well that's different. If you took it down, he should have left it down. Period. And I'm 34. I didn't even know how old any of you guys are anyways. I noticed he is not listed as an admin. And it seems they blocked almost everyone from here. The wiki's are supposed to be used to provide information, not to make a general forum about a non-published game.--Kingclyde 23:45, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
Have you seen some of these wikis in the dark side of the servers? There are so many wannabe Encyclopedia Dramaticas, real wikis are hard to come by. Also, Wolf blocked almost everyone from here, not Wikia. They just removed all the admins while they "review" the site. I sure hope that they shut it down, I'm absolutely through with Wolf's lying bullshit. Didja see he started an Eleventy based wiki for Call of Duty and Mass Effect? For a "mod"? IMPOSSIBLE! Nitty 00:13, September 21, 2009 (UTC)
Well, it is a term for mockery. I'm not sure why people even do these kind of things. Who really has all of this time to make these fake mockery sites? I have a job, which means I can only contibute so much, but not so much as to start a mock wiki. I was looking into the Wolfenstien series and seeing aboot doing that.--Kingclyde 00:36, September 21, 2009 (UTC)
You can ask Pararaptor and Butcher Pete, we really did have some good stuff going for the mod. But Wolf didn't like that, and what Wolf wants, Wolf gets. Nitty 00:43, September 21, 2009 (UTC) He can die in a fire for all I care; I'm surprised he hasn't been banned here for spamming links to his "sites" and starting flame wars in the news blogs, both him and his sockpuppet Chaoswolf75.

Yeah, we have proof. He uploaded some for a page called "the stash", the page isn't there anymore, but it would show up in the history, and the images are still on the site. It was a mix of him giving porn to the minors and if people gave him enough porn, they could become admins. Shit's messed up. Butcher Pete 01:12, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Policies and guidelines Edit

Please check the policies and guidelines I've written up and see whether anything is unclear, otherwise needs changing or needs to be added. It would be nice to give some feedback on the project talk page even if you have nothing to criticize.

If possible, I'd like to put these into effect by the end of the week. The project has been dragging on for so long with little input that I'm simply tired of it. -- Porter21 (talk) 16:14, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Dead slave Edit

I already put my thoughts regarding "occupation and activities" on the FO3 NPC project talk page. Regarding "In the new article, there needs to be a layout for each type of article.", there is already such a section. It is not filled out yet because most of the page layouts are still under discussion, and quite frankly writing up all that stuff on my own is starting to take its toll on me. Please put guideline feedback on the policy project talk page, it makes no sense for me to have multiple conversations with various people about it. -- Porter21 (talk) 17:38, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Well, I appreciate the effort that you are doing with all this stuff, so with that said I'm not trying to make more work for you. I'm just saying that there should be a deadline for discussion on those topics instead of leaving it open ended. I'll try to look over things more and add my thoughts. I copied my thoughts to that article when I noticed you already put the stuff there. Anywho. Thanks again for all that you have been doing.--Kingclyde 17:41, September 21, 2009 (UTC)
Well, regarding the project stuff I agree that a standard should be set at some point - but I don't want to try and enforce stuff which doesn't work out, and it seems to me the current "background" and "occupation and activities" doesn't work. I got this impression mostly from all the reviewing I did for the contest - in the FO2 project, "occupation and activities" is next to never used and in the FO3 one except for you nobody else does either (I'm listing the FO2 project since it has an identical standard layout, the projects were supposed to produce similar articles regardless of game). Anyhow, let's take the project discussion to the project talk page where it belongs.
Regarding the policies, I've set a deadline for the end of this week. Doesn't seem like it works out any other way. -- Porter21 (talk) 17:52, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Bureaucrat Edit

There's no set process - it took me 20,000+ edits as well as a lot of work on templates, portals and all sort of other "behind-the-scenes" stuff. I guess the simple answer is "if one or both of the current ones become inactive". There's no need for a lot of bureaucrats, all they can do what a normal sysop can't is changing other people's admin status. -- Porter21 (talk) 06:29, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

Xuanlong Edit

It should say 64. Everyone gets confused. Nitty 22:59, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

we've had this discussion several times that the damage of 48 stays until we get our heads on straight. There already is a discussion on the discussion page. Porter, Ausir and I have decided to leave it like that. Being that some people think the damage equals having 7 perks at 100 skill and 100 repair condition while others think it is 5 perks etc. The number should ONLY be base damage in my opinion. There are too many modifiers that make that number change to make it accurate. I have never seen it at 64 in my game. Never.--Kingclyde 23:06, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
I read that. The GECK might say one thing, but the game says another. We've sided with the game for every other automatic weapon except for the CAR and the XAR. And you're the only one actually making a fuss about it. :P Anyway, this is the Gamer's Guide to the Fallout universe, just check the main page. The articles should be consistant with what the game says, especially for all the 360 and PS3 users who don't have a GECK. Nitty 23:09, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
So I should put what my pip-boy picture says? Then what if yours says something differant?--Kingclyde 23:10, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
We've already figured out the damage for all the weapons. Yes, you should believe the Pip-Boy. We did for all the rest of the Assault Rifles (Even WANDA!), the Minigun, the fricken Flamer, all of them! This is getting people confused (And possibly banned), without any real evidence besides an obsolete GECK stat. Nitty 23:14, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
So I should put what my pip-boy picture says? Then what if yours says something different?--Kingclyde 23:10, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

And I'm not making "a fuss" about it. I want to make things consistent and accurate. If you are so worried about accuracy, you would understand. I am an editor in real life, most of the little kids here are not and add whatever the fuck they want. It gets annoying and when I try to fix things, jackasses revert them to incoorect info or add duplicate info. I would have expected you to understand this at least. And porter ausir and others have been discussing this problem. So I'm NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH AN ISSUE. This is the second time you called me out on something false and without proof. And who is "we"? Ausir, P22, Porter and myself are discussing where to get the stats from. So did you change the stat to 96?--Kingclyde 23:16, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Guys, the weapon template is currently being reworked (see Template talk:Infobox weapon gamebryo) - with the new one, this hopefully shouldn't be a problem. Basically it'll take GECK values and calculate the displayed stats itself. Being based off GECK values weeds out all uncertainty what should be put. You can see a preview version at Template:Weapon gamebryo/sandbox and Template:Weapon gamebryo/sandbox2, it's nearly finished. -- Porter21 (talk) 23:21, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Well, I started a new game and did 100 skill 100 repair condition with no perks and it is 64. I haven't gotten to the xuanlong rifle yet, so I'm getting pissed off at something that hasn't even been finished yet. So far my list consists of approx30 weapons. I am taking screen shots as well and will post them if need be. Maybe on flicker but not here, that's too many pics. Sorry about the confusion but once we get things straight, we also need to make a definitive definition when this is ready, not a vague damage definition as there is now.--Kingclyde 23:29, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Well, if you check the sandbox I just linked it clearly states what should be entered for each value of the new template. Your effort is appreciated but I think it's easier to verify if it's simply calculated from the GECK stats (much like the game does itself). Actually, the damage/attack value of the template is probably more accurate than the damage displayed ingame. -- Porter21 (talk) 23:32, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
It might be more accurate, but the damage certainly won't match up with the Pip for some, right? Shouldn't we have a "displayed damage" bit in there? (Which I think we already do?) Nitty 23:35, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
So we can play the funny revert game into all eternity? :) I don't think we need multiple damage ratings, just a standardized one which lets us reliably compare the weapons. -- Porter21 (talk) 23:42, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
Well, you need to think about Mr. Average Joe here. He sees 238 for his Vengeance, he thinks it does around 238 damage. The PS3 and 360 guys have no idea how the GECK calculates these stats. You've seen that they're having problems with the DLC ID stuff, even though we've got the link right there. Nitty 23:45, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
I don't really see how having the ingame displayed damage being shown would help that issue though. They don't get the concept of not factoring perks into it either. -- Porter21 (talk) 23:52, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
Ugh, this is making my head spin. As long as you have a plan to deal with the large amount of people changing the values to what the game says over the GECK values, of course. Nitty 23:55, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
Ok, here's what I am thinking. I'm going to do it, you guys can discuss it because everyone's opinion is different and we need to come to a conclusion. I am in the game now adding all weapons via console commands with 100 weapon health. My character only has the gun nut perk which boosts repair and small guns only. I am taking screenshots of all the in-game displayed damage and will be posting them on flicker for all to see. I will post a link here when I get it set up. I have now completed unarmed and melee weapons. Woof, time consuming. Anyways, this is my contribution to help get this resolved. I think all infoboxes should have the base damge (GECK value, not GECK's DPS) and an in-game damage which they already do. But the definition for in-game damage is not link and we need to put a definition there. I will keep you informed. It's time for dinner.--Kingclyde 00:08, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
Oh yeah! Don't forget a 10 Strength for Melee Weapons! Nitty 00:19, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
SPECIAL skills only modify low skill levels. If a skill level is at 100, a SPECIAL of 5 or one of 10 will have the same effect.--Kingclyde 00:22, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but Strength also increased Melee Damage, not just the Melee Weapons skill. Nitty 00:24, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Your Capitol Building edit Edit

Regarding this edit, whilst I agree in principle that sort of information is generally unnecessary, in this case I thought it was a useful clarification. This might be especially true for prospective modders, considering the confusing (to me, at least) disparity of spelling between the two apparently related names. Your call, but I think it's useful to know, even if it is a bit "meta". --Vometia 19:55, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

Well maybe it would be good to have on the discussion page, but in the article it isn't really needed. Both spellings are on the article.--Kingclyde 20:11, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
It's already there (I did discuss it before making a random edit, at least!). I guess in its current incarnation it probably satisfies everyone without creating undue clutter on the main page. Just in case you don't catch it on the Paint Gun talk page, I wanted to thank you for agreeing with me. It's hard to get people to come to an agreement when it comes to Wiki pages. I'll be sure to watch the page to make sure it doesn't get out of hand. TearsOfBlood 16:55, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

blood packs Edit

sorry, did i do something wrong? i wrote a notes section about bloodpacks, and i think u erased it. was it too irrelevent to the game? if so, i'll try not 2 mess up.

The information was just irrelevant to the game. Blood packs (in real life) are sterile packs with a long shelf life. Doubtfully 200 years worth of shelf life. Plus ingesting blood that may have any infection will be destroyed by your stomach acid. Diseases such as HIV etc are not found in donated blood due to screening. But the trivia that describes that really doesn't need to be included. It's kinda obvious as well. Thanks for you edits and please sign your posts. Mircowave Emitter. The Daddy Banhammer.gif 19:41, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
Did I ask you? That, and the Mezzer has those unique special effects! Nitty 19:46, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

How about they're both unique? Spoon Leave me a freakin' message 19:47, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

Here is the following stats on each as per GECK
  • Mesmetron has a damage of 1 while the action on a hit is what the GECK calls "no dismember/explode" Which means the weapon does no real damage.
  • The Microwave emitter on the other hand has a damage of 60 with an "Explode Only" on hit.
  • They both ignore normal weapon resistance (DR) but the mesmetron is a minor crime to use. I assume that is the bad karma thing.--Kingclyde 01:40, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

Does either one have a "unique item" flag or anything? Like how Protectron's Gaze is a unique AEP7 laser pistol? Is the Microwave Emitter a unique Mesmetron, or is the Mezzer a unique Emitter? Nitty 04:17, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

Neither has a unique title to them. Both are standard issue.--Kingclyde 08:14, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
So, do I put the variants header on both of them? Nitty 22:11, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
I wouldn't as they are technically different. They have different damage effects so why they may look the same, they do not act the same--Kingclyde 22:12, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
Alright, I'll put a "see also" thing on each page. Nitty 02:55, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

Vault 106 removals Edit

So you took out some trivia stuff I put on the Vault 106 page, and justified the incident by saying the information was "doubtful." I respectfully disagree, and would ask you to reconsider. 1. The location is not doubtful at all. It is in almost exactly the same place as CIA HQ in McLean, VA (the map I linked supports that). Given the location, intelligence and sense of humor of the programmers, I think it's quite unlikely that's a coincidence. 2. As for Project MKUltra, it's definitely not a certain reference, but it's far from a longshot, especially given the location that I supported in point (1). I did put it under Trivia, and I used the term "may" to convey that the coincidence was conjecture. But in any case I see no reason to delete it; leave the links and let people decide for themselves if the programmers were making a reference. If you still find the information "doubtful," I'd appreciate some reasoning. Thanks. --Archild 20:00, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

Trivia needs to be discusses on the discussion page. You added this info without proper discussion. Trivia that goes on the page is definite items that have been verified, not vague speculation. Place it in the discussion page to see if multiple editors agree with you. After that it can go on the page. The CIA location is a coincidence. "Almost exactly" isn't a good enough reason to include it. Most trivia that is placed in these article is doubtful.--Kingclyde 20:08, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
Not to mention all the Vaults could be covered under MKUltra to a certain extent--Kingclyde 20:12, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

Information added was in the same thought as bug #4. I can only imagine the ignorance on your part which prevents you from seeing that. There is nothing wrong with my grammar either.

Lesko Edit

All the different Slavers (Cutter, Forty, Eulogy Jones) say "Affiliation: Slavers." And all the Enclave ones say "Enclave", even the Fallout 2 ones.

Lesko's the only one I've seen with a GECK named faction.

Here, if the Lesko Faction makes him non-hostile to the Marigold Ant Queen, I'll put in the Fire Ants, okay? Nitty 21:16, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

Actually those are correct as well. I haven't had time to update them all and I know I'm not the only one with a GECK. I'm not the only one who wants to create life from lifelessness. Oh, wait was that Genesis. I get them mixed up. Any ways the way the faction thing works is that everyone has a faction that has their name in it. Example: Elder Lyons. His factions are the following: ElderLyonsFaction, CitadelFaction, BrotherhoodofSteelFaction. The last one is his faction because it is a group that has more people and is the most accurate. When discussing this with Porter awhile ago during the NPC redo thingy, this was how it is done. Eulogy, Forty and Cutter should be listed as ParadiseFallsFaction. If there is a SlaverFaction in the GECK than that is fine as it covers the broadest spectrum of people. Look at Agatha, she has her own as well. I removed his faction (Lesko) until we have a mediation solution from Porter. Thanks.--Kingclyde 21:49, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

Radioactive Gore Edit

I redirected the page to Fallout 3 non-player weapons. I guess all "inbuilt" creature and character weapons should be listed there eventually; they don't really need own pages. By the way, it is listed in the GECK (you need to have Broken Steel loaded, the GECK ID is "DLC03GhoulGrenade"). -- Porter21 (talk) 01:19, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

That's right it was broken steel they came in with. My mistake.--Kingclyde 01:20, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

I didn't do anything wrong! Edit

There was nothing wrong with the videos, don't give me that BS that they are useless because I've seen useless videos on some articles and you don't do shit about them. Also yes they are useful because they give you not just the way on how to get it, but they show how it works in action.

Nice his code doesn't even show up correctly. I put a link to the policy and this childish antic has earned him a 1 year ban which is the maximum.--Kingclyde 07:40, October 23, 2009 (UTC)

Wastelanders Edit

I dunno, have you seen some of those moustaches? OLD. :)

I think "offspring" would just clutter the page. I'm sure Fallout and Fallout 2 had wastelanders too. Nitty 21:22, October 23, 2009 (UTC)

Yes, they did survive the Great War. It may not have been a specific person, but all the survivors of the rigors of the world live in the planet-wide wasteland. Therefore, they are all Wastelanders.

Also, Ghouls.

And I have no idea which ban you're talking about. Nitty 21:33, October 23, 2009 (UTC)

The GOOFIEST HAT EVER. Edit

Hey, can you check Jingwei's hat in the GECK, see if it's playable? Having a discussion and there's no reason why Jingwei won't equip the more durable Winter Combat Helmet over his hat. Nitty 03:10, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

From what I can tell it is not playable. --Kingclyde 05:14, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

My edit on Charon's Shotgun Edit

Why'd you revert it? All the rest of them (Fawkes' sledgehammer, Clover's Chinese officer's sword, Jericho's Chinese assault rifle) are redirects to Fallout 3 non-player weapons. Nitty 22:55, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

Because Charon's is the only one that has several unique properties. Fawke's Sledgehammer has the same properties as the sledgehammer as do all of the other follower's weapons. Thee only exception is Charon's shotgun. It has completely different characteristics to it such as: lever-action vs. semi, 5 rounds vs. 12, different spread than standard. If you add this via console, it is truly unique compared to the other follower's weapons. In my opinion, they should have their own pages with the relevant data from the GECK etc included. With a simple redirect you lose the base ID's and all of the various details that you loose by redirecting to a generic table. --Kingclyde 23:06, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

Opfherfawkesxcake Edit

What the hell was that?

Was his account phished or something? Nitty 01:14, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

No, he reverted all of the GECK race info in the infobox to read black instead of african american. I'm not sure what his reasoning is. Race is something that happens (for a lack of a better word) and "pretending" everyone looks the same is impossible. African american is the PC way of it now.--Kingclyde 01:16, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

Methinks he's a troll, but the Techerizer guy had good relations with him... Nitty 01:18, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

EDIT: I am a retard who requests: Please leave the article african american. Whatever that means. It seems I have to revert alot of these articles because they do not agree with my pathetic, propagandistic, heart-sleeved and idiotic views. Do not correct them. Please let my propaganda continue. In the GECK it shows, caucasion, - yes, misspelled - african american - yes, miscapitalized - hispanic and asian (again without correct capitalization, which should let you know how much of an authority I am on the classification of human races). If you prefer "black" then I must whine to you that that is "you" personal preference but this site goes by the GECK. Thanks; I suck dick.--Kingclyde 03:49, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

questionEdit

Do you know how to delete redirect pages? F horrigan Onipix Horrigan 23:44, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

Just click the delete button at the top but make sure nothing else links to the page. Usually we try to keep the redirect pages as they help the search engine. (i.e. 10mm Pistol, 10mm pistol, 10 mm Pistol, etc.)--Kingclyde 23:47, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

Italics in TOC Edit

Hey, Kingclyde, A while back you instructed me not to italicize TOCs, and so I haven't. Today, Porter corrected some edits of mine in the other direction, and he pointed me to a policy page suggesting that book titles and game titles always be italicized, even if in TOCs. Any input from you? (you can see the brief exchange on my and Porter's talk pages and the Metal armor page if you're interested.) Thanks--Gothemasticator 18:54, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, he's right. I think that was decided on recently when the policy guidelines were being put together. So in that matter you can disregard what I said. Here is a link to the guidelines The Vault:Policies and guidelines, but the specific one is in this page The Vault:Editing guideline. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. --Kingclyde 19:09, October 28, 2009 (UTC)
I appreciate it. Guess I'll go make some edits to the Cultural References page :) .--Gothemasticator 19:13, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

Responding to a message you left on a different talk page Edit

In regards to your comment "The question is, why would you add a reference to a song that is about the reference to the person already referenced?" I thought I had made rather clear my opinion that it is not unreasonable to think there may be cause to believe that there is reference to the song specifically and not just the person. I note that after one other person shared my view, you locked down the page? Draconian, much? -132.183.151.213 20:04, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

The reference to the person is the correct reference. If you were a true Ozzy fan, you would know that the song is indeed about Crowley the man. Considering the fact the Crowley (in-game) dislikes bigots, while the real Crowley was a bigot and the fact the his arch nemesis in-game is Allister (which is one of the misspellings of Crowley's first name) is stands to reason that is what the reference comes from. Another factor is that in-game, Crowley is friend even personable with only Tulip. The real world Crowley's wife's name was Rose. And no, it was not Draconian of me to lock the page to registered users when me and sever admins and bureaucrats have to remove that edit. And if indeed you made that edit, why have you not made an account yet? And proper english does not dictate a "much" after draconian. Thanks for your input. --Kingclyde 07:22, November 12, 2009 (UTC)
Way to miss both the point and the figure of speech, buddy. -132.183.151.213 19:15, November 12, 2009 (UTC)
