Welcome[edit source]
Glad to see you coming over to our wiki. Good to have you on board, looking forward to your edits! Jspoel 16:47, September 16, 2019 (UTC)
Editor ID[edit source]
Yes, we use <tt> when adding the edid parameter. They're already in most infobox templates though I think, at least the items and weapons. Jspoel 15:32, September 19, 2019 (UTC)
- It's not worth the trouble anymore with Fallout 76. Only Wastelanders will come with some new pages, but it doesn't even have an article creation template. The pages for WL will be just copied from other similar pages anyway. Let's save it for the next Fallout. Jspoel

Bot program task[edit source]
Given your background, I may just have the thing/bot challenge for you. Something from the past, dialogue files that weren't converted from Fallout: New Vegas. See Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Bot_rewrite. You think you can convert them to the proper FNV format? The user that converted them isn't active anymore. Jspoel 21:58, September 19, 2019 (UTC)
- GSSunnySmiles.txt is a perfect example!. And yes, VGOMVarDealers.txt is a dialogue that should be converted to how Sunny Smiles' dialogue looks. Jspoel
16:04, September 23, 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, it is used to be able to link to a certain line number from another page, for referencing. Jspoel
16:10, September 23, 2019 (UTC)
- So it doesn't come from the dialogue file itself, but simply generated for referencing from 1 to ... Jspoel
16:12, September 23, 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, it looks good! Though this particular dialogue file has only one section (Topics). There are a few that have more, like EldoradoNCRSergeant.txt that has two sections (Topics and Conversation). I suppose you've worked that out as well? Jspoel
19:51, September 23, 2019 (UTC)
- It needs to be sorted by the column Quest Category. Jspoel
20:22, September 23, 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, I see it, no links to
{{Bot rewrite}}
anymore. Great, thanks! Jspoel21:55, September 23, 2019 (UTC)

(←) Have a few new ones: VDialogueHooverDam.txt, VDialogueTheFortGeneric.txt and VDialogueCaesarsLegionMilitary.txt.
- From Fallout 3 I generated DLC02ConvOutcast.txt and GenericBrotherhoodOutcast.txt, these require new bot programming. See CG02Amata.txt as an example. Jspoel
12:51, September 26, 2019 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll add the bot rewrite template on them. About the Fallout 3 files, I was just assuming that because the columns are somewhat mixed around... Bit of a layman's assumption I suppose. You will figure it out then. Jspoel
22:42, September 26, 2019 (UTC)

Quest animations[edit source]
Hey Brant, I'm not sure what your plans with the quest animations are, but I wouldn't want them seen plainly in sight on pages. I created stills of them for a reason. My opinion is that a moving image distracts too much from the content, and I think a still looks better, especially colored. Best I could give you is maybe place it somewhere more hidden as on Frank Horrigan#Death animation. Jspoel 17:12, October 9, 2019 (UTC)
- I suppose. It shouldn't use the footer parameter though, just make a new one parameter, above footer. Jspoel
11:40, October 10, 2019 (UTC)
- That's what I had in mind, yes. You can go use it. Jspoel
11:32, October 11, 2019 (UTC)
- Can you replace the animation for Tactical Thinking? It's bugged. If you can't replace it with an animated gif, it may just as well be removed. About those location categories you added, we use a different categorizing system here with the vaults, so that's why you were reverted. Jspoel

Huh?[edit source]
Wait, I undid that edit … was that simultaneously? My … by the way, hi! -- -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 23:55, October 9, 2019 (UTC)
- I was under the impression, you'd have "moved over" completely. ;) Well, I'm still admin there, while I'm not here, yet. So, I wouldn't call it "move over" for my person, just "move in" to a second place. Getting to know the rules here, patrolling a bit, and then see what can/has to be done with the merge – also over there. The Vault's too big to let it rot, but something has to be done to keep merged articles consistent, I think. Also, I haven't been very active in the past, and most of my time I'm spending on another wiki where I'm the only active admin. We'll see … Do you already have Fandom experience from elsewhere? --

- I am in contact with tagz, but also didn't want to snub this community, as I can't tell how much of a valuable contributor and worth of being an admin I can be during the next time … Well, again, we'll see. (Just dared to fix a typo by Mara ;) --

Nukapedia - Vault Merger: voting has reopened[edit source]
Howdy,
As you may have already seen, voting for the proposed merger has been reopened. Voting was originally postponed so that users could better discuss the proposal, and after a lengthy conversation, that forum has since come to a close. For more information, please see the discussion itself. The post is a little lengthy, but if you are truly interested in making an informed decision, I would recommend reading through it.
Because this discussion may or may not affect how you voted initially or your rationale at the time, please review your post so that it reflects your current beliefs accurately.
This is only a notice of open polls and is not soliciting a change of vote. This is a generic talk page message intended only as for any and all voters, so as to avoid any indication of bias towards a particular outcome. Voting is slated to end on 5:01 pm November 1, 2019 (UTC).
The formal vote can be found here.
Thanks,
The Dyre Wolf (talk) 11:28, October 28, 2019 (UTC)
Categorization[edit source]
You can find our categorization policy on Fallout_Wiki:Content_organization_guideline#Categorization. Hope that helps you on your way. Jspoel 16:53, October 29, 2019 (UTC)
- Can you also update the robots navbox with the robots you added the navbox to? Jspoel

Lol no worries. God knows I've forgotten a space enough times myself. --L84tea Would you like a cup of tea? 01:07, November 21, 2019 (UTC)
Unlabeled message[edit source]
Hello Admin.
Both Curie and Codsworth exists outside of the DLC so i think the correct naming for their Bussblades are ((Fallout 4)) Mr Handy Bussblade.
I saw you changed it to ((Automatron)) Mr Handy Bussblade....

Categorization[edit source]
I don't quite follow it, didn't understand "Am I correct in assuming that any page that has a directly equivalent category should only have further categories applied to the category for it, rather than the content page? And that categorizing the page itself should be reserved for less significant factions that do not have their own category?" Maybe give me a few examples. (I admit our categorization structure is a bit complex, don't used consequential everywhere I believe). Jspoel 18:49, December 4, 2019 (UTC)
- I suppose so, because now you have the pages in both 2 connecting categories (personally I'm not that happy with all these subcategories). Then you'd have to remove the faction categories from Atom Cats, Gunners, L&L Gang and Triggerman. Leave NCR as it is. Jspoel
19:03, December 4, 2019 (UTC)
- Only difference may be that it's an important faction, appearing in almost all games. Leave those categories and its contents as they are now I think. Jspoel

- You don't have to add the tt marks for the cell names on location pages. That's not common practice. Jspoel
23:56, December 12, 2019 (UTC)
- Also some red links in Template:Navbox_technical_information. I assume you're going to look at that. Jspoel

Category reverts[edit source]
Sorry about that, I assumed that was a typo. It didn't seem to be doing anything, and at least on the browser I use those categories were already at the top of the category list before your edit. Aiden4017 (talk) 00:38, December 13, 2019 (UTC)
RT tag[edit source]
I just noticed the effect the RT template has on our References section. You can't edit that section anymore, which rather annoys me. I was already shaking my head/shrugging my shoulders when you mass replaced our References section with that new template (becoming a nested template without much purpose). I wanted to ask you to just revert the whole RT tag thing back to its original state again. Should be easy, just look for every page that uses the RT tag. Jspoel 18:03, December 20, 2019 (UTC)
Hooray![edit source]
Thank you for your support of my admin application. I will work hard to be a good member of the club :) Thanks again! -Kate (kdarrow take her for a spin! 07:01, July 22, 2020 (UTC))

Gunner Vertibird[edit source]
Hi,
Me and Findabair have been looking into the original source for the Vertibird operated by the gunners, as you added it to the Vault prior to the merge do you remember what it was?
So far we believe it may be the result of a scripted even following the arrival of BOS in South/South East Boston near the Weston Treatment plant. So far we have a video but we don't have a concrete explanation of what causes the encounter. Anything you could tell us would be helpful. --Todoedits (talk) 00:06, September 18, 2020 (UTC)
Call to Action[edit source]
There have been quite a few sweeping changes to the wiki lately, and now that the Unified Community Platform has come to fruition here, it's more important than ever for our leadership to get together and inspire innovative changes for the next generation of wiki editors/readers.
As someone who is somewhat inactive myself, I understand how life gets in the way, and I'll fully understand if many of you are unable to commit, but I'd still like to try my best to appeal to you all in getting involved in a few of our currently active projects; especially so since rights-users participating in our discussions/votes are at an all-time low, and many internal decisions are having to be made between a select few users, which is bad for building consensus on important matters.
As such, I would like to ask for you all to look into two of our most important projects right now, as it would mean a lot to me and the wiki if as many people as possible got directly involved in helping shape our future:
- The Vault Academy is a program for the training and acclimation of new and even veteran users, training them on how to get involved in the various facets of the wiki, as well as helping them build bonds with their fellow users. The program has kicked off in a big way, and we are in desperate need of more rights-users to sign on as mentors, as we're having to share multiple mentees between each mentor. If you're looking to leave your mark on the wiki, then signing onto TVA program will be your way of doing so.
- As a minor update, we now have a new plagiarism point of contact. Should you suspect plagiarized content is at play, please get into point with the user FDekker who will be the initial handler of all such cases going forward.
- We have an upcoming meeting of the minds coming up on the 20th of this month, and we need people to come forth and pitch their ideas for adapting to the recent UCP changes, and to possibly adopt some of the ideas that our new datamining friends have been pitching to us.
Thanks for your consideration, and I do hope to hear back from you all! Even if it is just some of you dropping by to check the place out and say a quick hello. 寧靜 14:08, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
