Opinion piece: Lost in Nightmares

Lost in Nightmares was the first story-related Resident Evil 5 DLC. Capcom aimed to create a nostalgic return to the mansion of the original Resident Evil, and I truly believe they've succeeded.

  • 2 The Bad
  • 3 The Ugly
  • 4 Final Score

From the very start, we see a classic partnership -- Chris and Jill, characters we all know and appreciate. And even though Capcom is no expert with dialogue, it would almost seem that these two have some sort of chemistry that doesn't expose the poor voice acting found elsewhere in RE5.

The atmosphere is good. It's dark, both in terms of mood as well as actual brightness. This is especially true once the lower levels of the estate are reached. The music also greatly helps the horror atmosphere.

Opinion piece: Resident Evil 5

The release of Resident Evil 5 was when many of the (self-proclaimed) "stalwart" fans began to abandon or hate on (or both) the series. Capcom did make a more action-heavy and admittedly less scary game. However, RE5 did usher in a new generation of fans who appreciated more action while remaining more-or-less in the survival horror genre. • 2 The Bad
  • 3 The Ugly
  • 4 Final Score

From the start, it is quite evident that Capcom has made some great choices. Firstly, our player character for most of the game, Leon S. Kennedy, is a familiar face from Resident Evil 2; he's somebody we've gotten to know already. He furthermore spends most of the game by himself, receiving no combat assistance. When united with Ashley, the need to protect her from harm adds more flavour to the game-play. Although in-game partners are not inherentl…

Today we have the honour to be announcing our Nukapedian of the Year: Jspoelstra!

Jspoelstra (also known as Jspoel or J) has been editing at Nukapedia since November 2010. Many (including myself) may think of him as the images go-to guy or the edit bot. In the years since, J has amassed an incredible 160,000+ total edits, including over 100,000 article edits. Furthermore, it is still unknown whether or not J has ever missed a single day of editing...
