Regarding my status on the wiki

As many of you are aware, there has been a mass reconfirmation called in response to the large number of inactive extra-rights holders on the wiki. As I have been pretty much fully inactive for the better part of a year, I was among those named in the forum. Initially, I was not going to provide a detailed account of the reasons for my absence, but after consideration I think that many of you with whom I have had interactions with over the years deserve an explanation.

So where to begin? Around the time of my departure I got engaged to my now beautiful wife, and rather than spend an exorbitant amount of money on a wedding we instead decided to travel extensively and marry in a small ceremony upon our return, and that's what we did. Our …

Italicization on the wiki - when to and when not to

Hi there folks. There has been some recent discussion in chat and on the wiki about italicization and when and where to use it on the wiki. I decided to take care of some of the concerns and write a guide to italicization from the point of view of a writer. To my knowledge, this guide will be true for most (if not all) Manuals of Style.

If you notice something incorrect here, please comment and I will address the issue as best I can.

So, why this discussion? As we are aiming to be a proper Fallout encyclopedia, we should be doing our best to follow proper grammatical conventions, and this falls under that umbrella. It gives us more credibility and gives our wiki a more professional look. Therefore, I will now detail situational use to i…

Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank.

Okay, apparently numbers don't work in blogs, so this is my edited review:

  • 1 Synopsis
  • 2 Review
  • 3 Comparison to the Fallout series
  • 4 Rating
  • 5 Notes

Alas, Babylon is a novel by American writer Pat Frank (the pen name of Harry Hart Frank). It was one of the first apocalyptic novels of the nuclear age and remains popular fifty years after it was first published. The novel deals with the effects of a nuclear war on the small town of Fort Repose, Florida, which is based upon the actual city of Mount Dora.

Based in Fort Repose, Florida, this novel follows Randy Bragg, his friends, family, and neighbours following a complete nuclear holocaust.

I bought this novel a few years ago , around the time I finished the third fallout. While reading it, I wasn't exactl…

Post-Apocalyptic Fiction Reviews.

Alright, so starting in the near future I will be posting review about some post-apocalyptic fiction, and how/if it is comparable to the Fallout series. I just wanted to post how I will format these reviews, and to get a bit of feedback as to whether or not this will be beneficial to the vault users, or if there is something I have forgotten that you would like added to the review.

The format for these reviews will be as follows:

  • 1 Synopsis
  • 2 Review
  • 3 Comparison
  • 4 Rating

In this section I will post a brief official synopsis of the novel. I will also include a personal summary I feel the novel is about.

This is where I will post my review of the novel, what I thought of the writing, whether the novel was quick to read, gripping, complicated, etc.

Her…
