Transcript[]
Urgent message for R. Dunwich and C. Blackhall:
Nate knows too much. His followers are growing, and his word is convincing. Although most everything they're saying is speculation, a lot of it is based in collected facts. It's a good thing this information didn't get out before the war.
The followers could be converted if they're not too dangerous. They could serve our cause well.
Notes[]
- This is the first time Richard Dunwich is mentioned in a game. He was previously mentioned in Fallout: The Roleplaying Game and cut content for Point Lookout.
- This is the first time the names "Dunwich" or "Blackhall" have appeared in the text of Fallout 76.
Behind the scenes[]
- With Public Test Server version 0.2.1413.0 for America's Playground, many floodlights and fixtures were added to the flooded city center, to better highlight points of interest. That included the scene where this note is found, as a standing yellow construction light was added to illuminate the area with this note and the nearby skeleton. The update also slightly rearranged the positioning of the scene, with the sleeping bag and the skeleton swapping places.
- The note appears to be a playful acknowledgment and allusion to the YouTuber TheEpicNate315, who has uploaded numerous videos unraveling and piecing together Fallout's often overlooked Lovecraftian subplot. His research videos have attracted millions of views, and his input on the themes has brought them to wider understanding among the fanbase.
