For Unity!— Unity patrols

The Unity of Broken Hills is a minor faction in Fallout 2, inhabiting the titular town of Broken Hills in New California in 2241.

Background[]

When the community of Broken Hills was created in the Fall of 2185 by the super mutant Marcus and Jacob, a journeyman knight of the Brotherhood of Steel, it developed towards the idea of a haven where ghouls, super mutants and humans lived in reasonable harmony and as one body: this was the source of their community's name as "the Unity," rather than attempting to hawk the mantle of the mutant-supremacist Unity created by the Master decades ago. Whether he realized it or not, Marcus, as a former soldier of the Unity, may have subconsciously linked his dream of coexistence back to his former leader's ideology of removing all discord; with Broken Hills, the old mutant would rather cultivate the idea of peace for all races through community and companionship, instead of just one race subduing or destroying the rest to be the last left standing.

By 2241, although certain groups occasionally have disputes, they are typically not of great enough magnitude to dissolve the Unity. The group cohesion is apparent, and this is made more so because of the fact that they have appointed a super mutant as their leader, even though all groups are of roughly similar number. The Unity seems to lack the prejudice of those outside the community, too.

Interactions with the player character[]

Unity patrols can be sometimes encountered by the Chosen One. Aside from being well armed, the Unity's patrols consist of two of all its members: humans, ghouls and super mutant nightkin (without Stealth Boys), and this clearly displays the togetherness of the community. They can be encountered in random encounters around Broken Hills.
