Ulysses' Point is a location in Big MT in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Background[]
Serving as Ulysses' campsite during his visit to Big MT, his explorations led him to discover and subsequently rescue Christine Royce who was trapped at the Y-17 medical facility,[1] bringing the Brotherhood assassin to the cave to recover from her ordeal. In gratitude, she fixed up a holotape recorder and gave it to Ulysses, who would later use it to record his thoughts. During Christine's days-long recuperation, they shared many discussions on many topics like history and the failure of modern civilizations like NCR and Caesar's Legion to bring a good future to the wasteland.[2][3]
When Ulysses later returned to the cave after his eventful meeting with the Think Tank, he told her about Father Elijah and his quest for the Sierra Madre. Ulysses found a similarity in Christine's determination to follow her target into "that special kind of hell," likening it to his own personally driven search for an important person.[3][4][5][6]
At some point, after she had fully recovered, Christine left to resume following Elijah and Ulysses also abandoned the cave, taking what he learned from the Think Tank and traveling to the Divide. It sat vacant until the Courier was brought to Big MT in 2281.[7]
Layout[]
Situated northeast of the X-2 transmitter antenna array and northwest of Higgs Village in the cardinal south side of Big MT, several lobotomites may spawn as the player character approaches the location exterior, both from the nearby Higgs Village or dropping down from directly over the entrance. The entrance is marked with a lantern above a cave, most clearly visible if approaching from the X-2 transmitter antenna array, and the top of the rock has a small radar dish on it.
A blue Old-World flag positioned facing down, one of Ulysses' paint markers can be seen on the cabinet to the right. The interior consists of a single room which has a reloading bench and a campfire. There are a couple of shelves to the right containing ammo boxes and a silenced .22 pistol.
Notable loot[]
- Patient logs 17.5 and 17.9 - Found next to the bedroll by the corner.
- Proton throwing axe - Three outside, near a satellite dish.
Notes[]
In Fallout: 76, a skin could once be obtained for the ammo storage box featuring a vertical flag emblem on its right door, strongly resembling the markings on the file cabinet seen at this location.
Appearances[]
Ulysses' Point appears only in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Bugs[]
- The location may not appear on the compass.
The map marker may not appear before or after discovering the location. [verified]
- If explosives are detonated, the holotape may fly into or through a wall, rendering it unobtainable. [verified]
- The exterior area here may cause the game to slow down dramatically, and even freeze. To make matters worse, the area is also a spawn point for lobotomites. [verified]
