Though the Throwing skill was removed from Fallout 3, this change was not made until partway through development of the game. The Throwing skill itself remains in the game's resources, but is not included in the skill menu and is not used by any weapons or items. One NPC class, EnclaveBigGuns, includes Throwing as a tagged skill. The Vault Boy image that was to be associated with the skill was incorporated into the screen seen on Question 4 of the Generalized Occupational Aptitude Test.

The editor "slot" used by the Throwing skill (including its Form ID) was later repurposed for the Survival skill in Fallout: New Vegas. The icon was re-used for the Heave Ho! perk in the same game.
