The Texas Commonwealth was one of the thirteen commonwealths of the pre-War United States.

Created in 1969, it was comprised of the former states of Texas and Arkansas.[1] The commonwealth bordered the Gulf Commonwealth, the East Central Commonwealth, the Plains Commonwealth, the Four States Commonwealth, and the country of Mexico.

Former TexasEdit

The Texas Rangers were a pre-War law enforcement agency created in 1823 to protect the borders of the state. Tycho mentions that the Desert Rangers considered them part of their heritage.[2]

Tycho is known to have gone as far as the Gulf of Mexico in Texas before heading back west.[3]

John Cassidy wondered whether Texas survived the war at all.[4] After his quest with the Chosen One was over, Cassidy went on to search for Texas, breaking south through the NCR and past Dayglow.

Gametitle-FOBOS High Elder Rhombus organized what would become known as the 'Texas Expedition' to try to track down the remnants of the Master's Army. It turned out that Attis was gathering his mutant army there to search for the FEV stored in Vault-Tec's Secret Vault under the ghoul city of Los.

In 2208, after the paladins went missing, some initiates were sent to the town of Carbon to find them. Attis' Army was ultimately discovered and destroyed by the Brotherhood.

Gametitle-FOBOS2 The Texas Chapter of the Brotherhood expanded, and occupied and set up bases in the Alamo and Fort Worth. The Alamo was untouched following the war, but would be later assaulted by the Twisted Hairs while under Brotherhood Occupation, while the Jackals would overrun the outpost at Fort Worth.

Other notable locations in Texas include Lubbock, a city divided between ghouls and humans, being raided by Jackals; Lone-Star, a major trading hub; Austin, currently inhabited by Super Mutants, and ruled by the intellectual and altruistic Keats; and lastly the Corpse, the sunken ruins of Corpus Christi.

Texas Rattlers are mutant snakes found in the former state of Texas.

Gametitle-VB After the Caesar's Legion's defeat at Hoover Dam, Caesar has moved east of Texas, past the legendary Midwestern cyclones that rage for most of the months of the year.[5]

Gametitle-FB In 2052, a television documentary into the withered husk of the Texas oil fields brought the oil shortage into the American households and revealed how deep the energy crisis ran.

On the eve of the Great War, the Boston baseball team achieved a three-games-to-none lead over the "unbeatable" Texan opponents.[6]

Two individuals in Appalachia, Tex Rogers and Jeff Lane, are mentioned to be from Texas.[7][8]

Before the Great War, El Paso was the third city in a series of carjackings committed by "Shanghai Sally" who was an alleged Chinese spy on the run from law enforcement.[9]

Galveston was the destination of "Shanghai Sally," for her escape from the United States. Upon reaching the city on July 17, 2072, she was identified by a Red Rocket gas attendant. She stole a speed boat along the coast and sped off before being attacked by heavy ordinance from the USS Wade, leaving her dead and the speed boat a pile of charred remains.[9]
