Glitches?[]

I got Hunting in the Wastes a while ago, and would often get Meat x2 when I killed an animal. Then the perk seemed to have disappeared. Anybody else have that happen?

Some "animals" do not drop 2. Mutant hounds for instance. Check to see that's not whats happening. Most do, mole rat's, radroaches, etc. If those are not dropping x2 for you its a glitch. I haven't seen it though. (Philbert) 72.128.208.82 17:32, February 2, 2016 (UTC)
I have had this happen to me. Getting 2 times meat for quite a while but now only 1 times on all the right animals (and zero meat instead of 1 on mirelurk hatchlings). No idea yet how to fix it.--Actreal (talk) 10:45, April 17, 2016 (UTC)

I don't think it ever worked in my game.--Aartamen (talk) 14:41, May 13, 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, it's bugged on some saves (I assume it's caused by bugged save games, cause it always seems to disappear after loading a game) and makes early survival mode quite tedious (happend to me twice, both times on survival, and I even restarted survival cause of this bug). This is one of the reasons I hate that they removed the console from survival mode. On one hand, I want to (try to) fix it, on the other hand I don't want to flag my savegame, in case I need an unflagged survival save at some point, or mod my game, it's not that stable on my PC in the first place. Someone should add a bug section. --QT Luna (talk) 01:39, May 28, 2016 (UTC)

If you add it with your console it won't work. I did one test where I spawned a yao guai with the magazines respective perk and without concluding if you use player.placeatme instead of player.additem to grab it the perk will work. I've never had it stop working later on neither did it matter much for me since I'd already stockpiled plenty of meat. I imagine just adding the perk without spawning the book will have the same problem.

I just recently started a new game after a long absence and let all the updates come through. I was getting the Mirelurk hatchlings meat but now I don't (as mentioned above). I loaded an old save (where I know I was) and it too does not give them. I don't have the magazine yet but didn't need it for those before. I'm going to assume it was a bug introduced at some point. Moira Brown artwork credit?[]

In the article it suggests that it was possibly illustrated by Moira Brown. I can find no reference to this. is there one to be found on the artwork or in-game, or is it just based on speculation? --Lunamoonraker (talk) 23:42, January 18, 2016 (UTC)

Seems to be speculation, the word "Moira" doesn't appear in the game data strings. It would be strange if she had drawn "Guide to Diamond City", looks more like a local re-issuing to me. --Alfwyn (talk) 17:53, February 2, 2016 (UTC)

Issue 4[]

What exactly does it add? The only new things I found that I could build were those damn lawn flamingos. -Malus X (talk) 22:27, April 19, 2016 (UTC)

Wasteland Survival Guide 9 Fix[]

If you are not getting double meat anymore, you most likely put the magazine on a rack. There is a global variable ExtraMeatChance which starts the game at 100. When you first pick up the magazine it is set to 0 (by setting it to the current value - 100). If you read the magazine on the rack it will be decremented again to -100. This can be repeated by removing the magazine from the rack, replacing it then reading it again. The block which is supposed to only run once is broken by the rack. I edited my script file to just set it to 0 and that seems to work.

ExtraMeatChance inital value 100 GlobalAdd initial value -100

Scriptname PerkMagHuntsmanScript extends ObjectReference

Float Property GlobalAdd Auto Const GlobalVariable Property ExtraMeatChance Auto Const Bool ReadOnce

Event OnActivate(ObjectReference akActor) if ReadOnce == false ;ExtraMeatChance.SetValue(ExtraMeatChance.GetValue() + GlobalAdd) ExtraMeatChance.SetValue(0) ReadOnce = true endif EndEvent

You can just pop open the console and type set ExtraMeatChance to 0, but if you mess with the magazine you'll have to do it again. 73.186.64.184 02:28, June 10, 2017 (UTC)

Issue #9 Adds new meat options[]

It might be worth noting that Issue #9 found at Sunshine Tidings, in addition to doubling most meat drops, also makes dead Bloodbugs drop bloodbug meat. I'm not sure if this behavior is duplicated with other animals, but it definitely happens with Bloodbug. SamFreakingHill (talk) 00:49, November 2, 2020 (UTC)
