:Well, the Reservist's lacks the Victory's (quite useful) knockdown effect, but it has a better critical multiplier. Victory is more durable, so it will hold up better during the long time in between repairs (sniper rifles are somewhat rare, as far as I've seen). Reservist also has a smaller AP cost, good if you're heavily invested in VATS, and it fires more quickly in real-time (but has a smaller ammo capacity). I'd pick Victory if you like the knockdown effect and superior durability, and have a better natural crit% chance, or the Reservist if you prefer faster, real-time shooting that doesn't rely so much on a natural crit% chance. It seems that the Victory rifle may disappear from storage containers that are generally considered safe for long term storage of gear. I don't recall this occurring on any previous play-through. The only conscious game change I made was that I used Dogmeat to bypass the very hard lock on the container in is found in in order to acquire the victory rifle earlier in the game. --[[User:Xclockwatcher|Xclockwatcher]] 10:34, March 14, 2012 (UTC)

Info

On top of the extra damage, it also has 3 times the durability of a normal sniper rifle.

What? That wasn't my experience with it. --AshRandom 22:54, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

High level Talon Company mercenaries may also be found carrying this weapon.

Really? User-Mirar pawprint14Mirar (Talk) 09:06, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
I've picked it up off a dead Talon Company merc once, I've gotten a second Firelance that way too. I think Talon Company gets random high level weapons once you're at or near level 20, (xbox360). --AshRandom 19:31, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

I only had 52 lockpick when I went to the shack. I decided to just leave and since my character is evil, there were regulators waiting for me outside the door. I quickly ran back into the shack and killed them in there. When I searched them, TWO of them had victory rifles.

I was actually sniped by a raider with a Firelance at the Super Duper Mart once, bluh. On a more relevant note, if Talon Company only get the Victory Rifle randomly with a possibility of other weapons being looted, is it necessary that we have it listed on the article that it may pop up in a random encounter? --96.243.180.70 18:25, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Has anyone considered the possibility that the Talon Company mercs seen with the Victory Rifle might be finding it in the same place the player does? A Talon group does spawn right in front of the Sniper Shack, and I've seen them on more then one occasion move in and out of a building after spawning like that (especially if they spawn at the exit to a building like that but have trouble finding the player; like when using a Stealth Boy or Chinese Stealth Armor.) It's possible that at some point when the player was in the area, one went in to the Shack and acquired the weapon. A similar theory could explain them using the Firelance as well; the UFO detonates and the player doesn't notice (unobservant, in a hurry, in combat, etc.), and at some point a Talon party wanders by and finds the Firelance. Just a thought.

Super Mutant Behemoths

It should be noted that this weapon may be the best available for taking out Super Mutant Behemoths (well, unless you count the Gauss Rifle from the DLC). With a base 18% critical chance, you get a %54 critical chance outside of VATS using this rifle which is good enough to keep anything (including a Behemoth) knocked down perpetually unless you get truly unlucky or unless you open fire from a position too close to the Behemoth to begin with. As an added bonus, the physics engine likes to freak out if you execute enough knockdowns; I managed to get a Behemoth (the one west of Jury Street Metro Station) to bounce way up into the sky on some occasions. It seemed to happen when scoring a knockdown as the Behemoth was getting up off the ground.

The Victory Rifle is durable enough to finish off a Behemoth on its own, though a shot of Psycho and some Yao Guai meat also helps.76.123.119.26 19:04, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Knock-Down Effect...

Honestly, I love the knockdown effect. I can snipe a deathclaw, watch it go flying off a cliff, and die randomly. Also, I was just wondering, does the Gauss Rifle have a higher crit chance than the victory rifle? Because in my experience it doesn't, though I'm just wondering...

Yes, it does. See Scoped Gauss Rifle. 68.192.9.90 02:45, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

it does have higher crit chance, but due to a glitch often times the knockback from the gauss rifle negates its damage. Toolazytomakeaaccount 01:34, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Knock down affect lol

I was playing just a few minitues ago, and i came across a lone Talon Company merc. near VALP 58 power thing. SO i pulled out my rifle, and popped a single round into his body, and he went FLYING!!! so i followed his small body and he was still alive! then i took out the knee capper and delivered the"Coup de grâce" lol

Victory VS Reservists

Which is better, Victory Rifle or Reservists Rifle, admittedly there may be no correct answer due to the possibility of higher criticals or armor penetration. ThePog 14:27, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Well, the Reservist's lacks the Victory's (quite useful) knockdown effect, but it has a better critical multiplier.
