Merging[]

I would like to propose that the page for the Alien Archivist achievement be merged into this page like it is on other quest pages, such as Wasteland Survival Guide (quest) or Future Imperfect. At the same time, I think the walkthrough section of Alien captive recorded log page should be moved from thereto here. Anyone else agree/object? Paladin117>>iff bored; 23:10, January 3, 2014 (UTC)

If that is how we deal with other achievement only unnamed quests on the wiki, then by all means do it. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 02:28, January 4, 2014 (UTC)
I can definitely agree with this. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 02:30, January 4, 2014 (UTC)
As can I. This page isn't exactly gushing with content either, and the merge should move the information to a more intuitive place. --Skire (talk) 02:31, January 4, 2014 (UTC)
I thought about this when writing the article, however as much as I'm in agreeance with Paladin, seems logical in a way to have a quest page, an achievement page, then a page pertaining to each related item [in this case recording]. Either that, or as Paladin has pointed out and I do agree, it's better to have a detailed page with lots of content rather than have 3 sparse pages with minimal to mixed amounts of content. Mixed feelings about this one but I'd say for the type of wiki this is, I think merged makes sense :) Jenkins87Talk 06:16, January 4, 2014 (UTC)

Bugs[]

Paladin, I originally called the section "caveats" (edited to "Bugs" by someone else), because you are right, they aren't bugs, they are caveats of using the console commands for this quest. For history and future user assistance, I will put them on this talk page instead. Jenkins87Talk 06:54, January 4, 2014 (UTC)

Caveats[]

  • PCPC The recordings must be activated via the control panel in-game to be counted as acquired, otherwise, even when spawning the individual holotapes through the console, the achievement (and subsequently the quest) will not complete, even if the player has all 25 in his/her inventory.[verified]
  • PCPC One of the first 3 recordings in the holding cells **MUST** be activated for the FF Quest to actually begin. As the quest trigger is a script dummy, the player cannot initiate the "StartQuest" function without the ref of one of the first 3 recordings.
    • Further investigation has shown that the player can truly collect the tapes in any order, however it is best to use a walk-through to obtain them relatively hassle-free & in the rough order the game is supposed to present them.
    • The only way to get around this (to force a completion of the quest, and gain the achievement), is to COC (CenterOnCell -- essentially teleport) to the area in which you have missed the recording. Control panels that contain recordings are the trigger (adds to the counter) of the achievement, e.g, If you legitimately obtained 24 of the 25 recordings, and used a console command to spawn the missing one, the game will still think you have 24/25 tapes, even if all 25 are displayed in the players Pip-Boy 3000.
    • Alternatively, you can enter the command to directly obtain the achievement. (It is the last Achievement ID in the entire game & all 5 DLC packs -- #72)
