Albino Radscorpion Spawn[edit source]

It seems that an Albino Radscorpion keeps managing to spawn near the Enclave post, killing them, and then my Deathclaw whenever I release it. It might pay off to do a preliminary sweep of the area to avoid this, if you also have trouble with it. Jwguy 00:35, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Tesla Conjecture[edit source]

I imagine that this will having something to do with the acquisition of the Tesla Cannon. Seems to match the name/pic. 20:05, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Dragonfire

Tesla Coil[edit source]

What is that?--Greig91 19:32, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

wikipedia:tesla coil. It's essentially a transformer, designed by nikoli tesla (a real scientist, who, in the world of fallout, designed energy weapons) that gives off extremely high voltage electricty. DragonJTS 19:40, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

ummm isn't it Nikola Tesla not Nikoli —Preceding comment was unsigned. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Regarding death by electrocution[edit source]

It seems that you can survive taking the Telsa Coil, even if the power flow is still running. Took over half my health though. Glitch? Anonymous 22:36, 5 May 2009

Exact same thing happened 2 me. i didn't see the doorway that leads down 2 the coil nor the switch 2 turn off power and i wasn't sure if the power was off or not so i just jumped and what do ya know? i only lost half health instead of dieing. Silent.Killa78 >:) 09:51, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Well playing on ps3. i was at lvl 30 with 10 in all s.p.e.c.i.a.l stats and the coil barely hurt me at all.. i didn't even know it could kill you? i just jumped down into the tesla coil pit from above and got it. didn't realize there where shut off switches until i took the coil 07:54, August 15, 2010 (UTC)Cptn Axidnt

semi-hidden gnome/teddy checkers[edit source]

there's a semi-hidden room with a gnome and a teddy laying checkers/draughts using mini milk and mini beer.

it's in the hospital like building, in a room partially obscured by fallen stuff. Mooka 08:40, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, yes, i saw that as i was playing through Broken Steel. Silent.Killa78 >:) 09:41, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

(Optional) Use Enclave-controlled Deathclaws to your advantage[edit source]

The quest objective isn't completing for me. After I let the deathclaw free/kill its guards (in either order), the quest marker is still on my map EarthBoundX5 05:28, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm having the same problem. – Kentyman 03:21, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Actually, it marked it completed after I entered the Olney Sewers. Don't let it hold you back. – Kentyman 19:39, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Confirmed above. Optional quest was marked complete as soon as I entered the sewers.

Bugs[edit source]

I have completed Shock Value and Death from Above two times and I haven't got the Xbox achievements. Has this happened to anyone else and can anyone help me out of this predicament or is it just something to do with my disc? (Cheesytom 20:06, 23 June 2009 (UTC))

What happened to my death claw.[edit source]

In the Enclave camp my deathclaw pet kills the guards. But When a deathclaw from old olny charges at me. The cntrolled deathclaw rushes at it then die without being hit. Has this happened to anyone on the XBOX360?

When you get far enough away from the Enclave camp, the deathclaw dies. –Confessions 17:34, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Can't get through doorway[edit source]

When I get past the double laser turrets, flick the electricity switch and attempt to go through the door beside it, I can't. There's some kind of invisible wall blocking my attempts to get inside, and so I can't finish the quest. Is this a bug? Would levelling up my science and going through the shortcut door fix the problem? I have the Xbox 360 version of the game.Leemorrison 17:47, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

---Hey, I'm currently playing through the game for the second time and just did this quest last night. (I'm playing the 360 version too, FWIW) Since this game of mine has devoured 176 hrs of my life so far (at least 70 have been quick traveling to Enclave spots and jacking their Hellfire armor!), I'm all topped out in everything, so I just used the shortcut door. I went through the place over and over and I didn't see an invisible wall, nor did I have any other problems (at least compared to the first time; last night it was almost TOO easy, especially with the shortcut door).

I'm not aware of any bugs (and I've been looking up stuff on this quest for awhile today), but since the one problem i did have was not being able to find (or notice) the place with the turrets and alien power cells that you're talking about, perhaps I could've missed the invisible wall. Anyway, unless it will take you a really long time time (or you're already at Lvl 30 and can only do it with skill books), I would recommend leveling your science (and lockpick) skill to 100 and using the shortcut door. Considering how every single teeny tiny glitch in FO3 and the add ons is instantaneously the subject of at least 200 message board posts (and how the legitimately annoying ones, e.g. Gen. Chase's Overcoat, that hole in the floor of the Pitt Steelyard, etc, practically spawn anti-Bethesda terrorist organizations...), that I haven't seen or heard anything about a wall there suggests that it's probably random. So I'd say that 1.)the shortcut door is your best bet, but before that, try 2.)the universally accepted FO3 glitch fix: saving the game where it glitches and reloading the save.

The latter takes care of just about all random glitches in the game. I would recommend that for any other glitches you encounter too, since a big game like this tends to pretty much randomly grow new glitches.ChingizLink 22:02, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

--UPDATE: After writing this response, I went back to the Olney Powerworks and found the area and Alien Power Cells (48 in each ammo box...DANG do I love that Scrounger perk!!!), and I also went through the area you referred to and experienced no problem with an invisible wall. I also realized that the shortcut at the beginning probably wouldn't help you bypass a wall there, either. Try the save and reload trick, but also make sure you used the right controls in the correct order. There are so many it's easy to get confused; I used just about all of them and hoped for the best, but I never used the electricity switch you referred to (I didn't even notice it until I went back to find the ammo cases of APCs). I'm wondering if that switch does something to block that area off. Anyhow, I hope I was helpful in someway (though if you're anything like me, you probably figured all of this out right after you posted your question!). 01:07, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

Bug: Invisible Doorway after the two turrets[edit source]

Just playing right now, I also ran into this invisible barrier which doesn't allow access to the Tesla Coil. Right after I passed the two turrets, flipped the electrical switch the door opened, but I could not pass.

I guess I will have to use the short cut... But my science is around 35, so it might take me a few hours.

Oh, also I am playing on the 360, it is weird because this is my 3rd play through and the first two times I did not have this issue taking the long route.

Hinchy34 01:21, November 27, 2009 (UTC)

EDIT: I just noticed my plasma rifle wouldn't shoot through the invisible barrier, but my frags could go through. So I dropped a couple of frags at the door frame, and for some reason I was able to walk through. Debris possibly blocking the door??

Hinchy34 01:21, November 27, 2009 (UTC)

hi there, i had the same problem, throwing a frag at the frame works like the other guy said :)

Thanks, mines also work.

save and complete[edit source]

i saved before jumping in the pit, and grabbed the tesla coil. of course, with little health, i died. but when it loaded, the game told me to go back to triston or whatever his name is. the ladder hasn't come down, and i havn't taken it back to him yet, so i guess i found an exploitable glitch...

Weird Black Smoke[edit source]

When you're inside the Powerworks, is anyone else creeped out by those wispy and thick black trails of smoke coming from the machines? During this quest seems to be the only spot it shows up in the game, and it doesn't look like any other smoke in the game? It's like "Lost" or something, hahaha. Butcher Pete 01:50, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

I found the same thing. I think it might have to do with the huge amounts of energy being generated and discharged inside the powerwords... It definitely adds a mysical aura to the quest. I noticed it immediately. JK1464 04:20, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

Possible Achievement Bug[edit source]

OK, gonna post the same info I posted for Death From Above in regards to a bug that can occur in regards to its achievement (the reason I also post it here is in the info below)There isnt any specific mention of the bug happening with Shock Value but im kind of guessing that after the "fix" occured and it was one of the two that were missing it may have been the other culprit.

Ok as it mentions on the normal page for Death From Above, a glitch can occur upon completing this where it awards you the achievement but your gamerscore will not display the added points. In my case it was slightly different, I got the points and everything like I should but upon viewing my list of games (and their list of achievements i.e. 70/72) it was saying I was missing 2 achievements from FO3 but upon going into FO3 directly it showed me as having 72/72.

At the time I had zero idea what the issue could be, but recently I was at a friends house and recovered my gamertag. Upon going through to see if I lost any achievements, FO3 was "fixed" and displayed 70/72 and showed me missing this achievement and "Shock Value" achievement. Figured Id post the info here so if the same thing has happened to other people they know of one possible fix to trySkitz470 05:26, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

Deathclaw following on fast travel[edit source]

Fast travelling to Megaton while having the friendly Deathclaw near caused the Deathclaw to appear in Megaton with me and die instantly. Unable to reproduce.

Dead Deathclaw in Megaton.

Notes: "Tesla hole"[edit source]

Under notes, it says "* If you fall into the tesla hole under Old Olney you die straight away."

What does this mean? 05:53, July 13, 2012 (UTC)
