This talk page is only for discussing improvements to the page "Rose of Sharon Cassidy."

Her nameEdit

As Ausir pointed out, Rose of Sharon is a type of flower. Would this be fitting in the "Behind the scenes" section of the article? I'd put it in but I'm not sure. --Kris User Hola 23:21, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

Sure, why not. Ausir(talk) 23:23, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

There a console command to revive her at the Bar at the Mojave outpost? I dont see her at her usual spot, and i completed her quest for signing away the caravan. Nosferus 21:45, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

mortality of companions Edit

i think this issue should be clarified better as i personally assumed that companions that are not essential would in fact die. now i know that's not true. I think there should be a little snippet for each of the companions saying that in all modes except hardcore companions cannot die. what do you think? Eydryan 03:12, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe on the Companion article. Seems a little excessive to put a note on each individual page. 09:16, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Will she use other guns besides her default one? Edit

Will she use other guns besides her default one? if so who has higher guns skill? boone or cass? seems a little odd to have two different *guns* companions.

Boone will use precision weapons over normal ones. So I would think Cass would use shotguns. -- 22:51, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Cass will actually use any weapon with a higher DPS than her Caravan Shotgun. Pretty sure Boone does the same thing with any weapons stronger than his Hunting Rifle. As for the skills, someone with the GECK needs to find out what they actually are. We've got Boone's already (although there's a bit of debate about a weird script that might boost them). Zakrael 23:55, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

She won't equip the All-American, despite it having higher DAM and DPS. Also, she talks about making every shot count, implying she's a precision specialist. Why wouldn't she use it? She won't use a perfect condition Brush Gun, Anti-Materiel, Riot Shotgun, Hunting Shotgun, anything. UraniYum 16:12, October 30, 2010 (UTC) - I currently have her using the All American with 5.56 Surplus Ammo.

If she won't use a Brush Gun, why does the page recommend giving her one? 02:28, December 7, 2010 (UTC)
Cass in my game currently has the All-American equipped. From my gameplay, it would seem that the accepted theory of "higest DPS weapon with ammo" holds for any companion (take note that means they *will* equip substandard weapons of their DPS score is higher, regardless of how unrepresentative of performance that stat actually is). Naltharial 00:08, January 1, 2011 (UTC)

Right now I have her using a full-condition 10mm SMB. Remember that you have to give your companions ammo (I gave her like 400 rounds of 10mm). They have unlimited ammo for their default weapons only. --Dairydian 03:50, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

I've tried giving her various shotguns, including the hunting shotgun as her wiki article suggests, and she wouldn't equip any of them, not even the Riot shotgun. It doesn't have a square next to the weapon in her inventory like her armor does and the model doesn't change. Does it simply increase damage and rate of fire without actually changing the gun model? EDIT: Ah, it must be because I didn't give her ammo, I missed that comment. Guess I'll just let her keep her regular weapon then, not worth the ammo to me.

Seriously? With how easy it is in this game to make tons of caps you’re to cheap to buy her ammo? Wow…
Because it's just another thing you need to manage. More of a nuisance than anything.
Actually, you should really consider doing this. I have played with Cass too little time to know her shooting skills, but give Boone a Sniper Rifle in full condition with every .308 ammo you can find, and you'll increase Boone's "badassness" to the point of saying: "I'm glad he's on my side". --Dairydian 08:06, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

I gave her Combat Armor + Helmet Mk II, and a Light Machine Gun... Lots better than the Hunting Shotgun. Now to see how she does at the Silver Rush ;) Dcruze

Okidokie, What I ended up with was giving her the Gobi Campaign scout rifle w/Armor Piercing bullets. I tried a few other weapons with different types of ammo and nothing came even close; Anti-Materiel Rifle (too long loading time), Assault Carbine, Light Machine Gun, Marksman Carbine, Riot Shotgun and the Multiplas Rifle. She managed to clear out the whole place by herself without using stimpaks, making Jean-Baptiste flee upstairs like a little girl - Good fun :) Dcruze 19:30, November 3, 2010 (UTC)
Actually I found the Gauss rifle not too bad, precisely because it has a slow fire rate. Anything else and she uses the ammo up in no time at all - wouldn't be so bad if she had a higher hit/miss ratio. Also she doesn't seem to favour high DPS all of the time. I have had occasion where she would switch to another weapon, even though she had ammo, (weapon still in good condition) - buggered if I know why. For example she switched from a modded cowboy repeater to the weathered 10 mm pistol, both in top condition. She stated "out of ammo", but when I checked she still had 100 .357 left.

I gave her Dinner Bell and she kicks some serious ass with it! I'll just stand back and let her do all the work. A modded hunting shotgun works as well. Give her that and some decent armor and she'll take on a pack of giant radscorpions like shes swattin flies.

I agree with what is said above. Cass has a perk that is identical to Shotgun Surgeon so giving her a fully modded Hunting Shotgun/Dinner Bell or a Riot Shotgun seems to be the best choice because then her shots will bypass 10 points of DT, which works especially well with handloaded magnum ammo at close range. Shotgun Surgeon Basically adds the -10DT spec to whatever ammo you are using, making it armor piercing. Shotguns have a very high DPS because each pellet in the buckshot has the ability to cause critical damage. So, if we use the Dinner Bell and Riot Shotgun as an example, where we assume that the opponent has DT10 and Cass uses the Shotgun Surgeon perk:

Dinner Bell (Enemy DT nullified)

Base damage 10.7 x 7 = 75 + 11 x 7 critical damage = 75-152 max damage

1.67 attacks per second = 125-254 DPS

Magnum Buckshot = 12.3 x 7 = 86 + 11 x 7 critical damage = 86-163 max damage

1.67 attacks per second = 144-272 DPS

Riot Shotgun (Enemy DT nullified)

Base Damage 9.6 x 7 = 67 + 10 x 7 critical damage = 67-137 max damage

4 attacks per second = 268-548 DPS

Magnum Buckshot = 11 x 7 = 77 + 10 x 7 critical damage = 77-147 max damage

4 attacks per second = 308-588 DPS

(588 DPS is slightly utopistic, where all 7 pellets from the 4 shots fired in a second, cause critical damage)

Now, if we compare that to the Anti-Materiel Rifle:

Base Damage = 110 + 80 critical damage = 110-10(enemy DT) / 190-10(enemy DT) = 100 or 180

0.45 attacks per second = 45 or 81 DPS

AP .50 MG rounds (with -15DT = enemy DT nullified and x0.95 damage) = 104.5 + 80 = 104.5 or 184.5

0.45 attacks per second = 47 or 83 DPS

The advantage of the AMR is that the damage is consistent whereas the shotguns have a damage range. I did not factor in that sneak attack criticals do double damage and that some perks like Better Criticals (2x damage) also enhance it even further but I think that the numbers speak for themselves if I did the math correctly. I'm not sure why slugs are said to be good when using this perk because then the number of projectiles are reduced from 7 to 1, which greatly affects the maximum damage. So it seems like the AMR with its higher base damage would be more effective against heavily armored opponents and that the shotguns do insane DPS as long as the enemy does not have a high DT.

I play as a sniper so I don't want my follower doing the same thing. This way she can back me up in close combat when I use other weapons. She kills most things in a matter of seconds.

Cassidy will equip most wepons that you give her, as long as you provide her with the appropriate ammunition. I gave her the Reinforced MkII Combat Armor and she seems to be able to handle just about everything. Most head gear look stupid but The Veteran helmet goes well with the white armor. I also gave her a Super Sledge in case she decided to swap weapons.

Clothes? Edit

Anyone know what her clothes are called? No page listing. Munin088 02:47, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Cass' Outfit. Nobody else wears it. No DT or bonuses that I can see. --Rooker75 04:48, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
She looks fetching in Vera's outfit.Laclongquan (talk) 17:20, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

Is there a way to save her? Edit

Is there a way to save her while getting the Van Graffs to trust you? If you have the Terrifying Presence perk, you can say "If you shoot her I will kill every one in here" or something similar, and then nothing happens, so why have it? -- 22:54, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

No, you have to choose between Cass' life and completion of the Van Graffs' quest. As for the Terrifying Presence, I think it's useful in this situation because there are a couple reasons why players who inadvertently trigger this show-down may want to avoid a fight. Players may not want to lose the Van Graffs as trading partners quite yet, or they may be trying to complete Cass's mission "Heartache by the Number" by turning in evidence incriminating the Van Graffs to the NCR (a necessary condition for this option is that the Van Graffs are not harmed, otherwise "the case" falls apart).
This can be easily done by recruiting a body guard, calling for an NCR Ranger, and using Cass (armed with the All American and armor piercing rounds) with ED-E. Place C-4 around the room by the guards (do not hit them with the C-4 as they will become hostile). Take chems before the fight (Atmoic Cocktail, Jet, Med-X, Buffout, Psycho, Turbo, Mentants, and Steady). When the battle begins, use the detonator and then switch to your guns with VATS. I did this and fired two shots and the battle was over.
It's best to not start the doorman missions with the Van Graffs, or you can ask if they need any help and then turn it down. This leaves you the option to take the job again if you change your mind (or karma).

think about it this way kill the van graffs take all of thier guns and armor and make almost 10,000 caps and at least that much in xp which i think her quest gives off more xp or go with the van grafs kill cass and loose out on thousands of caps and xp plus if you kill the van graffs with cass you can tell her lets loot the place and take everything there withn zero karma loss--Corporal grif 10:42, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

you can take anything from the van graffs without karma loss normally, you dont have to say "lets loot the place"

After a patch there's no way to complete both Birds of a Feather and Heartache by the Number in the same game. SigmaDelta54 02:22, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

Skip Killing Cass Edit

The console commands GetStage, SetStage, GetObjectiveComplete, SetObjectiveComplete, GetObjectiveDisplayed, and SetObjectiveDisplayed can be used to figure out where you are in the quest and to skip sections. There are other commands along the same lines that let you fine tune a little better, but these are what I found with the help command. Without the GECK script info (I'm too lazy to figure out GECK, this is all based on a snippet of script I saw in the talk section of birds of a feather) I can't make the game think it killed Cass, but I can tell you how to trigger the next portion of the quest which will, upon completion, mark the quest completed (I tested it and completed birds of a feather with Cass standing outside the door to silver rush). Just don't talk to Jean-Baptiste after this or he'll still kill her (I suggest getting Cass's Hand of Vengeance perk and killing Jean-Baptiste after completing Birds of a Feather).

Do this: Tell Cass to wait somewhere if you have her, then use getstage 00124123 to find out what stage you're at (probably 40), then use setobjectivecomplete 00124123 40 1 (that trailing '1' is important, not a typo). Then setobjectivedisplay 00124123 49 1. You'll see a message to talk to Gloria, so go talk to Gloria. You'll be transported to the deal with Legion and then the quest ends with all the XP, caps and dialog, like normal. Only thing is Jean-Baptiste is still waiting for you to bring Cass to him and I didn't bother figuring out what to set to make him think you did (I shot him in the head instead).

-CapinWinky-- 23:07, December 8, 2010 (UTC)

  • "I shot him in the head instead." Priceless. XD Also, something he has had coming since I first met him. Ganondorf 04:02, December 15, 2013 (UTC)

Calm Heart Perk Edit

I think the Calm Heart perk she gets, after you bring the evidence to Jackson in the Mojave Outpost, should be added to Cass' infobox. Of course the page for that perk should probably be created first... Rizzle-Q 01:49, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

I agree it should be noted on the article. Not so much that it needs it's own article. 09:24, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Daughter of the chosen one from fallout 2? Edit

is that possible? --Ra1n 13:00, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Nope. She specifically states that her mother was a tribal, and that said mother raised her until she was old enough to get in trouble with the boys. Nice idea, though. Zakrael 23:52, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
:Way to provide evidence against your own argument. The Chosen one from Fallout 2 IS a tribal. While I don't support the notion the Chosen is her mother, the protagonist from Fallout 2 might have introduced John to his wife.

--LordVukodlak 03:33, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

Well,it's possible that the chosen one from fallout 2 was a woman, canonically. Who knows?

-Actually, if we're speaking about canon, in all the cutscenes from Fallout 2 that involves him, the Chosen One appears to be a male. --LaZa 05:26, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

-I think in canon, the Chosen One impregnated either Leslie Anne or Angela Bishop in New Reno, didn't he? I think that'd make him a he? On the other hand the fact about the Bishop child isn't that important... xNOKIx 13:52, February 10, 2011 (UTC)

-Well it's not exactly confirmed whether the Chosen One is male or female, the Bishop Child and this idea don't have concrete "this is canon" backing. Someone updated the Chosen One Article and added in this entry, thanks. --Alexmikli 03:01, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

-I just replayed this part and the Chosen One is definetely not the mother. She stated her mother came from the east, (probably Utah or Arizona, which are teeming with tribals.. at least before they were "civilized" by the Legion). Since (New) Arroyo is way back in the west in the NCR teritorry, I don't think she is related to the Chosen One at all. xNOKIx 12:58, February 16, 2011 (UTC)

-Oh and another thing i found while reading Chosen One: "According to the singer, Bruce Isaac, who hides in a motel room in Novac in Fallout: New Vegas, he is being chased by Mr. Bishop who knows the wasteland like the back of his hand. This implies that the Chosen One did not slaughter the family during the events of Fallout 2, and that the Bishop Child, who supposedly knows the Wasteland like the back of his hand, is the Chosen One's son. If this is true, the Chosen One obviously must be male." So I think Obsidian considers it canon. xNOKIx 13:07, February 16, 2011 (UTC)

Helmets Edit

She'll wear seemingly random helmets, if given to her. She likes the Fiend helmet, over a 100% condition Reinforced Combat Helmet, Mark 2. So, only give her the helmet you want her to wear. UraniYum 14:58, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

  • Either you didn’t have the combat helmet in her inventory as you thought you did or it was a glitch. She will always equip the one with the higher DT and fiend helmets only have 1 DT vs. even a regular combat helmet having 3 DT, reinforced have 4 and mark 2’s have 5. Personally I don’t bother giving her a helmet, I just wish I could get her to wear a decent looking cowboy hat over that beat up looking POS she wears.
  • Like most other companions, they'll wear the headgear of the highest Damage Threshold. SigmaDelta54 02:23, November 24, 2011 (UTC)
  • Well, I had her wearing a combat helmet...then handed her one of those Frumentarii hats to hold for me...which she promptly equipped, and continued to wear after I dismissed her. However when travelling, I would sometimes note that she was again wearing the combat there is certainly some bizarre behaviour here, not straightforward DT for sure.

Bugs Edit

  • {{platforms 360. For some reason undeterminable to me, her armor and weapons started degrading, I have no idea why this happens. (moved here from Article page by --Desyndra 11:53, November 8, 2010 (UTC) Reason: use of first-person narrative, needs confirmation from other players to include in the main Article as a common bug)
  • {platforms 360.} In my game Cass was awarded the Hand of Vengeance Perk twice. I don't know whether it stacked or anything. I finished her quest via NCR, gained Calm Heart, and then proceeded to kill the Van Graffs and the Caravan lady, giving her Hand of Vengeance. Then, I went to Primm, and talked to ED-E, but for some reason, Cass talked to me instead, going through the dialog which gave her Hand of Vengeance again. 19:21, October 2, 2011 (UTC)

OMG: It's CAssidy's daughter! Edit

She's cassidy from FO2's daughter! She mentions an inherited heart condition and he was chronically worried about his heart. He was a tough SOB too.

Does Cass sleep with the Courier? Edit

I read over the Notes and I saw this. Does she sleep witht he Courier or NCR Soldier? It is kind of hard to tell when there is only the word "he". ---Legion- 01:10, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

From my understanding of the her description of the scene, the was going to have sex with the Courier, but the Courier had taken his leave and given his room to a soldier. It can only be inferred that she is talking about the soldier because the Courier is long gone. Epsilon616 02:54, December 7, 2010 (UTC)

i think they are actually ment for each other think about it they are both heavy drinkers both love to travel both have a mind for vengance and both love to kill shit in my mind perfect pair.--Corporal grif 10:45, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

Maybe the courier takes that play in your game, but not mine. Can't say "a mind for vengeance" fairly 'cause he got shot in the fucking head. No one would survive that without a sense of "oh you little fucker".

Maybe the Courier is the NCR soldier. ;) Cass comes in and realizes that Courier has become a decorated NCR soldier who had helped take down the Legion at Hoover dam.--Hairysteed (talk) 17:41, February 2, 2016 (UTC)

Habit of dying after leaving a cell. Edit

Cass has quite a habit of randomly dying when I leave buildings. Anyone who can explain why has my thanks. Nukey talk 20:20, November 10, 2010 (UTC)

Really? That's strange, she's fine for me, and I alwys use her (touch wood).Any more info you can add about when this happens? e.g which buldings, do you have Rex/ED-E, what she's wearing ect?JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 20:25, November 10, 2010 (UTC)

Heh, "what is she wearing"... dirty. 09:27, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Got a weapon, Armor Recomendations? Edit

I managed to steal La Longue Carabine and repair it to max condition again, then gave it to Cass along with normal .357 rounds and it's proving to be a truly vicious gun in her hands with Hand of Vengeance. She was dropping giant rad scorps before they could close to melee range with Rex. Only drawback is she burns through ammo like candy due to the high fire rate, so I tend to take her .357 ammo away unless I'm doing something where I need her in top form. My issue is finding armor, should I just try for a non-brotherhood T-51 and maybe have her go more melee/bodyguard for wandering or is there anything 'stylish' and hopefully strong? I kinda wish she'd wear the ranger combat armor along with me but its a faction she won't wear. - The Godchild 09:28, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

I recommend regular Combat armor (Fallout: New Vegas) or the Van Graff version for the sake of appearance. As for the weapon; anything that has a high ratio of damage to DPS. For melee I recommend Knock-Knock. For short range try Big Boomer or a generic Sawed-off shotgun (Fallout: New Vegas). If you want her to fight at mid to long range I suggest that you go to Bethesda HQ, burn the place to the ground and reprogram the game so that your companions won't run straight at the nearest red text while emptying ammo into any obstacles and/or bystanders in between. 09:45, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

I have her in the Von Graff armor at the moment for just that reason, and I picked up Knock Knock recently as well along with Chance's Knife. I'll see which one she prefers since that's a pretty sweet combat knife. I don't mind switching between her base gun and La Longue's as I need her, Not like .357's ammo isn't dirt cheap and easy to find/make by the time she burns through the 900+ rounds I gave her to start. - The Godchild 10:04, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

She's able to wear power armor in my game (360), I'm not sure if this is a glitch or if she's got the power armor training perk. Jazzlizard 17:22, December 20, 2010 (UTC)
She, like every other companion, will wear nutral power armor. That is Power Armor and not Brotherhood Power Armor. I'm pretty sure Veronica is the only one who will wear Brotherhood Power Armor. The difference is allegiance. Companions will not wear armor from a faction they don't side with. They won't carry it either. It's why you have to carry out all of your scavenged, murdered Legion armor. Cause everyone else drops it.Serose8

Tested Cass out with ghouls at the Old Nuclear Test Site ... For shotguns, she is best with Riot Shotgun as opposed to Dinner Bell.

I would recommend the Combat armor, reinforced piece of armour, it has a good Damage Threshold for Medium Armour. There's one in the truck in The Devil's Throat and Vendortron sells them too. SigmaDelta54 02:26, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

Death only by Van Graffs? Edit

It's stated in the article "If the player is on the quest "Birds of a Feather" from Jean-Baptiste, Cass is essential to the quest and cannot be killed unless by Jean-Baptiste, Gloria Van Graff or a Van Graff thug. This makes her an ideal companion for the player".

I have this quest open, playing in hardcore mode and Cass is still killable in combat. This information is accurate?

No, it's not accurate. Cass is unkillable except by the Van Graffs while a follower on Causal Mode, but otherwise is killable by anyone at any time - my current character was unable to recruit her, so I killed her - in casual mode, with this quest active - by planting a grenade on her person. Then popped a stealth boy to get away from the NCR who got mad. --Kris User Hola 00:49, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

Karma Edit

So even though it states shes neutral in karma, She doesn't take kindly to evil characters.... Nosferus 09:37, November 23, 2010 (UTC)

She dosen't take kindly to Legion. She's an NCR Fangirl. Troy242621 01:57, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

That's true, but even if the NCR loves you and the Legion hates you, she will leave if you have negative karma.--BWM

You get 3 chances to improve your karma after you initiate conversation with her. This is based on how many times you attempt to 'talk' to her, not on time. Therefore, all 3 strikes can be used within a minute literally. SigmaDelta54 02:27, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

getting both perks? Edit

After getting the calm heart perk by collecting evidence and turning it in, I went on a killing spree, killing the van graffs and alice. after each i got the hand of vengence dialogue from cass and after killing both she got hand of vengence perk. She still heals up to 335/285 so i believe she can get both perks?-- 13:41, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

I checked in GECK. The script that gives her Hand of Vengeance also explicitly takes away Calm Heart if she has it. Dmunsil 16:53, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps calm heart is a scripted health boost and not tied to the perk? She deffinetly still heals up to 335/285 in the companion wheel after being damaged in combat and seems to do more damage. It would seem she gets the benefits of both perks. Maybe the way that calm heart is bugged has something to do with it? can anyone else test it out?-- 00:31, December 2, 2010 (UTC)
I really don't know; the perk is being added and subtracted via a script, but it's certainly possible that the game has a bug that causes the perk or the effect of the perk to stick around even after it's been removed.--Dmunsil 05:21, December 2, 2010 (UTC)
I did some testing; you're right. Even after getting the Hand of Vengeance, she's still healing back to 335. I'll make adjustments to the page. Thanks for checking this! --Dmunsil 05:22, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Cass's Caravan Shotgun Edit

I went into Gomorrah with Cass on PS3 and gave all weapons to the guard at the entrance. Upon leaving I noticed that Cass was only equipped with her combat knife and that there was a full condition Caravan shotgun in my inventory. When attempting to return the weapon to Cass, it doesn't show up in my items list. I dropped the weapon and when trying to pick it back up, all it shows is "(X)STEAL" in red letters. I cannot pick it back up. I reloaded (so I at least have the weapon) and sent Cass back to the Ranger outpost. She still does not have her shotgun. Anyone else experience this or know a fix?

Every follower except Rex looses their weapons perminantly if they enter Gomorrah. It cannot be fixed except loading an earlier save. Make your followers wait outside Gomorrah, or they loose their weapons. (Yes, ED-E Looses laser.) Troy242621 01:55, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

Sometimes even when telling them to wait outside make the guns disappear, this happened to me twice, although was before the latest patch 1.2 (PC). Brfritos 06:33, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

No, it's not guaranteed to happen. In fact, it's never happened to me at all, in both an unpatched version of the game and the latest patch.--BWM

Hmm... It happened to me with Boone also, quite frustrating since I was giving him the All American to carry/use >:(. This is after all the latest patches...

Missing Edit

I told her to leave, but not to lucky 38 by accident, where is she?-- 10:24, December 22, 2010 (UTC)

Probably back where you first found her at the trading post. --Pongsifu 10:31, December 22, 2010 (UTC)

No, tried that already, but thanks for trying.-- 10:37, December 22, 2010 (UTC)

  • I had the same problem, remembered I dismissed her in the fort. Fast traveled there and she was just hanging out like that's where she was supposed to be. Not sure if it's something limited to the Fort specifically. If you remember where you dismissed her from, I'd check there, maybe it's something with the fort specifically so I'd check there too. If you don't remember where you left her at and don't want to scour the entire game. You can try looking back through your saves. Find the most recent save you had her and then check around that area with a recent save. Or check the locations of any quests you were on. 02:42, June 19, 2011 (UTC)

I have a similar problem, I dismissed her to the lucky 38 but after recruited Boone I went the lucky 38 and she wasn't their, she was there on prior visits.

What. Turns out im Bi Edit

I had the confirmed bachelor perk, yet i still got the ending with the NCR which she was still supposed to sleep with me. Is the info erroneous or is it a glitch?--Adam Sizzler 08:50, December 24, 2010 (UTC)

Break the fourth wall? Edit

  • If you choose the option "Stick close to me," she will sometimes say "Sorry, I was lagging back there."

should that be added to the article?

It's a player interaction, so I think it should be fine to add it to that section of the page. I cleaned it up a bit, so you could just copy and paste that sentence. But there's no need to try to draw attention to it as a possible pun; players can figure that out on their own.Minor Edits 01:40, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

Guys, the word "lagging" has been around since before the invention of computers. Lagging behind means slowing down. That's all. {{SUBST:Signatures/YuriKaslov}} 02:27, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

At least someone has a smidgen of intelligence, well done Yuri..

Guys - it's *supposed* to be a 'double entendre' - a play on words if you will. It's a sly metagame reference.ClockwerkCowboy 11:15, November 10, 2011 (UTC)

Removing her hat Edit

I saw on another website that it was possible to remove Veronicas hood and expose her hair. I tried it and it works. I tried the same on Cass and it works as well. I added a note under bugs, since that's what it technically is. I would've added it to Veronica as well but there was no room.

Well someone deleted the bug I put about taking off her hat and replaced it with bugs that dont really matter.

That's no bug. It's normal AI behavior of every single NPC in the game, if they have something in inventory they like to equip they do it, even if it means that better multi-slot items are unequipped in the process.-- 19:40, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

Possible Reference? Edit

Am I the only one who thinks Cass's badass cowgirl attitude reminds me of Rubi from WET, another Bethesda game? BOSPalidan 08:54, January 29, 2011 (UTC)

nah. i guess not. but her 'all this travelling's is making me thirsty' comes from here

No, it is not a Seinfeld reference.--Gothemasticator 06:13, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Faction Armor Edit

I know most followers won't carry or use faction armor, but Boone uses NCR armor and Veronica can use BoS armor. I was wondering if Cass can use NCR armor, given her stated (and implied) loyalty to the NCR. --TJbrena 16:35, February 17, 2011 (UTC) I have been able to get her to wear Great Khan simple armor with only a vest and shorts, very hot.

She won't even carry NCR armor; I've tried it all.Tharnhelm 13:32, April 30, 2011 (UTC)

The only GK simple armor I've found is in Chance's grave, and it shows up as "stolen" even though there was no karma loss, and Cass won't wear it. None of the tricks for removing the tag (I'm on PS3) have worked for me: selling, rebuying, etc. I hoped the GK Armorer would carry some, but none has shown up. I'm on friendly terms with the Khan, and am not interested in sneak-killing someone just to get cute clothes for my follower. Any ideas? (BTW, Sarah Weintraub looks very nice in the simple armor also, and Cass looks great in Fiend Painspike armor, and not bad in Blastmaster. Metal armor shows off Cass's excellent figure to advantage as well, but doesn't reveal any of her beautiful complexion. I'd love to see her in Chinese stealth, too.) -- Tharnhelm 14:57, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
I got the Chinese stealth, and I'm glad there were two suits, because I've got both Cass and Veronica wearing it now, and they look fantastic! Hot hot hot! One funny glitch, mentioned elsewhere, is that they continue to wear headgear: Cass with a Great Khan helmet with cute little horns, and Veronica with a desperado hat; both have authority glasses. It all shows through the stealth helmet, giving them an interestingly creepy sci-fi look. Still can't find GK simple armor, though.Tharnhelm 13:32, April 30, 2011 (UTC)

in the boulder city ruins there is a dead khan in the back room of the great khan hideout, and im pretty sure he has gk simple armor

Reloading animation glitch Edit

(PS3)I gave Cass a Level Action Shotgun and I noticed when reloading, she will do the same animation over and over again but this happens rarely. The only way stop her, was telling her to switch to melee. I only noticed it with this particular weapon. Also does she pick up weapons from the ground? Because some how she ended up with a Marksman Carbine. 12:10, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Same goes for the Hunting Shotgun aswell. 08:33, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

It's quite common for companions to randomly pick up weapons if they have a better DPS than the ones they have. Marksman Carbines seem quite popular to companions, particularly the All-American since often i've seen it appear in their inventory while searching for it in the armory.

As for the animation bug, I don't travel with Cass much so I haven't noticed it but what I have noticed is that on occasion after fast traveling, her entire head will vanish except her hat, hair, eyes and lips. When talking to her in this state the camera aims completely elsewhere and goes black except for the talk options. Reloading it seemed to fix it but still strange. her shotgun disappeared Edit

I get back to Harper's Shack (my HQ) to unload her (using companions as mules), and her Caravan Shotgun is missing, and instead she has a 10mm SMG.

Anyone know anything about this?

EDIT: I guess I must have loaded her up with the 10mm unwittingly, because now that I've taken it from her, she seems to have her shotgun on her back again. I guess it just doesn't show up in tradable inventory. 00:42, April 20, 2011 (UTC)

Can't recruit Cass Edit

I've finished "Heartache by The Numbers" quest killing Alice McLafferty at the Crimson Caravan Company and everyone at the Silver Rush but Cass has got no dialogue options to join my team, how can I recruit her?

-Easiest solution is to load an earlier save, unfortunately. This may be patched though. SigmaDelta54 02:31, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

Did Cass have a heart attack? Edit

"Vegas burns brighter than ever, Securitrons fill the streets, and Cass's heart skips... just a little. Her last words are to the Dam - and to herself. "We were going full speed ahead... but facing backwards the whole time."

I find the wording a tad unclear. By "heart skips" and "last words" do they mean that Cass had a heart attack and died at that moment, or is it metaphorical?

Heard of the idea of someone's heart skipping a beat? It's an expression of romance, suprise. Cass wanted a sense of freedom.

Agreed that the skipping a beat is metaphoric, not a heart attack, but it also seems pretty clear that she died with "her last words are to the dam - and to herself" - it is implying she committed suicide...probably jumped off the Dam. 02:22, November 13, 2014 (UTC)

Wrist Glitch Edit

I'm on the PC and for some reason her hands are completely black and she has no wrists is this a known thing because i read the page and didn't find it, also any possible reason for this or just a glitch?--General Darkstar 03:50, July 3, 2011 (UTC)

Mr. House Remarks? Edit

When siding with Mr. House, I remember her saying some comments showing her disaproval of working with House. It was more of her moking him, but still. Should we add something about this to page? --DictatorDom14 03:25, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

Cass's Health at zero Edit

I'm playing the PS3 version and for some reason, Cass's health is completely at zero, and it won't return even after getting knocked out, waiting, or resting. When I try to treat her manually, it lists her health as being 0/0.

Cass and the Lucky 38 Edit

First time you ask her to go to the Lucky 38 she says "Back to the gilded cage" and the text box, rather amusingly states that "Cass has... reluctantly gone back to the Lucky 38" Is this a reference to something that I'm missing or is it just random. I get the feeling that it's a reference to her long stay at the Outpost but it doesn't fit well enough. Anyone mind explaining this one to me because it's not mentioned anywhere on her page and seems rather important to miss out. Our name is Legion 19:57, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

you seem to be trying to make something more of it than there is. She just doesn't like the Lucky 38.

Cass got the itchy feet of a born wanderer. She stated that during your dialogue. Hated staying at Mojave outpost because feeling trapped. So even if Lucky38 is a golden gilded cage, it's still a cage to her. Good eyes, but the thing is important in background sense only.Laclongquan (talk) 17:30, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

Birth date Edit

If you open her file in G.E.C.K. and look at the face section, you'll see that her age is 26, so it should be 2254-2255.

Looked at that too if someone could edit that in the main article that would be better.-Dragonbone

Utterly speculative. Daisy Whitman is 25 according to facegen... GECK is a bag of tricks, don't take everything too literally. --Theodorico (talk) 02:05, November 13, 2012 (UTC)

broken quote? Edit

i killed cass in the "birds of a feather" quest, and then resurrected her again. she now will only say: <Storage Node For High Level Topics: Do Not Translate>

WHAT does that mean, and is there any way to recruit her again?

Mine has Advanced Riot Gear all my companions have Riot gears and upgraded sniper rifles. Anyone notice how dirty she is when she is talking ?

weapon quotes Edit

It seems cass has quotes if a weapon is aimed at her. The two I've heard are

"That better be full of rock salt or I'm kicking your ass"

"Don't make me take that away from you"

Are these included in the quotes? Do other companions have similar quotes?

Yes, I've heard Boone say stuff like "How about I point my gun at you for a while, see how you like it?" 'Course, that was after knocking him unconscious 2 or 3 times...

25 Oct Edit

My reverts were on me reading the page wrong. I agree with Leon that as the caravan is pretty much eliminated, although Cass at the start of NV owns a company called Cassidy's Caravans, the company is pretty much inactive at that point, and Cass doesnt see much hope in getting it going again. Agent c (talk) 00:04, October 25, 2012 (UTC)

Yet, Alice McLafferty seeks to buy it, and this is not going to happen without Courier's intervention. So it's kinda too early to burry it. --Theodorico (talk) 00:14, October 25, 2012 (UTC)

Alice doesn't know that the Cassidy Caravans only exists as an idea, however. I can bet you that she's going to end up pissed once she finds out that her Caravans no longer exist. :P In any case, the Cassidy Caravans would still cease to exist. Alice makes it quite clear she was only going to buy her caravans so she could liquidate it. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 00:16, October 25, 2012 (UTC)

Alice McLafferty ordered slaughtering of Cassidy Caravans (along with Durable Dunn's caravan), so she is quite aware of it's current state. (see Heartache by the Number). Nonetheless, in the beginning of the game Cassidy Caravans exists and Cass owns it, so she is in an affiliation with it. Everything else is up to the Courier. --Theodorico (talk) 00:28, October 25, 2012 (UTC)
She was using that merely as a scare tactic. As evident through dialogue with her, she still considers the Cassidy Caravans as a direct threat to her franchise; meaning she still harbours the illusion that the Cassidy Caravans are still in business. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 01:30, October 25, 2012 (UTC)
Two reasons why she want to buy the tittle of CC: 1st is to completely eliminate a competitor. You must make your opponent say quit, and the buying act is to accomplish that. She sold the caravan bearing her family name, it's not much quit than that. 2nd is to erase doubts. If anyone investigate her company for destroying competitors, she can point to that deed as proof she only want to compete fair and square.Laclongquan (talk) 17:35, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

"Guess who won the lottery." Edit

I want to explain my thoughts:

  1. Original note: When Cass and the Courier are fighting Legion she will comment saying "Guess who won the lottery!" refrencing the lottery in Nipton.
  2. Chechking GECK: This "bark" isn't legion specific, just a random AlertToCombat comment.
  3. Rewriting: During combat she may comment saying "Guess who won the lottery" refrencing the lottery in Nipton.
  4. Lottery part: If there's no connection with the Legion, can we be so sure that she's referencing that particular lottery in Nipton? No proof of that.
  5. Rewriting: During combat she may comment saying "Guess who won the lottery".
  6. Is it worth to be noted? No.
  7. Removing.

4 Skill checks Edit

When you go to recruit her she has an option to choose from 2 barter (50 or 75) and 2 speech skill (50 or 75) checks together, do any of them give a different result? Dragonalumni (talk) 14:49, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

Nope; all four get her to sell her caravan. There's just the option to get experience points with the higher skill checks. --Kastera (talk) 16:42, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

On what the Powder Gangers say when having Cass as a companion: The words, "Amusingly enough" is a semi-personal opinion and should not be included. --Draven Mephilés of Faerûn (talk) 00:42, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

Freezing bugs Edit

Should bugs about the game freezing really be considered noteworthy for the page? The game is almost guaranteed to freeze in high memory areas on PS3 as it is. Or if you just sneeze at your console half the time... Great Mara (talk) 18:01, July 3, 2017 (UTC)
