Mad Max Quote[]

Just an FYI, I deleted the bit that said MacCready quotes Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome's Gyro Captain's son. I went and checked the movie and the line is, "Anybody moves and they're dead meat." MacCready says "I'll blow your fuckin' head off." Not quite the same.

HABlestb 19:11, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

He's not actually Gyro's son the guy in Beyond Thunderdome is called Jedediah they are both played by Bruce Spence however George Miller said they are different characters.

Quotes[]

I just cut back the quotes to 5. Could someone check that the remaining quotes are indeed in the game and accurate as written? There's a few that I don't recall having seen/heard before, particularly the antagonistic ones. --Kris User Hola 16:46, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Behind The Scenes[]

His comment, "That makes me Mayor For Fucking Life," is a reference to DC mayor Marion Barry. 173.73.203.160 02:01, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

MacCready and "helping children" (SPOILERS: Hole In The Wall Quest)[]

I see that he is labeled as "loving" this behavior in Fallout 4 but might be worth noting, he actually dislikes when you give the cure to save Austin in the Hole In The Wall quest in Vault 81. At least, that was my experience (as I initially brought him along for this quest for that sole reason, thinking he'd like helping the kid).

In this case that's kinda logical because he travelled to the Commonwealth to find a cure for his kid and has to watch you give away the only dose of the ultimate cure to another one. --213.196.255.232 19:55, December 1, 2015 (UTC)

Fallout 4 ID?[]

Anyone know what his RefID in Fallout 4 is? The ID listed appears to be his Fallout 3 data.

-His Fallout 4 RefID is 0002a8a7, went to edit it in but it's protected.

His steal "like" worth nothing...[]

Wanted to raise his affection by stealing items(easy repeatable). He "like it" still after hour of stealing(used quicksave-quickload. and he "like" every time) his affecion is still same. Need some testing with different items(i used get-drop-quicksave-quickload-repeat). And other his "likes". Or maybe im unlucky and he just bugged in my game(

There's a small delay (a few in game minutes) between two like triggers. The easiest way to raise his affinity is to stand near an owned contenair and to drop/take something inside. It's worth 15 affinity points. Huillam (talk) 20:48, November 28, 2015 (UTC)

Fallout 4 Companion[]

He dislikes it if you free Lorenzo

He liked it when I tested the Minuteman Artillery as part of Old Guns. Can't edit the page, but someone else cna add it

He likes when you do headshots in V.A.T.S. Very hard to command, bugged

Page Quote[]

Why are we still using his old FO3 quote? IIRC someone added a fitting quote from FO4 a while ago, complete with a clean audio file, but someone reverted it because the audio file's name was "bad."

I honestly don't know why it isn't being enforced. Yes, MacCready said "mungo" a lot, so these quotes should stay in the 'notable quotes' but not as his main one, as it no longer represents him as a character. Same goes with Arthur Maxson's page.--StagsKilledDragons (talk) 04:39, December 14, 2015 (UTC)

he gives you fusion core?[]

cool; is that a leveled thing, as in he gives those to you when your level is much higher? so far he's only given me regular rounds of ammo. Also seems he gives you less ammo compared to how much candy Piper gives you :P

Yeah, he gives you fusion cores. I don't know if it's random or not, I'm level 36 and he gave me a fusion core. --Chaoticdumpster (talk) 12:50, January 6, 2016 (UTC)

MacCready's Wife[]

So it isn't confirmed nor denied that Lucy from little lamplight is Maccready's wife, however based on their Fallout 3 dialogue and the coincidence that I think it should still be mentioned. Maybe in the Notes section so people can make their own assumption.

Once idolized, MacCready gives the player a wooden soldier toy, a gift from his wife. This proves that Robert's wife - the same Lucy from Little Lamplight. The man who present a toy, knew Robert since childhood.
The game states that he met Lucy after he told her that he was a soldier when he met her. She made the toy for him after that. Not possible that it's the same Lucy. Great Mara (talk) 02:11, December 20, 2015 (UTC)
I highly doubt they'd reuse the same name for MacCready's wife. It's her without a doubt. It's a little callback to FO3 having the two become husband and wife. --StagsKilledDragons (talk) 22:04, December 20, 2015 (UTC)
I respectively disagree with the above comment. MacCready was the major of Little Lamplight, and then picked up a new profession (gunner) after he left. FO3 Lucy would not necessarily have known anything about MacCready's new profession. (He wasn't a solider at Little Lamplight either, for example.) Given all of MacCready's references to FO3, and Lucy's involvement in some of the quest lines, I do think Lucy is Lucy.--Lindsaybrooker (talk) 18:46, December 22, 2015 (UTC)
I would argue that its "possible" he may have said that when Lucy (FO3) was first brought to Little Lamplight. They are all orphans and there is no description of how any of them first arrived. In FO3 he is the mayor at 10 but only after Princess and fairly recent to the game (FO3) timeframe. In FO3 he's already is a bit "hard" meaning more than one fight behind him - i.e. a survivor and child-soldier long before becoming mayor or even arriving at Little Lamplight.
Its not hard to believe he was scouting, scavenging, defending, etc. before becoming mayor and met Lucy (FO3) bringing her to Little Lamplight (or vice versa), or even that he met her while surviving the world of FO3 finding Little Lamplight together or maybe as part of a group of young orphans. Then later, as they aged out of Little Lamplight, leaving together as husband and wife.
Also, how many "adults" make toys for someone they like of the same "adult" age.
You are assuming he made that statement to his soon to be wife Lucy (FO4) after leaving Little Lamplight then meeting her but as I've shown, that assumption is as unproven as all of my possibilities listed above which are just as logical and any of which account for Lucy giving him a toy, something a child would do but far less likely for an adult.
Also, Bethesda likes integrating one game to another sprinkling backward references all over the place, in the Elder Scrolls series as well as the FO series. I really don't think they would have used the same name of a named FO3 character of the same space (Little Lamplight) by accident in a followup game (FO4). Especially two named characters of the same space as with here. They leave it to our imaginations to create the backstory behind their usage.

I also see the information provided as being vague enough to be either the same Lucy from Little Lamplight or a completely different one. While it's likely it's the same one because they were close in Fallout 3 and this is Bethesda we're talking about, it's never actually verified outright so I'd say it's still up in the air. Since it's going back and forth, I like the Notes idea presented in the first comment here. I took a stab at adding one! --Snarkie (talk) 06:43, February 1, 2016 (UTC)

I find this MacCready Possible Headcanon Timeline very reasonable and interesting. For short,
It is possible that MacCready leaves the Little Lamplight 1 years earlier than Lucy and become a gunner. In which, when Lucy leaves the Little Lamplight a year later to meet him she wouldn't know that he joins the gunners. Which supports BOTH arguments together.
  • He could lie that he was a soldier without Lucy knowing. (because they didn't leave LL at the same time, hence they aren't with eachother all the time. There was the gap.)
  • Lucy giving him the carved 'toy' soldier doesn't look like gifts that "adults" will give to another "adult" as a gift. They are likely knew eachother since childhood or have memories behind it.
  • (imo)It is unlikely that Bethesda 'accidentally' uses characters of same name especially when they are in the same/close network. They like to sprinkle easter eggs and references everywhere.

Disappearing MacCready[]

So I was playing with MacCreedy earlier and made it onto the Prydwen after the start of the quest Shadow of Steel, I had listed to the speech and Dance wanted me to talk to the other people on the ship and wanted to become my compainion, I allowed him and sent MacCreedy to Sanctuary Hills, after talking to the people I was suppose to, I look on my map and it says there is one extra person in my settlement, which I assume to be MacCreedy since I sent him there, I fast traveled to the settlement and start to look for him and he isn't there, I ring the bell I set up to get everyone to come to it and he still isn't there, I look on my map and it now says there is one less settler. He vanished and I don't know why, I reload and try again, this time fast traveling to Red Rocket, I look on my map and it says the extra settler is there,' The second I step onto the bridge to get into the settlement there is now one less settler, has this happened to anyone else?

Glitch Confirm[]

The aforementioned glitch involving MacCready happened to me as well. I recruited MacCready and instantly sent him to Greentop Nursery because I was busy trying to get Codsworth to max relationship and needed to get MacCready out of my way. Later I went to do more Brotherhood of Steel quests and reached the Prydwen, where I instantly decided to recruit Paladin Danse because I preferred him as a companion. I then opted to travel back to Greentop Nursery because I sent Codsworth there and needed to get some salvage back from him. When I arrived, MacCready was nowhere to be found, although I could still supposedly hear him talking to Cait. I spent over 5 straight days of gameplay with MacCready being supposedly invisible before he magically came back. He vanished right after I brought Paladin Danse back home after recruiting him in Shadow of Steel.
