Two things; 1. What is the source for this information? 2. Assuming this info is legit, and it IS indeed a unique version of the Legendary Deathclaw, I am going to hide from it. I deliberately haven't discovered the Dead Wind Cavern, out of fear of the plethora of Deathclaws that reside there. I'm a level 40, combat oriented, NCR alligned, Messiah, I have done most everything, but I am still petrified with fear at the thought of being in the heart of Deathclaw territory and the thought of being jumped by one. --Delta1138 SnooPING AS usual I see 20:13, September 20, 2011 (UTC)
- Get the flare gun and go to Dead Wind Cavern, and the only thing you'll be in danger of dying from is laughter. Hit it with a flare, or land one close enough to set it on fire, and even the Legendary Deathclaw runs whimpering away. So long as you don't run out of flamer fuel (remember the flare gun uses 10 flamer fuel for one shot), you can just jerk them around any way you please. I cleared the Legendary Deathclaw's lair by driving it and the other deathclaws in there over to one corner with flares, and laying a crapload of mines, C-4, and satchel charges at the exit. When I took off and the deathclaws recovered their courage, they ran over the mines and got blown to hamburger in a huge explosion. Wunengzi 01:27, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
well than your just like me and also there are some deathclaws on the overpass of the divide dont know if you can get past them or not i would suggest using the flare gun --Corporal grif 20:16, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

Why Merge?[]
And what with? Rawr is a uniquely named Deathclaw akin to Stripe and as such, should have its own page. Message 09:00, September 21, 2011 (UTC)
- I just believe, since it's a deathclaw, it should be on the deathclaw page for FNV. No need to have more pages of the same creature, even if it's unique. TrailerParkApe TPA 09:04, September 21, 2011 (UTC)
- Include it on the disambiguation page for deathclaws, and then let it have its own page. I'm with Mara on that one. Hugs "Say 'ello to my little friend!"
- Unique named creatures get there own page and are considered a character, this is no different than Stripe, Moe, every named super mutant (Fawkes etc.), Dogmeat, Fluffy and Jitters etc. The list goes on and was discussed at the time with Stripe, with the consensus being as I have said above. 19:32, September 22, 2011 (UTC)

Easy Kill[]
An easy way to kill him (at least on Normal) is to shoot him with the Flare gun to make him flee, he will run under the warhead embedded in the roof of his cave, hit the warhead with the laser designator and it will explode causing the roof to collapse on top of him. Killing him instantly. --Occam's Razor 05:49, September 22, 2011 (UTC)
- I used the same tactic, though I also used the Compliance Regulator to ensure that he stayed underneath the warhead. I also wonder if he has a specific behavioral script that tells him to run toward the nuke if shot with the flare gun...--74.177.70.49 02:30, January 19, 2012 (UTC)
- He sounds nasty, but not really. One VATS burst with the .45 SMG (Normal difficulty) put him down. It was a nasty surprise when he appeared though. --Rooker75 04:00, September 23, 2011 (UTC)
Three VATS headshots, .308 JSP from Christine's COS Rifle. He didn't even get within glaring distance... BunnyCommando 23:27, September 23, 2011 (UTC)
i just happend to be crouching when i got trapped in cave, and he didnt detect me! so while trying to keep my nerve i raised my "Christine's rife" carefully, zeroed him, a popped him with a single HP 308 round! -i though i was a gonner as soon as i layed eyes on him! -god, i get reelly lucky in this game, occasionally! ↑↑↑ Funny, something like that happened to me -- the creature saw me and knew I was there *but* couldn't move, for some reason (looked like that irish dance to me) -- so I stood behind a rock and shot at him with Christine's COS silencer rifle and boom, job done in less than a minute. In a previous poll I had mentioned I'd go through this ENTIRE DLC with a suit, tie, and silenced .22 handgun. This deathclaw made me cringe... I finally said 'screw it', pulled out the .45 Auto SMG, and blew him away with a rat-a-tat-tat. Still hurt like hell, though.
I stumbled across Rawr and managed to get two .50 AP rounds buried in his chest before he got too close and ripped me to shreds. It did quite a bit of damage and I'm sure a third shot would've killed him. General Geers 08:51, January 16, 2012 (UTC)
An easy kill with only Lonesome Road stuff is one or two VATS shoots of nails to the knee, and about 6 Satchel Charges-ish. This works very well.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.239.49.18 (talk • contribs) 19:32, 1 March 2017. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!
The use of Rawr's name as an onomatopoeia?[]
A note has been inserted several times asserting that "rawr" is also the sound made by animals playing, used in comics to represent a lion's roar, etc.
Is this really notable and necessary in an article on Fallout series of games? If one of the designers named it after his/her childhood stuffed toy, perhaps, but a reference to the use of the name as an onomatopoeic word seems a bit much.
Anyone have any thoughts on the subject? Thanks! — UncleBubba ( T @ C ) 18:55, October 15, 2011 (UTC)
- Too vague to count as a reference. The humorous intent is obvious, but without developer confirmation of something specific I don't think it's necessary on the page. --FourWayDiablo(talk) 03:01, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
I personally think this section should be kept. Rawr is the word used in most comics for a roar of an animal but if a rather uneducated person, or perhaps a person who is learning english, sees this he might think "WTF is this word? Where does it come from?" and he will want to know what it means.(Nemerian 04:58, October 20, 2011 (UTC))
- But it's pretty clear that Rawr is a name, and it's not any more confusing than, say, Razz, Thump-Thump, Flash bang, Knock-Knock, or any of a dozen others. I don't think we should be taking this path because, if we do, we're going to be diluting our content with way too much trivia. — UncleBubba ( T @ C ) 07:18, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
- We mention the same thing about the pistol Pew Pew, I don't see why we should mention it there but not here. I say it stays. Hugs "Say 'ello to my little friend!"
- Not for nothin' but, if that's the case, perhaps the notability of the Pew Pew reference should be examined, as well. ;-) — UncleBubba ( T @ C ) 07:21, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
From the Guidelines: (I know, I know, last refuge of the desperate argument >_< )
Criteria for specific content
- "Behind the scenes" information in the form of cultural references is acceptable page content only when there are direct visual or textual correlations.
I think the important word is direct. Not sure if this helps or hinders, but it's something concrete to base the discussion on. This whole thing may be better as a forum topic (and no doubt has been several times), as it relates to many pages. --FourWayDiablo(talk) 20:57, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
Fight?[]
How does Rawr compare to stripe, or the legendary deathclaw? Can someone make a video of the fight? Zombo-tech (talk) 00:43, August 18, 2013 (UTC)
Cannot be knocked down by normal means?[]
The article is somewhat unclear about what it considers normal means of knockdown, as it only mentions the Ranger Takedown move specifically. However, there are certainly other methods of knocking down enemies. My character was wielding a Blade of the West, which like similar two handed melee weapons (fire axe, super sledge, etc.) has a special Mauler attack. If you do the Mauler from VATS, it guarantees a knockdown, and this worked on Rawr. Additionally, I had the Super Slam! perk, which gives you a 30% knockdown chance for two-handed melee weapons. As I was hitting Rawr repeatedly with the Blade of the West, it could not get up and fight back, which meant that perk is capable of knocking it down as well. Therefore it seems like Ranger Takedown is the only method that does not work; all others work fine. Frozenwolf150 (talk) 05:45, May 22, 2017 (UTC)
Lots of errors on this page.[]
Rawr cannot be knocked down by normal means. If the Ranger Takedown is used on him, it will simply be staggered. This is false. Both times I knocked down Rawr I used the Ranger Takedown. In fact, this was the only way to beat him unarmed as the normal knockdown perk never processed when I struck him. I used Ranger Takedown, then VATS followed by 2 stomps for a win. I'm playing on the PC with no mods that change knockdown, weapons or perk properties, or enemy behavior.
Melee damage: 350 Needs 3 hits to kill someone in power armor with max DT at 25 I had 450 HP and 40 DT at level 31 with 10 endurance. He was one-shotting me with his dual claw swipe. His single hand swipe did about 70% damage. This was on normal difficulty.

- I think that the 350 comes from the game files, but I'm not sure where the bit about power armour does, or what difficulty/level they were on to survive three hits. As for the knockdown, I think that Rawr is meant to be immune to knockdown effects, but sometimes the Ranger Takedown will work (I think someone else went into more detail further up the page).
