What I think this should be is a microwave with a hole on the bottom that you stick on heads and turn on, popping their heads after 30 secs or something. TheLastNinJew 16:05, 21 June 2009 (UTC)The Last NinJew

Heh sounds like a Dead Rising Weapon, it might be the "mesmetron looking thing" though. which makes me thing of the usual halo but in red and on impact it sets enemies on fire. Can't wait to use this one. Gabriel Cortez 16:23, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Can I repair my Mesmetron, now? Nitpicker of the Wastes 16:39, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
This is probably a unique weapon so I think you'd be better off letting wolfgang repair it fo ya. Gabriel Cortez 16:40, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Can someone provide a source for the stats posted? --Captain192 23:34, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

yeah where did any of these stats come from?

I got the stats from a guy who got Point Lookout before they stopped the downloads, he made a thread at Gamefaqs Fallout 3 board where he revealed a couple of spoilers including this one's damage and ammo. Gabriel Cortez 10:33, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Apparently some guy who was testing this gun out said it was terrible. Simply a reskinned mesmetron, with mediocre damage and the shots take time to get there. Although apparently when you get a critical hit with this gun your enemy disintegrates. Amorality 12:19, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Well it is a mesmetron after all, the difference is that with this gun you don't have to worry about the ammo. Hell I never use VATS with metal blaster and I miss with 1/3 of my shots and I don't use plasma rifle becuse the shots travel slower in the air so the enemy only have to step right or left and I miss so it's all about timing I guess or VATS usage. Gabriel Cortez 12:55, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

What the fuck so the only bad thing about this weapon is that no one can repair it? and tbh i hated the mesmetron i was hoping this gun will look like a ray gun Elvoblue

Mesmetron[]

So it doesnt enslave? i downloaded it but havent gotten to play yet. just wanna clear up so i dont kill someone instead of enslave.173.17.185.188 05:40, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

I have gotten this weapon and i still havnt mesmerized anyone... every time is use it.. They explode. lol kinda hoping i could get some caps from some suckers..

This is not a Mesmetron. That's why it doesn't enslave people. You get the Mesmetron from a guy in Paradise Falls. This weapon is called a Microwave Emitter, and it's found in Point Lookout. The Mesmetron enslaves people, while the Microwave Emitter is a weapon that burns people. They look the same, but that's just because the folks at Bethesda are lazy. (Or, to give them the benefit of the doubt, very busy.)12.204.48.130 07:54, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Mabyee they are making mothership zeta extra awsome

??? Have You even Played Point Lookout? its like Fallout 3.5 its that awesome, what ever comes out after this is just icing on the cake... TheRepublicOfDave 17:37, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

In my opinion, this weapon is being highly underestimated, Ths weapon has a higher base than A3-21, Assuming you cant shoot this outside of VAT's. which I'm sure most people wont, This cant take more benefit from crits than say the Metal Blaster? gets a very nice SAC, So i'd say its a good bone that Bethesda threw out there. --Nosferus 05:05, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

Still, out of VATS, its attack speed is very slow compared to some other weapons. Plus needs recharge after every 5 shots. P22 05:16, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

Request some clarification in the "Notes" section[]

Two lines in the article have me a little puzzled:

  • When you reload this weapon the PC loads a Mesmetron Power Cell, not a Microfusion Cell.

... does this mean that in the PC version of the game, the weapon uses the wrong ammo? Or does PC mean "player character?" Does it mean that the reload animation simply makes it look like the wrong ammo is being used, but the weapon actually uses Microfusion Cells? (That's what I think it's trying to say.)

  • This weapon damages your target automatically upon impact so you do not need to worry about probability of a head exploding.

... I have no idea what this means. I think every weapon in the game "damages your target automatically upon impact," doesn't it? And what is this about exploding heads? Why should I worry about whether or not someone's head is going to explode? (Except my own, of course... I worry about that all the time. Especially when I read sentences like the one above... then I really worry about my head exploding!!)

Thanks for any clarification! Please don't think I don't appreciate the effort, because I do. Just want to make sure I understand what the article is saying. 12.204.48.130 07:49, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that this weapon is always instakill when it's a critical.

Yeah, I was wondering about those sentences a well. What the first one's trying to say is that ammo is hard to come by/expensive (200 caps for 10), I think. The second sentence...I don't know, they're both wierd and probably should be rewritten or removed until someone can understand them. 213.65.69.18 23:00, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

I clarified the one about the reload animation and removed the one about the exploding heads...type...thing. I couldnt figure out what it meant either and figured it wasnt needed since it didnt add anything WouldYouKindly 05:27, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

PC in this case means Player Character. The second sentence refers to the tendancy for the mesmetron to make people's heads explode, just in case people were wondering due to the shared player model.
Ahh, okay then. Thank you for the editing and for the explanation. I can feel the pressure in my own head decreasing now! :) 12.204.48.130 07:04, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

it doesn't instakill on my version on a critical, but it blew a huge chunk of health, about 1/2, out of a reaver 62.163.88.139 10:20, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

I looked this thing up in the GECK. It doesn't automatically kill on a critical, it just does 100 bonus damage (150 with better criticals, of course) and ignores normal weapon resistance (like the deathclaw gauntlet). So it doesn't automatically kill, but unless you're fighting a Reaver, Albino Radscorpion, or Behemoth, it will look like it :P Though to be honest, the Alien Blaster still does more damage. --Macros 10:37, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Tried to used it a few times in real time, even with CSA and melee distance, the "microwave" fails to reach the target before she (a smuggler) detects me, render the attack in to a normal one instead of a sneak. Along with the rather "terrible" crit multiplier, sight blocking and slow firing rate, this thing is probably VATS only --Scarvet 15:23, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Weapon ammo type isn't showing up[]

on the weapon chart, what's the reason for this, I tried correcting it but it still won't show up. It'd be kinda important to know at a glance this is a MF cell weapon and not a special ammo weapon.

Clarification Request[]

  • "Strongest weapon (not including The Fat Man) to use on any robot."

Looking at it in the GECK, I can't see anything that would cause the Microwave Emitter to do additional damage against robots, other than having the Deathclaw Gauntlet's property of "Ignore Normal Weapon Resistance". Both the Pulse Grenade and Pulse Mine do EMP damage, which is what I believe causes the additional damage against robots. Can anyone identify what might make the Microwave Emitter more effective against robots than other enemies? --Keris Rain 13:18, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

When I made this comment, I didn't notice anything that gave it extra damage vs. robots either. But I'll admit, I didn't do a thorough search. I formatted my computer recently and haven't reinstalled Fallout yet, so I can't check right now either :\ --Macros 17:49, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Well, as it doesn't look like anyone else has an answer, I'll take the line out of the article for now. If anyone can show that it does do additional damage to robots (preferably with a reference to the GECK), then feel free to put it back in. --Keris Rain 19:43, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Throw-In[]

Is it just me, or does this seem to have been put in as a afterthought? Bethesda didn't even bother changing the Mes Cells to Microfusion Cells. 82.2.17.36 15:00, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

yeah sure probably. but who cares? it's not like the biggest most important weapon in the game, it's just a minor reward. Bethesda was just being resourceful.

Possible unique property?[]

Does this weapon have a higher chance exploding the enemy into little bloody bits or is it just me?

Weapons that do higher damage have a higher change of gibbing enemies, even without Bloody Mess. --Macros 11:50, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Weaker enemies will explode into pieces with one shot when being sneak attacked with bloody mess, however stronger ones such as feral ghoul reavers, super mutant overlords etc etc tend not to at all..for particularly gory kills aim for the body on a feral ghoul and watch them explode

Edited the "see also" on this article[]

I changed the "used extensively by the slavers" because it's false. Only Grouse was in possession of a mesmetron and it's a prototype which he didn't even get to use.

Ammo[]

"When you reload this weapon the animation shows the PC loading a Mesmetron power cell, not a microfusion cell. However, microfusion cells are still loaded as normal."

Am I alone in thinking it was (originally) intended for it to actually use mesmetron power cells and not microfusion cells? There are a lot of these in the lab complex. Yeryry 15:28, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Crits Comparison[]

Is it just me, or does this weapon blow most others away for criticals? It does more damage on a crit (160) than the MPLX Novasurge (155), the Gauss Rifle & Tesla Cannon (150), Callahan's Magnum (115) or A3-21's Plasma Rifle (100). It doesn't attain the Alien Blaster's level (200), but it doesn't require a very limited ammo type, either. Of course, shotguns can do stupidly huge crits, but they're very short range.

It's also got a low spread, and although the crit mult is nothing special, that's not a problem in sneak. Omnilynx 04:54, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Real Damage by Microwave Emitter[]

For fun, I tried it on a few targets.

  • At An Albino Radscorpion

Virtually no damage. Set it on fire, sure, but took out maybe one or two bar of health. Had to resort to a different weapon to kill the darn thing.

  • At raiders

Use VATS to hit a raider, any body part. Gibbed it into pieces, not even a finger to find (I have Lawbringer Perk) and also set nearby things on fire, including other raiders. Other raiders killed by "fire" set by this does NOT drop finger.

  • At Supermutants

You *can* gib supermutants with the microwave emitter, but it's rather rare.

I'll report back when I try it on other folks, like Talon company and so on.
