The perk? Edit

In the the notes it says "Male characters can use the perk instead." after talking about the black widow perk, which perk is being refered to for the male?

or is the mechinest very hard to kill when you first see him in cantabery commons same with antagonizer?

Difficult, yes, but not impossible. I've done it twice now, usually it requires the Shady Sands Shuffle but with sufficient big guns skill and a Fat Man in good condition, it's possible to take 'em out with that instead. Or the Experimental MIRV at any level of skill, and any condition, but be careful of the civilians. As always with the Fat Man or MIRV, save before firing. Kris (talk) 16:32, July 30, 2010 (UTC)

I tested that Alien Blaster to see if it was effective, I took me a couple of shots to just kill the antagonizer.

Friends with every robot, not just his. Edit

This guy is allied to hostile robots somehow. I followed him out into the wasteland, he passed through a hostile sentry bot without getting attacked. When I got close and the sentry bot acquired me as a target, the Mechanist turned hostile, AGAINST ME! Yes, but he died. I followed him as he made his way SouthWest, going in as much of a straight line as I could tell. He died in Bethesda Ruins. This was when he was the first person coerced to give up his/her costume, on a PS3, no add-ons. Byrnt 07:24, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

Confirming and expanding on the last comment. I visited him first and used the option for the Mechanist to leave town via the Speech test (before I had visited the AntAgonizer) Then, followed him when he left the building. First he wandered south west, passing just south of Wheaton armory (he killed a gate guard), then he followed the road continuing due south west. As noted above he arrived at Bethesda ruins but continued on for a bit, before moving off the road and ended up at a makeshift shelter (location of a Duck and Cover! book) situated under the north end of the bridge (over the Potomac) located due north of Super-Duper Mart. The shelter has a Frag mine at the entrance so he would normally die here if not already killed on the journey (it was night so he avoided most and killed a couple en-route) However I deactivated it before he arrived. Once there I used Wait and observed his behavior. He did nothing except at night used the mattress there to sleep and stand in the shelter during the day. As soon as my character moved out of viewing distance (moving over the bridge) he despawned either right after reaching the final location, or after several days while staying close and using Wait. So it seems he has two paths depending whether you deal with him first or second. PC version. --Lunamoonraker (talk) 22:43, May 31, 2014 (UTC)

Fallout 4 - Silver Shroud Edit

I feel like we're going to want more information connecting the two. At least something saying that the Mechanist from the past was a villain and that our Mechanist sees himself as a hero, possibly just due to not knowing about the true nature of the serial character or something.--Est Nikkas Oth Mithas (talk) 22:24, November 21, 2015 (UTC)

No, it's actually not possible, Scott was known to have adopted the persona, and is not a prewar character like ghouls or the Sole Survivor. I'm just going to alter the appearances to reflect it and be accurate.--Est Nikkas Oth Mithas (talk) 02:27, February 22, 2016 (UTC)

even if it's not the same person, it's actually the same character. As a regular visitor, i would suggest making the mechanist page, and explain separatly who played this character in F3 et F4. ~~Culigan March, the 15, 2016.
We have no way of knowing if it is the same character or not. Having the same name means nothing, especially when the FO3 Mechanist and FO4 Mechanist aren't even acting the same way. For now, they definitely should not share a page. Paladin117>>iff bored; 17:39, March 15, 2016 (UTC)

I agree, the similarity between these characters is a real issue. If the connection is not proven (or real) then the page should day that, instead of ignoring this. The likelyhood that the Bethesda team intended no connection or overlooked it is low.
