In my first run through this quest, I looked all over Oasis, but Branchtender Maple was nowhere to be seen. I didn't find her body outside, so it didn't appear she was killed, unless she chased after something. There was a Deathclaw fighting some Outcasts just before the bridge when I was heading into the small valley passage to Oasis, and I sneaked past them with the thought that I'd loot the bodies (and kill the Deathclaw if it was still around) on my way out... perhaps it got too close and a chase ensued, leading to her being killed a ways away from Oasis? Anyhoo, whatever the reason, she wasn't there, thus I couldn't speak with her beforehand or receive the reward. After reloading an earlier save to play through again, she was there.
