It is much more better then A3-21. Lower AP cost, better base dmg, better crit dmg, better crit multiplier. The only disadvantage is that you can only shoot 8 times until reload, but that's not a huge problem imo.Omenwww 17:05, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

a good way to get this gun if u dont have the skill to hack the computer is to go to the cargo hold with elliot. he will most likely grab the gun.i didnt even notice he had picked it up until i was back in the engineering core..im playing on 360 someone confirm this?im not sure about this all i know that he had the gun when we came out of the cargo hold.
There's a confirmed bug I've tested several times where the Novasurge does not appear in the safe.
This is only the case if the game is not properly patched to version 1.7 beforehand. In one instance, I even managed to patch the game outside the storage bay, enter, only to find the weapon not there.
Fortunately for me, I had a previous save from before I started the DLC, so I was able to restart the DLC from the beginning and get it without problems after patching up to 1.7. But I'm not certain when you need to be patched, but it would seem that if you patch the game just before you enter the storage bay, it will not take effect and the weapon will not be present in the safe.

Durability and repair ability. The A3-21 is twice as durable and plasma pistols are typically only found on officers while Plasma rifles are found in abundance on enclave soldiers whom are more common. You can get two or three plasma rifles from an enclave camp while only getting one from the single officer stationed there. Compared to A3-21 Edit
Advantages of A3-21: Better range, more shots per clip (12 vs 8), twice as durable , a bit more accurate, easier to repair, & less expensive per shot. Disadvantages of A3-21: less damage (50 vs 80), less crit damage (50 vs. 75), lower crit multiplier, 4 more AP to fire, & 2lbs heavier. So A3-21 is a better bet at range. Both are excellent with the only overall drawback being they use the more expensive MF Cell ammo, but then most of the better energy weapons do, aside from those that use alien power modules or the very rare alien power cells.--188.8.131.52 01:06, September 26, 2009 (UTC)
The MPLX Novasurge does about 20% more DPS, ~60% (!!) more damage per shot (which makes up for the A3-21's larger clip size), and is almost twice as efficient as the A3-21 in terms of damage per action point. It's only real combat disadvantage is that it has a 0.5 spread compared to the A3-21's 0.2 so it's not as good for long range shooting. Outside of combat, the MPLX is a bigger hassle to upkeep. Half the health and requires the rarer Plasma pistol. You'll usually have to go out of your way to hit Enclave sites and farm pistols from Officers and Hellfire troopers. --Ocdscale 00:43, October 30, 2009 (UTC)

- I wasn't sure so I did the smart thing. That glitch is really annoying but at least I knew what he took and reloaded and ensured that he didn't get it the second time. Graphics glitch Edit

Flaw in MPLX Novasurge's "Location"-text Edit
It is stated that the Cargo Hold becomes inaccessible after teleporting to the Bridge. My experience is that it becomes inaccessible way before that. On the PC-version the teleport to the Death Ray Hub Area is a one way trip, which means that you no longer go back to the Cargo Hold.
