Behind the Scenes Edit

I'm sure these two are based on a John Mellencamp song. A lot of song and/or singer references in this game. KaisarDragon 00:54, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

Perhaps if the song was older and had anything whatsoever to do with drug dealers, etc. Mictlantecuhtli 01:23, November 19, 2010 (UTC)
Why does the song need to be "older?" Presumably, you're aware of how many other cultural references there are in this game that reference things from the '80s? Very broadly, "Jack and Diane" was a song about "Two American kids growing up in the heartland." and Jack and Diane easily fit the description. It's surprising to me that you insist it isn't just because the song doesn't make mention of drug dealing. Well, the song also doesn't make mention of Nevada, or Fiends, or Anders or the Legion either. Honestly, how explicit do these references need to be? Do you really need the developers to come out and spell things out for you? It's definitely a reference to the Mellencamp song. Not a doubt in my mind. 11:12, June 9, 2011 (UTC)
I'm sure it's a reference too, but not something we can put in the article. It's not really fallout-y, and there exists the possibility of a coincidence, however remote that may be. --Kris User Hola 02:12, November 19, 2010 (UTC)
Just wanted to point out that this song reference has been intentionally removed from this article, as well as Diane (Fallout: New Vegas), yet it is currently listed in the Behind the Scenes section of Papa Khan. Also, while I totally understand the admins having a high standard for fact-checking in BTS/trivia stuff, I do have to agree that it really is most likely a reference to the Mellencamp song... It seems pretty blatant, down to some minute details like their looks in game and in the music video, even if it doesn't fit with the period of the other music references. Anyway, there should at least be some consistency. MayaMayhem 02:56, July 4, 2011 (UTC)
Which is why it is on the talk page. Eventually a developer will come right out and tell us. KaisarDragon 04:49, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

There really should have been a mission about those two called: "A little diddy" and it should have included a back story for them both, like a really detailed back story.

Teaching Jack - Hydra Edit

Not sure what I seem to be missing, I approached Jack and saw the dialogue option to teach him the recipe for Hydra but it indicated I was short on my survival skill (60/75). So I backed out of the conversation with Jack and proceeded to take (1) Buffout (+3 to END resulting in a +6 to Survival) and read a copy of Lad's Life (+10 to Survival) putting me at a confirmed (just meaning I checked the skill page to be sure) 76 Survival. So I reapproached Jack and the option to teach him the recipe for Hydra was missing again... I thought maybe I had to be prepared before I spoke with him so I reloaded a prior save and approached him again, only to again be missing the option to teach him the recipe for Hydra...

Anyone else have the same issue? Did I miss something, and I NOT allowed to be "BUFF" when I teach him? --Ndmorespd 01:21, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

I had the same thing happen. I had 72/75 for my survival skill and used a lad's life for a temporary boost and the option disappeared from jack's dialogue. I went back to an earlier save, buffed up before the dialogue, after then going back in, before and after completing diane's deliveries with the same result. The option was there as long as I didn't buff the stat.--Xclockwatcher 07:49, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

I buffed before the dialogue like Xclockwatcher above, then taught him all the recipes. Hydra was there, and I did it first, then the rest one by one (nearly dying of thirst in the process on hardcore, due to the long game time each one takes to teach). When I was done, and Lad's Life expired, I went back to him again and the [science] check to teach him recipes was still there - and the only thing in that conversation tree was Hydra - again - only this time I didn't have the skill to do it. So I read another Lad's Life, then went back, and Hydra was gone as an option. I did all this before rescuing Anders, in case that makes a difference. Clearly there's a bug here, but for me the bug was having Hydra appear at all once I'd already taught it (and all the rest) to him. GryphonQ (talk) 19:17, May 25, 2013 (UTC)

Favourite character in Fallout: New Vegas Edit

Easily the most loveable character in all of Fallout: New Vegas. His easy going attitude, his chemical skills, even his unique beard! Is it possible not to love this bloke? - Anonymous 2

I dunno, I'd have to go with Jack's customer Fantastic.

The fading out and time lapse with Jack is most likely teaching him to make the chems, as it takes time to learn. I suspect that this was on purpose.

Unlimited Exp. Glitch Edit

I don't know if this is somehow a glitch on my game only but the glitch does still work for me after saving the runner for Diane, but i also don't have the option to teach him to make any chems so there may be a connection with them.(playing on Xbox360 with newest patch)8/11/2011

Jack won't trade Edit

I have no option to trade with him. I've tried every dialogue option with both him and Diane. Only thing I can think of is that it's because my rep with the Khans is 'mixed'. No mention of rep affecting this on his page. INF1DEL 07:45, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

Infinite Exp? Edit

Hey, I think that I might have found out a glitch where you can get infinite experience points by continually passing the speech the check option for the quest where you have to convince the Khans to not ally with Caesar. If I could get verification on this from someone else, I'd greatly appreciate before editing his bug page.-- 07:36, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

Resetinventory Edit

Only respawn ONE single item. bugger.Laclongquan (talk) 06:02, May 4, 2013 (UTC)

Positive KarmaEdit

Why does teaching him how to make more drugs result in good karma? Blackhawk767 (talk) 05:06, December 25, 2014 (UTC)
