Wehner shoots the Raider over and over[]

When Wehner did this I just shot the raider until he exploded (bloody mess perk) then her stopped.

Revision as of 03/28/09[]

I have revised the article and expanded it. Could someone who played the DLC by posing as a slave please look over the article? I just shot everything that moved, and murdered the guards at the gate.

Also, to all editors. Write in third person, please.

Quest Base ID[]

Could someone tell me the base ID for this quest? --203.206.169.28 06:25, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Follower's Must be Left Behind[]

I've read that you must fire your followers upon entering the Pitt. What happens if you have told them all to "wait" somewhere before entering the Pitt?

V.A.T.S. addict 21:44, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

If you tell your followers to wait they still go back to their orginal place apart from dogmeat who goes to vault 101. --Cheesytom 10:38, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Question: Where to store items ?[]

Before entering the gate wearing the slave-clothing and all items are taken from me, i want to store them in a secure place. Where is such a place, because i cannot go back into the wastelands to store them in my house? I am afraid I loose lincolns repeater and my chinese stealth suit. Or do I get all confiscated items back later?

You get 'em all back eventually. Lord Spoonfield III 13:32, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

no slave outfit[]

if you drop on the slave pen from above there is a chance there is none on the matress, as i let the pother slaves go i was forced to retart (--91.104.103.19 20:46, 11 August 2009 (UTC))

Tracked through the Wastes[]

I accidentally traveled to the radio tower on my new character, initiating the scene where the 3 raiders attack Wernher. He finished them all off while I ran off into the distance. Later, after waiting a few hours for the caravans at Megaton, he showed up and thanked me for the help. After reloading a previous save, I decided not to wait until I wanted to start the quest.

The Question: Will Wernher continue to follow you throughout the wasteland until he catches up to you? (Im on the xbox 360, so I cant check the scripting)

Magical Underwear?[]

Anyone else find it odd that when the player acquires the Slave Outfit (either from Prosper or the corpse) the appearance of in-game underwear causes its previous owner to end up wearing MORE clothes than they started with?--Skuldergate 21:39, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

Laser pistol[]

I was able to bring Col. Autumn's pistol into the pitt, and used it against the trogs since you can get energy cells from the factory protectrons in the mill. (Before Broken Steel).

Bug: Quest Not Showing Up Even Though the Radio Does[]

I think that instead of fifty, wouldn't ten be alot better, it sets it to the begining instead of the finding a slaver costume? BTW the bug I am talking about is the second bug for the Into the Pitt quest, where you need to type setstage xx00108c 50 in order for the quest to actually show up. I ended up changing the code to 10 on the wiki page, is this okay? ChaseDerick 03:04, December 21, 2009 (UTC)ChaseDerick

Four slave outfits and a small glitch[]

Added several notes to the article. You can easily steal the key from Ramsey if you have high stealth and you do this at night. Through reverse pickpocketing armor, you can also steal the slave pens from the two wandering slaves through the fence, thus making progress in the quest. After this you can still open the door and free the pitt slaves. The glitch is that you will interact with Prosper as if no progress had occurred.N00w 04:25, December 27, 2009 (UTC)

Do you get all your items back at some point if Mex takes them?[]

Well I was suprised that this page doesn't mention anything about whether the PC gets his inventory back at some point.Djdelirius 07:55, May 27, 2010 (UTC)

You get your inventory back at the end of Unsafe Working Conditions. Telos 06:16, May 27, 2010 (UTC)

Bypassing Mex?[]

Can anybody confirm the the trick to keep your gear by jumping and VATSing the guard on the catwalk? I can't get it to work on Xbox360. Even if I stack stuff right under him and jump from there (hitting my head on the underside of the catwalk - I couldn't possibly be any closer when I enter VATS) it still says I have 0% chance to hit so I can't even try to take a swing at him. I don't want to remove this part from the article until someone else confirms it can't be done. 69.143.68.134 01:50, July 4, 2010 (UTC)

"(Note: this does not seem to be possible on the 360 But barrels laying around the bridge can be stacked on the baby carriage to achieve the same effect)" I feel this needs removed unless there can be VIDEO confirmation, as myself as well as two other friends have not been able to do this without crashing the game due to some collision bug of some sort. --BannedHeresy (talk) 05:37, October 2, 2015 (UTC)

Easier way[]

I picked to have the switchblade in the beginning and I just slaughtered a couple raiders in th beginning. I now have raider armor and a lead pipe! Just a little hint. :P 76.92.250.246 22:19, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Bypassing Mex Does Not End Quest[]

On the XBOX 360 I just managed to do the 'exploit' twice getting off the catwalk without Mex and friends being hostile. But when I go through the door to Downtown, I only find the location and begin picking up the broadcast. The quest "Into the Pitt" does not complete and "Unsafe Working Conditions" does not initiate. Additionally, talking with Midea gets one response: "You should get back to work."

I'm not sure the 'exploit' works any longer and having your items confiscated now seems to be part of the conditions that complete the mission "Into the Pitt".

- JackFrost23 02:26, December 24, 2010 (UTC)

EDIT: Actually, I was too hasty - it turns out that you must pass a certain spot just forward and to the left after entering Downtown for the quest to complete and the new one to start. I managed to miss the spot completely on two separate trips in... :D

Best way to keep gear without dropping anything[]

After the escaping slave get blown to bits, grab one of their severed limbs (or head) and carry it to the gate. Set it down on the other side (the side with the slavers). Open up the slave's inventory and put your stuff in it. Cross the threshold and have your chat, then get your stuff.

define 'cross the threshold' Gschmechel25

Put your stuff in the dead body, push it across the gate (when it opens) drop it and have your chat, then go into the Pitt...

however they have fixed *all* of the exploits - all of your gear is removed as soon as you open the gate to the Pitt except the pistol and slave outfit. Once the quest ends, the gate is locked and you can not go through it again. P38fln 02:15, September 30, 2011 (UTC)

Items get confiscated no matter what steps are taken[]

None of these exploits appear to work on the PS3 GOTY version because there is a dual confiscation- first with Mex, second when you enter the gate to the downtown. Also once in downtown you can not leave or fast travel anywhere. Anybody else see this? 174.144.170.43 17:30, June 8, 2011 (UTC)Lexx

Also confirmed for Xbox 360 GOTY version. Indeed there are two instances of confiscation --BannedHeresy (talk) 05:47, October 2, 2015 (UTC)

Quest not appearing[]

Okay basically I have Fallout 3 GOTY Edition for my Xbox 360. I removed the patch for Fallout 3 by clearing system cache. Then my WiFi quit working so I couldn't update. Now I finally got the update back and Broken Steel loaded. Now here are my problems I have the radio signal from Werhner but no quest. Same thing with Operation: Anchorage, Mothership Zeta and Point Lookout. Although on Point Lookout I visted the riverboat and got the quest back. PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!

Mailbox inventory exploit no longer works (360)[]

It appears the mailbox inventory exploit no longer works on 360 (GOTY edition). One can fast travel to Downtown but there is no Bridge option.

Since the success and failure of the exploit has been described in this article multiple times by multiple users, what is the best course of action for updating the section? Knitlife 06:07, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

XBOX 360 TO ESCAPE THE PITT STEELYARD AND LEAVE THE GAME PLAY AREA.[]

Enter the steelyard. Climb the stairs at the far SW corner. Keep climbing until you are just below the large open cooling tower with the dead bodies and 1 Rad.You should be on the walkway corner facing north looking down onto a corrugated roof that overlooks the four domes. Jump down to the roof .Look west and see two pipes below crossing over the top of the 4 domes to a chain fence with a gap on the left hand side.Jump down to the RHS pipe and walk across.Jump up to the shallow roof and go though the LHS gap.You are now outside the play area. Continue going west. Jump off the roof high roof to the lower roof and walk North. Wall on there right, death drop on the left. At the end of the roof turn East and continue walking. At the end of the roof turn south and see a lower roof to the east that you can jump onto. Go north and enter a square sloping lattice and walk down to the flat surface below the base of the buildings. If you walk east you will come to the other rear side of the train tunnel. If you want to walk back into the game climb the sloping lattice 55 running paces to a dome top over looking the railway yard and above the highest pipes.Jump down pipe by pipe pipe until you land back in the train yard. If you want to explore out side the game area carry on walking North past tall skyscraper buildings until you come to an infinitely deep canyon river 1 rad. The banks are too high to get back out if you swim, but if you do, then swim south west, then south, then south east then east until you pass under a suspension bridge. This bridge is a partially finished copy of Pittsburg 10th Steet Brige and can be seen on your Pip Boy map crossing the river on the RHS of the map.Just past this bridge you can climb out on the RHS. Keep going east and pass between the invisible Pitt train yard and the Pitt Bridge coming eventually to the end of the river at the bottom left hand corner of the Map. You can from that point then fast travel back to the Pitt Steelyard.--1000HrsFallout3 (talk) 21:55, July 22, 2012 (UTC)
