Most sensitive to Energy Weapons? I find that Eugene can kill these wavy guys faster than the PGL can. Nitty 21:43, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Name[]

Name according to GECK is "Inertia Suppression Field". -- Porter21 (talk) 18:29, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Too bad[]

We can't make use of the shield.

That'd make a hell of a DR increase. MaseFace 16:10, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Actually we can I found out how, it's implemented through a "spell" rather then a perk or anything else simply do player.addspell xx00742E. Cerepol 16:48, 15 August 2009 (EST)
How'd you discover that? MaseFace 22:31, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm assuming simply by finding it in the GECK. --Macros 23:26, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
If its just a spell it wouldnt be that hard to add it to armor in the geck, would it?
How did you manage to implement it? I've tried but I can't get it to work. It says spell not found.

Dissolving shield?[]

Is it just me or did anyone else notice the shield on the aliens seem to lose strength when fired upon (I noted that the alien underneeth the shield becomes more visible after the shield took some damage, it appears to have 3 stages)? --Radnus 81.205.186.16 22:49, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

Base alien damage resistance in addition to Inertia[]

Has anybody noticed that aliens have a base damage resistance in addition to damage resistance granted by the inertia shields? Since base damage resistance is a derived statistic, it depends on the level of the alien object. Use "getbaseav damageresist" or "getavinfo damageresist" in the console on the pc to check their base resistance. It's 25% for level 20 aliens and 55% for level 30 aliens, which means level 30 aliens have an overall DR of 110 pts magnitude, that's why they are so hard to kill (I'd be surprised if anybody manages to kill them with less than 5 Alien blaster shots or less than 7 Gauss rifle shots on hardcore difficulty). BEWARE![]

For those of you who play on Very Hard mode and are at level 30 when you visit the Mothership; be aware that Aliens equipped with these shields range from tough to ridiculously tough! Bullets might as well be rubber bands, Frag Grenades are like cherry bombs, Nuka Grenades barely scratch them ,and all but the most powerful Lasers are little more than flashlights. If you want to survive against these beasts; bring only the most powerful weapons in your arsenal. Plasma weapons seem to be the most effective types of weaponry (specifically A3-21's Plasma Rifle and Plasma Grenades) along with other weapons with high critical multipliers or otherwise very high damage outputs (especially Vengeance) the Man Opener will ignore DR and will assist greatly in confined quarters. The Fat Man is excellent for destroying waves of aliens and is especially handy in The Hanger (which gets my vote for TOUGHEST FIREFIGHT IN FALLOUT 3!). --BattleBen 22:04, November 17, 2009 (UTC)

I actually got so fed up with this that I made a modification to their shields. Went into the GECK and switched it from adding 25 DR to removing 25 DR. It just didn't strike me as either realistic or fair that I could expend 750 rounds of .50BMG ammo out of a weapon that, according to the PipBoy, does 1500 damage, and not scratch them, all while they can reduce my health from 620 to 0 in 5 hits even with the T-51b! This gun shreds Albino Radscorpions and Vertibirds about as easily as a combat shotgun can dispatch a bloatfly. Post mod it only took four rounds from an AK47(160DMG in PipBoy) to take one down, much better. At least now I can kill them as easily as they could kill me. I can also now get sneak crit headshots with any two-handed rifle in the game almost(Even the weak-as-hell Vanilla Assault Rifle/CAR could do it if I got close enough). I'm playing on Very Hard, by the way, and entered at level 30. All stats/skills maxed, even the ones I don't use. TestECull 16:47, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

I always wondered why some people insist to play on very hard when they are not able to manage the difficulty. On very hard they are difficult,it is normal but they are far form "ridiculously tough". And at level 30 the PC is ridiculously tough, too. The problem here is the player...Croquignol 19:41, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

Image of doughy globs...[]

I kinda want to see the doughy globs. They'll look so... COOL! :DCheezeWEEPツ 03:03, February 1, 2010 (UTC)

Just a thought[]

I'm a console gamer currently, as I'm still building my Gaming tower. But if there are any modders on the site, I have an idea for you. If this is a spell, you can add it to any clothing. So why not add it to the Space suit? It could come with a small note saying how the aliens experimented on it and whatnot. It would make wearing the suit worth it, giving it 26 DR instead of 1.Kale Nekona 02:52, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

Insta-kill[]

You can kill them instantly by reverse-pickpocketing an explosive onto them. Insta-kill, regardless of levels or explosive skill.

Disappearing Shield[]

Shields seem to be down for about 2 seconds when quickloading, making them vulnerable to damage. --101.175.201.168 11:38, December 19, 2013 (UTC)
