Hey guys, do you know if you can live here? prehaps in the turret of that GIGANTIC GUN!! --GreaseBall 19:51, October 2, 2010 (UTC)

So who's under the misconception that Helios 1 produces more electricity than the dam? If that were true, which it's not and is firmly stated when you visit Helios 1, then the factions wouldn't be vying for control of the damn dam, they'd be battling it out for the solar station!! - The Capulet 06:07, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

Quartermaster Bardon[]

You can trade with Bardon, he is listed as a merchant and you can trade for ammo that he has for sale but you must do a speech check first. I did it yesterday and I don't know why someone changed it to that you can't trade with him, the speech check convinces him that you are good enough to trade with him by your status in the NCR. -a_guy 10/26/10

- I had no problem trading with him without the check after I spoke to the Colonel there after being sent by the NCR Ambassador in the strip. I did have a problem with ED-E constantly attacking and killing him (with no faction loss). - Deelron 10/28/10

Where is this NPC anyway? Can't find him anywhere.--Mr.Lexx(talk) 18:49, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

Questions[]

Hey guys, do you know if you can live here? prehaps in the turret of that GIGANTIC GUN!! --GreaseBall 19:51, October 2, 2010 (UTC)

Any quests involving this massive landmark? Attacking it? Defending it? Something? Anything!

I don't know yet as I haven't gone far into the game, although there is a great chance that you have to either attack or defend it depending on the chosen side( the faction you support).--Artemis128 17:53, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

When I fought at the Hoover Dam, the cannon on the dam exploded almost immediately. I assume the legion bombed it or something. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?--Fakerton 23:53, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Location[]

Please, someone put an image of the map location, having difficult to find it --Marcelolzao97 20:31, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

Uh.. it's the big, obvious dam on the map...--Mr.Lexx(talk) 18:50, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

Keys...[]

I got myself a safehouse key, but of the three locked doors I've found... my key opens none of them! where do I get the other keys? Namad 07:22, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

→same. I'm wondering wtf olivers compound is - its at the end of power plant four.68.118.40.134 00:36, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Van Buren info[]

Can we throw that paragraph away? It's pretty obvious it's not canon. If it were you'd at least see evidence of a town built on/around the dam. TestECull

Quartermaster Bardon armor condition exploit[]

I just happened to buy some badly worn armor from him and upon exiting the shopping dialog all that armor was in pristine condition on my inventory, so I couldn't help immediately getting back to him and selling some of that for a very considerable and effortless profit before realizing it is indeed a funny exploit. So there's this bug and I can add it to this page unless it is reported elsewhere as a more generic failure not limited to Bardon. Not sure if it applies to weapons as well, but may test it soon. Any thoughts?

It is a common merchant bug that works with weapons too.

Texture Mistake? (Missing turbines N5/N6)[]

Did anyone else notice that the turbines (I think they're turbines, I don't know anything about power plants) in Power Plant 03 say "N3" and "N4" on them, respectively? Like I said, I don't know anything about power plants, but judging from the turbines(?) in Power Plants 01, 02, and 04, I think the ones in 03 are supposed to say "N5" and "N6." Am I wrong? Science-Doer 01:53, December 13, 2010 (UTC)

I noticed that today as well, I got confused navigating through the building because of this, untill I found out that N3 and N4 appear twice, while N5 and N6 are missing. When passing through the lower level however, I saw the numbers there were correct. Considering how minor the details are, I think its simply a mistake. (June 9, 2013)

Possible cut quest?[]

Talking to Mike Lawson in Power Plant 01 reveals that not all of the turbines are spinning and he has intended to send someone to repair them. When heading down to the lower levels it appears that one turbine is set up to be worked on with some machinery and a generator next to it.

Freezing[]

Does anyone know how to keep the game from freezing every 5 seconds when your at the final battle

Couple Things[]

Is there any way to get into Oliver's Compound on Arizona Killer? It's cool if there isn't.

I did get something cool, if you go P4 and go down you eventually come to a place where water comes rushing in. If you attempt to walk through it, your character get's pushed down. It's kind of neat.

Timeline error[]

It says that the NCR did not discover Hoover Dam until 2281. How can this be if the first batle of Hoover Dam was fought in 2277? Did the NCR just kill all the legion and then 4 years later suddenly say;

"Wait a minute! How did the Legion get across the river? Wood wouldn't hold it and that's what they'd use. Gee, maybe we should actually see how they got across." *sees Hoover Dam* "Golly! That must be how the Legion crossed!" *sees Fortification Hill and gasps* "Gee willikers! Why haven't they tried again?"

Gee fuckin' whiz, I guess the NCR just took over the Dam without even knowing it even existed. If this page is right, then only the retarded soldiers get sent to the Colorado river. No wonder Col. Moore has a stick up her ass. --TJbrena 16:35, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

The NCR were given hoover dam in 2277 by House in exchange for 5% of the electricity. then Caesars legion *tried* to take over hoover dam and failed. They got across the river on rafts and camp Forlorn Hope was supposed to combat the parties coming over the river and failed. It says all this in the game... try paying attention to it. Standard on order of Inhabitants?[]

Is there a Vault standard on how names should be ordered in Inhabitants sections? The section on this page needs cleaning up for ordering, but I'm not sure how to do it. Alphabetically by last name? Where do generic types fit in? (Sorry, forgot to sign) PapaCharlie9 20:48, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

There is no layout standard for inhabitants The Vault:Article layout guideline/Location article. Normally I only list down named inhabitants and then order them leader, merchant, doctor and then alphabetically for all other named inhabitants. If unnamed inhabitants already exist in the page, I then add them last, again alphabetically. ☣Avatar☣ 19:55, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Legion go Home[]

Are we sure that "LEGION GO HOME" is based on "Ami go home" and not another reference to Life of Brian's "Romanes eunt domus/Romans go home?" There is no citation listed and a google search of "Ami go home" brings up mostly webpages in German and Eastern European languages.

Ncr won the first battle? im not sure about that[]

On the wiki and in game, its obvious that the west side of the dam is controlled by NCR and the east by the legion. So if neither of them really have control of the dam, did the NCR really win the battle? it looks more like a stalemate. The NCR claims they held the dam, and say that its in thier hands. the legion never mentions that they still have half of the dam. can anyone explain this? Halflifeisbetterthanhalo 04:00, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

The NCR Holds the entire Hover Dam. However the entire dam is not accessible until the final battle at which point the Legion has taken over half the damn.--72.129.151.117 18:00, August 11, 2011 (UTC)

Notable Loot[]

I was wondering why I am the only one who consider's the NCR engineer jumpsuit in the closet as notable loot, seeing as it is one of the few outfit's to increase Repair Skill... Spellunker

And it's the lightest ncr disguise, too. A worthy consideration when you have terrible relation with them.Laclongquan (talk) 15:30, April 28, 2013 (UTC)

Fast Travel Icon Bug?[]

I seem to be having trouble getting the icon for Hoover Dam to appear on my map. I swear I've walked up and down that thing twice, but it still doesn't register as a found location. (I'm playing the 360 Ultimate Edition, btw, since I know some glitches are platform specific.) Son Goharotto 20:26, June 13, 2012 (UTC)

Exact same problem on all three of my last games, i'm playing on just a normal NV disc and have all the add-ons. It's a whore when you are doing for the republic part 2. 10:13, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

Possible fix - Go into hoover dam via the main entrance, go up the stairs which are behind the welcome desk. Then go through the exit door which leads to the balcony/ area where president gives speech. It popped up for me, not sure if it is a console/game thing but i am using and xbox 360 elite and original game. Al bukhari (talk) 19:31, August 27, 2012 (UTC)

I had to use no-clipping and go to the base of the dam.

Door inaccessible during battle of hoover dam[]

The door at the checkpoint that is usually inaccessible before the battle is still inaccessible and I cannot proceed with the battle.

Lemmings[]

So, after aimlessly wandering around Boulder City for a while, I found a path that led to a nice view of Hoover Dam (albeit through a chain-link fence). I also found a profoundly odd bug. At a certain point on a cliff directly north-east of where I was standing, I noticed that an NPC (possibly an NCR soldier, given the location - I couldn't get a good enough look at the suicidal ding-dong) spawned right out of the cliff and fell to his death far below. This wouldn't be so odd in a Bethesda game, had it not repeated over and over and over. I watched about fifteen dudes materialise out of thin air and fall out of sight before realising that this wasn't going to stop. It keeps repeating in every save I have. Has anyone else seen this happen? - Erik the Mad (talk) 07:41, July 30, 2015 (UTC)
