Quest Issues

Can someone elaborate as to what this means? "Players are advised to attempt the speech check if they can, because doing so would net additional quest reward." Crapgame 00:46, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

The Speech check may unnecessary in some circumstances to get the weapons and goodies as the quest reward for this. If you got to Dr. Li and asked about your father before you got to Three Dog, you will not have any conversation topics with Three Dog related to finding your father. In fact, the GNR quest marker disappears as soon as you talk to Dr. Li. But Three Dog still has his quest and offering you the goodies is the only reward available at that point; no Speech check required. Note that with the GNR quest marker gone, you've got to find your way to GNR Plaza on your own, Lyons and crew will not be there to help you fight through the Super Mutants and you will probably get to deal with the Behemoth on your own. Things to avoid doing

Ive noticed a lot of things not to do in this quest,here are the most dangerous ones.

1.Do NOT leave a companion outside(or sometimes inside) the GNR station,they have a habit of spawning vicious monster attacks,i,at one time,left charon infront of GNR and he ended up spawning a family of death claws (two big's,three smalls) and they massacred the entire station,and three dog walked outside and become food,and when i returned,it was like The goriest scenes of the SAW series

2.Do not use console commands to open the weapons cache door*on pc version* and talk to docotor li when attempting this quest,when returning to three dog 90% of the time he just blanks you,and 10% of the time the game freezes

Installing the dish with a high science skill?

I noticed there was an option to "boost the signal" with science, I tried this but had a very low science, so I just did the normal install of the dish. Anyone ever notice this or what it does?

This is mentioned in the Prima guide but does not appear to actually be in the game.

Comm dish bug is in 1.5

I just patched the game last night (to 1.5 I think it is, whatever is the newest update is) and after numerous computer resets and loading earlier saves the dish still won't work.

Back Door Bug

I did not leave GNR through the back door as instructed by Three Dog. I went right back out the front door that I had come in after fighting the behemoth. I completed the quest and after replacing the dish, I was able to get in the front door with no problems. This was on XBOX 360.
