Where is the info regarding name and manufacturer coming from? Looking similar to a real-life WW2 plane doesn't mean the name and manufacturer is the same. -- Porter21 (talk) 11:42, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
I agree, but this is not a WWII plane, and Lockreed was not its manufacturer in real life. Lockreed is obviously a pun of the Lockheed plane company. If it's ok, I would suggest renaming this article to "unamed pre-war fighter jet", or something of that nature, and writing a detailed description of it's appearence, since no other canon information is available. One of the "Museum of Technology" terminals mentions that the fighter jet exhibit has been sponsored by the "Lockreed" company, but there's no mention whether or not the plane is an actual P-80. --GaussRifle 23:26, November 17, 2010 (UTC)
Nah. If it was a p-80, Bethesda could get sued or something. -User:1337 Merc
Well, it may be a T-33 Shooting Star traning version. We can assume (although unlikely) that the Fallout universe, these machines, constantly upgraded, were in production to 2070's, - The Forgotten Dragon, 6 september 2011, 20:37
It is an old F-80 Shooting Star fighter. It matches visually right down to the 6 .50 cal machine guns in the nose. I assume that they never really need to name it in game, so they can't really get sued for using it. Besides...I heard all the guys in the legal department over at Lockreed became feral ghouls.
Agreed, very clearly a F80 shooting star or atleast influenced by it. Really needs to be added to the page, we already have a p51 mustang in game with its own page
Main fighter of US air force?[]
The article says that the aircraft - fighter. But is it so? This is a rather primitive subsonic aircraft with straight wings. Judging from the front of his fuselage, the aircraft has only cannons and equipped with radar.
Even in a fuel crisis, this "return back" looks very doubtful.
Would not it be logical to assume that the aircraft was named "fighter" in error and is actually a training/light attack aircraft? Thundertech (talk) 12:25, July 5, 2012 (UTC)
- Well we follow in-game naming regardless of what it "appears" to be on-screen. And also, this is a major reason why we do not allow speculation - the Fallout universe is set in an alternate universe, so after WWII, society, technology, and ideas are not necessarily the same as they are in real-life. Hence your analysis of the jet may not reach a conclusion since there may be new, small or hidden technologies in this Fallout universe jet that qualify it as a fighter. Or the definition of a fighter jet may be different too. For example, the jet could indeed be ultrasonic in this universe due to different technological advancements.
- Furthermore, another reason why we don't allow speculation - the game is restrictive; we do not see every detail that makes something what the developers define it as. For example, there may have been more weaponry on the jet but fell off during the crash, or there could've been additional features inside the jet that would qualify it as such. --Skire (talk) 13:13, July 5, 2012 (UTC)
Speculation in the "Talk" is also banned? Well, I am sure - it all starts to look just ridiculous!
Fonzeppelin (talk) 14:37, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
The talk page is to discuss improvements, not the item in general. As such, speculation shouldn't be an issue as it shouldn't be here anyway. Agent c (talk) 15:44, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
M-da-a-a. And this is the only thing that i could say about that.
