This talk page is only for discussing improvements to the page "Fallout 3 unique weapons."

Already in a Page?Edit

Isn't this already in the Fallout 3 weapons page?
The unique weapons are the ones in parenthesis.
DarkJeff 21:07, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Well, since I had a lot of free time... there you go.
DarkJeff 21:37, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
A unique bat named Excalibat ( code C80BC ) have been found on a Raider's corpse in a random encounter. It is yet unknown if this unique version is to be found somewhere in game, as unique weapons sometimes spawns in high level random encounter like the Victory Rifle. As I have no idea if it exists for good somewhere in game, I didn't create a specific page for it. Excalibat is DAM 19 WG 3 VAL 75, normal baseball bat is DAM 15 WG 3 VAL 55 for me.
Orme 21:58, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
No, the Excalibat will never be found in the game (only in the game files). Ever. Unless it's hexed or modded into it. Nukey (talk) 08:10, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Plasma pistol Edit

Why aint there a plasma pistol??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Because the devs didn't make one. Why didn't they make one? Only they know. Please sign your posts on talk pages or forums with four tildes (~~~~). --Sentinel 101 18:11, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

there is, please divert your attention to the awesome MPLX novasurge

Add-on update Edit

Page needs to be updated with unique weapons from add-ons, i.e.:

-- Porter21 (talk) 07:54, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Should DLC items be incorporated or separate? SuSpence95 (Talk) 07:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Incorporated. Also just noticed that I forgot the Samurai's Sword, added it to the list. -- Porter21 (talk) 08:38, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Don't forget the Toy Knife! Icko 09:48, 11 August 2009 (UTC) Paulson's Revolver should be added too. Icko 09:56, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Ok so we need:

Is that all? SuSpence95 (Talk) 09:59, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Think so. -- Porter21 (talk) 10:10, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I think we're done. I don't know how you do it Porter ALL the time. I would go crazy with all that organizing and templates. SuSpence95 (Talk) 10:22, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Somebody has to :) -- Porter21 (talk) 10:23, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
I guess so... SuSpence95 (Talk) 10:24, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

An idea: a cross next to Stabhappy and Sydney's SMG meaning that you can obtain more than one :) Icko 10:47, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Also on the subject of further formatting, in accordance with all other weapons pages, the unique weapons from Add-on's should probably be in italics. As of right now, it is somewhat confusing initially to find no visual distinction between DLC weapons and those contained in the original game (apart from the small note in the far right column). While other option would be to relocate add-on weapons to seperate sections pertinent to each particular add-on, it does make sense to classify by weapon type. Therefore, this user feels it necessary to make all add-on weapon names in italics so one can quickly distinguish them from the originals. Also it might make things smoother to relocate the note about what add-on these weapons came from closer to the weapon name, thus saving the users from looking back and forth from the far left of the page to the far right simply to determine if they have the weapon or not. Cut weapons Edit

Should we inclued cut weapons like Wanda and Clovers cleaverRbroker 19:42, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Rbroker

stealthy = no good with melee Edit

Why the heck are all the actually good melee's only on add-ons like jangwei's shocksword and the mauler why are none in game? they all SUCK! - Bio Enhancment 411 17:02, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Well there are both Fawke's Super Sledge and the Shiskebab so you don't really have to have the add-ons to get good mellee weapons although you are somewhat right.

The location of the weapon should be included too Edit

The unique weapons are usually found in a specific location, and though it is included in their seperate page, I think it would be appropriate to include the weapons location along with its other attributes, or if it is a random encounter or found on a follower, it should be stated.Superinsomniac 00:03, October 18, 2009 (UTC)

Agreed. I've been waiting for someone to compile this list for the sole purpose of having a list of locations in order to find all the unique weapons in the game. Frankly, there isn't really a point to this page existing without it, as a user looking strictly for info about the stats of these weapons could just as easily consult the existing Fallout 3 Weapons page, with the added incentive that it isn't just limited to unique weapons. Does anyone here have the time to add this to the list, which is found simply by consulting each weapon's page? (I am not familiar with editing tables). Jellyb0nes 01:15, August 13, 2010 (UTC)
Done, with my limited knowledge of wiki editing. If anyone wants to fix anything, feel free. 15:49, February 8, 2012 (UTC)

Comparisons Edit

Would it be possible to have, in the infobox, comparison stats to the 'vanilla' versions?

Stabhappy (combat knife)

dmg/attack 10 (7)

DPS 30 (21)

or some similar mechanic, so that it is easy to tell how much better each weapon is in comparison.

Questions. Edit

I have some questions about making these types of tables and putting info in it. Basically I wanna know how you made the table and then how did you put the info in. I'm new so I am still learning my way around the wikia and how to make effective articles. If you could give me some more tips and walkthroughs of how to make a good article, I would appreciate it a lot.

Operation anchorage - Missed weapons Edit

I found some weapons in the armoury in the Operation Anchorage Add - on. They are in a crate labelled hermetically sealed weapons container. There are a couple of Chinese dragoon guns and a few steel alloy guns there a well. I don't know if these are unique or not. Cheers

I remember this thing, you're running a mod somewhere. There is no hermetically sealed container. All of the Chinese Dragoon weapons and all of the Alloy Steel guns are part of the add-on, but were unused, except for the combat shotgun, which is mod created. Ah... so i didn't miss them on my first few rounds.... cheers

Deletion Proposal Edit

I'm fairly green here, but I think this page is worthwhile on its own merits. While it is true that most of the information contained on this page is also on the main weapons page, this page is much more convenient for the many people who like to collect all the unique weapons. In addition, the location information for all the unique weapons is not included on the main weapons page, like it is here, which is much more efficient than having to click through to every single weapons page. Trythisonyourpiano (talk) 04:43, August 5, 2012 (UTC)

The only merit I see in keeping this page is that it contains the location information. I started to clean it up, since tons of the stats were wrong, but I have no problem with its deletion unless, as the user above states, having all the location information is one place is enough to merit keeping it. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 05:21, August 5, 2012 (UTC)
While this page does have the extra 'location' parameter, all the information presented is so vague that readers will have to visit the actual weapon page anyways for the specifics. This makes it no different than the general weapons page since readers will have to look for the unique weapon's location on their respective pages to learn their location in detail. Thus, this page is still redundant. --Kastera (talk) 05:28, August 5, 2012 (UTC)
I fully agree with Kastera and I support its deletion. --Skire (talk) 01:28, August 6, 2012 (UTC)

Is there a unique weapons category that could take its place instead? Agent c (talk) 01:37, August 6, 2012 (UTC)

There's this, and then in turn, it's New Vegas counterpart. --Sign243Talk 01:42, August 6, 2012 (UTC)
Both categories have been there for awhile and is not quite relevant when considering this page's deletion. So unless there's opposition to this, I will delete the page in due time. --Skire (talk) 01:46, August 6, 2012 (UTC)

( I don't know. I like the locations of the unique weapons listed in the last column. Those cannot be found on the Fallout 3 weapons page. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:00, August 6, 2012 (UTC)

The way I see it, if the locations are the only real reason for the page to stay, the locations need to be more descriptive, since as Kas said, they only give rudimentary information. Either way, if it stays, I'll continue to improve the page so the pertinent information is both correct (which it is not right now) and germane. Just let me know what y'all do. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 02:13, August 6, 2012 (UTC)
It's true that the only merit this page holds is the locations, but since the descriptions are generally so vague, readers will have to visit the respective page anyway to learn more. Even if we did go into more detail in the locations parameter, the result would be very unattractive tables with one tall column of cramped and hard-to-read text and many other tall columns containing (at max) three numbers surrounded by a whole lot of unnecessary blank space (see Fallout 3 weapons @Miss Launcher). --Kastera (talk) 02:29, August 6, 2012 (UTC)
Well, one possibility is to scrap the table then. Go to a list format and only give the locations, since that's what most people who would use the page are probably looking for (like the above anon said). If they want stats, you can easily get them on the overview page where all the uniques are clearly highlighted. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 02:59, August 6, 2012 (UTC)
I would be alright with that, but we'd also have to make a Fallout: New Vegas unique weapons page too (you know how I am about conformity). Alternatively, we could keep the tables for organization's sake and only have the weapon's name, its non-unique variant and its location (in detail, of course). We could use:
! style="width: 15%;"| Weapon
! style="width: 15%;"| Variant
! style="width: 70%;"| Location
or something like that. --Kastera (talk)

(I'll work up a new version of the page in a sandbox and let folks take a look and see if it's an improvement. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 21:06, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Revamped version Edit

I've finished the first draft of a revamped version of this page. I removed all of the statistics (which can be easily found elsewhere) and instead given greater room to a more complete description of the location where the weapon can be found/obtained. You may find the draft in [[User:The Gunny/sandbox3]]. I'd like some input on whether this version is a more useful page. If so, then I'll finish the draft (just gotta check a few more links, there were a ton of redirects) and we can replace the current page with the new. If not, then I reckon we'll need to decide if the current page gets deleted. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 21:20, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

I like it a lot better than the current page (but you probably already knew that). I'd suggest nixing the "Unique" part in the headings (seems redundant as it's the unique weapon page), capping the "Variants of" (for aesthetics sake) and instead of putting the DLC icons in the locations, put them after the weapons (like on the main weapons page). --Kastera (talk) 00:08, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
OK. The new version of the page is up. I've removed the nominated for deletion tag, so if folks still don't think this is worthy info, now's your chance to have your say. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 15:51, August 12, 2012 (UTC)
