Scrap Metal GlitchEdit

Who wrote that section? It was loaded with grammar mistakes and run- ons. Spence 07:13, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Can this be done on the 360? Casdin just turns hostile and doesn't take the scrap metal back.

I can confirm that this works for the 360. I did this after I have turned in enough tech to gain access to the fort, using a total of 10 pieces of scrap metal to begin with. Initially, I tried using 4 pieces only and failed. 23:29, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Have anyone succeeded in doing the scrap metal glitch with something else? such as alien power cells (i tried but he didnt take em back)

It's impossible to get infinite Alien Power Cells, as far as I can tell (I have tried several times.)--GrammarFailure 22:36, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

I have succeeded with power armour.Tony hk 47 04:46, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

On my 2nd try on this glitch this he keeps attacking me on the last step, ive tested getting maxed positive karma,100 speech and 10 charisma, he still attacks me, but he never attacked on my first try when i was lvl 20, anyone got any ideas what you need to improve on? made a new character (good karma) and he didnt have any problem (lvl 2) to do the glitch, i read on a forum that if u have killed an outcast u cant do this glitch anymore, i cant remember ever killing one but perhaps one died in a fight against a npc and that counted, who knows...

Why is the top level section edit-locked? I am specifically looking to perform this glitch, and would like to improve the section's readability to aid my attempt. All I can see right now is a wall of text with an inconveniently placed screenshot and a few bullets. Blank spaces and highlighting mechanisms improve readability. Pinkynperky04 02:46, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

(in reply to GrammerFailure)I posted a glitch that makes it ALOT easier to duplicate ammo like the alien power cell. Its the one that requires a mesmotron. It should work for both the 360 and the ps3. Snakefrog0725 22:08, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

Sincerely The Human Fallout 3/New Vegas Wiki Knowlegdeable but incomplete. Duplicating unique weapons such as the Fire Lance is possible, when two opposing factions like raiders and outcasts both attempt to pick up the weapon at the same time. Its more luck than skill.

Negative amount Edit

Game allows have negative amount of anything in your inventory. You can't use this items directly (for example, negative count of ammo, stimpacks or armor), but they are usable in world interactions: where NPC (quest items, workbench using, ...) take this items. Note, these items have no weight.

So, using same method such as "scrap methal exploit", you can make infinite bottlemine, nuka grenads and other and other.

When you do modification of amount, Game thinks, that you have NO items. for example: you have 3 tin cans. you "remove" 40. now you have -37. if after it you "remove" another 40, you'll have -40 tin cans in your inventory. If you add 1 tin can (take from world, for example), you'll have 1 (positive) tin can in your inventory.

SCRAP metal glitch on 360 Edit

WARNING: if you do succeed in obtaining the invisible amount of scrap metal by doing the Casdin/Pickpocketing glitch , afterwards if you loot ANY real scrap metal in the world (ie. metal boxes, toolboxes) then it will negate the invisible amount, causing you to do the whole Casdin pickpocket thing over....

Doesn't work on PC ver 1.7? Edit

I tried the glitch with 58 scrap metal. I gave him 58, stole them back. Gave him 56, stole them (not caught), tried to steal his laser pistol -> caught. But the game doesn't remove any scrap metal when I get caught - neither 56 nor 58. Do I need to have "stolen" scrap metal in the first place? IIRC, all metal I have so far was not stolen but free to take. --Lje 21:06, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

it WORK on PC ver 1.7. (I don't use unofficial patches) Kelebmel 13:36, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

How much charisma does your character have? My current problem is, that Casdin attacks me instead of taking back the stolen scrap metal. I run a char with only 1 point in charisma. I've already befriended the outcasts (which is achieved automatically when trying the glitch with more than 50 metal). --Lje 16:34, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Scrap Metal on PS3 Edit

Does this glitch work on PS3? It won't work for me. Is it because I also stole the SM I had already given him?

I can confirm that it does work on the PS3. My brother did it fine with 18 scrap metal, 1 Charisma, neutral karma, and was at level 20. When I do it, Casdin always go hostile. Maybe your level affects something.

It worked fine for me using a stealth boy, having very evil karma, and at level 6. Remember, if you killed ANY outcast (including the rebellious outcasts at the outcast outpost in operation anchorage) this glitch will not work

I've killed a few outcasts by accident. I attacked a robot once accidently and they tried to kill me, so I killed them and I accidently shot one from anchorage and then killed 2 because they also shot at me. Will this still work? Good karma 5CHR?

new infinite xp exploit Edit

In the museum of history, theres a terminal (avg) that unlocks a cell door (avg). hacking the terminal brings up the option "secure exhibit," which locks the door. you can pick the lock, lock the door, and repeat for infinite xp. 21:49, October 23, 2009 (UTC)

Multiple followers inquiry Edit

So, I have Charon and Dogmeat as followers, but I would really like to have Clover as well. The problem is, I'm hostile with everyone in Paradise Falls. I've tried creating clones, stopcombat, enable/disable, but nothing works. Is it possible to make an entire town un-hostile?

cloning followersEdit

is there any point to this I mean I could see if it was do-able on the xbox a console command only for the PC and maybe hex editing the xbox. Lancer AR 00:30, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

effect equipment stacking for temporary followers ? Edit

if you use the equipment stacking exploit, does it affect temporary followers like sticky, shorty, and red ?

Which, if any, of these exploits are still there on patch 1.7?

removed Edit

Knock Knock of Little Lamplight has an easy Speech challenge that does not get cleared. Can repeat for infinite experience.

doesn't work IIf you check you expirence count on pip-boy you will find it doesnt increase while doing this over and over again.JASPER42 12:05, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

An easy way to get unlimited ears is to kill littlehorn over and over again.(It can be time consuming if you use a weak weapon) 21:20, July 15, 2010 (UTC)

Sergeant RL-3 Glitch Edit

On the PS3 GOTY Version it dosen't work,..I tried 30 times, and it does not work with ANY Follower. I have Sargent RL-3 And I want to get Butch then go get Dogmeat,.. Any advice?

You must not be following the instructions properly; it's not patched. I just tested this three times with two different followers (Butch and Cross) on the PS3 GOTY Fallout 3 and it worked all three times. CaptFrost 00:02, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

Should we temp. close down the exploits section Edit

You know that bethesda is going to be looking for previous glitches in the old fallout 3 so they don't make the same mistake twice. If they find this (which they may have already) then we may not have any good exploits left in the new vega game. It would suck If we couldn't do the clone followers glitch for those who have the PS3 and the Xbox360. They probably know about some of them. If they do know some of them they may not have had the time to jot down how to do it. If they don't know how to do it it will be a little harder for them to figure out what the root problem was. most of them are on youtube though but this site would be a hotspot for exploits. So should we temorarly clear the exploits section intill fallout: new vega comes out? Say something! 21:55, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

So you propose hiding information so as to reduce the quality of Fallout: New Vegas?
  1. That's stupid, plain and simple.
  2. It's a little late for that anyway.
  3. It's Obsidian, not Bethesda, that's making the game.
  4. Your mother was a hamster
    • Your father smelled of elderberries.
  5. I prefer a high-quality game.
  6. They probably already know all the glitches anyway, without us listing 'em.

--Kris User Hola 22:01, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

lol, elderberries? Yeah they probably do know all the glitches.

No but I just want to see what others think about it. I can tell you like high quality games and so do I, but some of the glitches are amusing and fun. Now I hope you know I was only refering to the "Exploits section" and not the glitch section. Exploits are glitches that can be used to your advantage and (possibly) not harm you game. Nice quote BTW.

Well it's too late in any case, the bugfixing that they were able to do before release is done, the game is out for printing/packaging. But I daresay there'll be all new glitches to find and exploit in New Vegas.

Bottlecaps and Free Repair glitch(PS3) Edit

I used this glitch and finally got it to work with ease but

stuff started disappearing out of my inventory and then the game glitched and I could only see Black and every once and a while if I looked there would a be a quick flash of a rainbow shiny thing Any ideas? As in maybe I should'nt do it anymore Has this happened to anyone else?

Console =/= Exploit? Edit

For the duplicating mines section, it tells you to use the console to enter tgm. Presumably, this page is for exploits that don't use the console, as there is a whole page for that. If you want to use console, it's much more efficient to use player.additem 433c # (for frags, etc). I'd remove it, but I want at least one agreement before I do. --LordDragonfang 16:41, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

Exploits are things that the developers didn't intend for players to be able to take advantage of but are present in the game. The console was made available intentionally to players for them to take advantage of it. UserGreatMara9mm Pistol 16:59, August 1, 2011 (UTC)
That's what I thought. Removed, then. --LordDragonfang 01:23, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

Shouldn't the missile launcher mine/grenadier glitch be in here? Edit

See the bottom note:

Body containers section Edit

Instead of dragging an entire body around full of loot, it's easier to take a disembodied head. The game still sees a raider's head as a raider, and is a lot easier to carry. Not sure if it's worth adding to the page, so I'm mentioning it here first.

Organization change, and how it relates to Protector CasdinEdit

First, I think there should be a Repairs section and a caps section. All repair-related and caps-related exploits could then be placed as subsections of their respective sections.

Next, the Protector Casdin section seems to not have any focus whatsoever, being a random collection of (sometimes overlapping/repeating) facts about Protector Casdin. I believe the section was made to try to explain how to get free full repairs or free money, but in either case those should go elsewhere (hopefully in the appropriate sections I proposed above).

If someone with an account would like to clean that up, that'd be nice for those of us who like a clear focus and organization in what we read.

xbox 360.PS3? How to scale the vertical high walls around MEGATON and jump into the partly finished interior seen though gaps in the wall - using an in game exploit. Edit

High walls, no way up and over the fence to see what's inside. Easy? No! Possible Yes! Spent years looking at those high walls for a break in plan. Finally using the FAT MAN expoit, scaling walls as high at Tacoma Park were possible but those walls of rubble sloped. These are vertical. Looking up from the outside the only thing that would scale the walls would be a long, sloping plank to jump on, walk up, and then jump off the top, and into the partly constructed Megaton. The only plank long enough is in the car park at the Super-Duper Mart. Armed with FAT MAN ,use the in-game exploit ,break the City Liner from it's computer anchorage and push the long, heavy, lump, up the hill, R/o Mart, through the trees, over the rocks until arriving some hour later at Megaton. At the NE corner there is a rocky outcrop and a tree and this is the only part of the wall where the rear of the Liner can be jammed to stop it sliding back down .This leaves the back LINER steps sloping to far to the rear to climb. Get a barrel from SPRINGVALE wedge it against the rock the rear of the LINER it's posssible to climb the rear. Once at the top of the 60 degree sloping Liner the fence can be jumped. Inside the Wanders house is not yet builtand the bomb is a bare diamond shape hanging above the crater. Walking to the exit the gate does no return you to the outside you just jumped from but enters you eleswhere--1000HrsFallout3 (talk) 08:31, August 25, 2012 (UTC).

It's easier just to drop thousands of single round 5mm ammo boxes near the wall, and walk up the pile and jump over the barrier. It would likely take even less time to do. -- 00:02, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
Patience required. The fiddly bit is jammning the rear of the Liner against the base of the rocks to stop it slipping back. I suppose you threw the Liner over the fence a few times before getting it right. The roof of the Super Duper mart is easier.  :-) --1000HrsFallout3 (talk) 07:53, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

Cryo Grenade/Mine Exploit Fix Edit

I've recently found a useful glitch of the Cryo Grenade/Mine Exploit. If the first time you succeeded in getting a couple of the cryo weapons but Elliot said he hasn't made any rendering the glitch broken then this glitch will enable you to retrieve more of these grenades and mines. This glitch sometimes might work sometimes it won't. Save first then wait 3 hours in-game, ask him for cryo weapons and he'll give them to you. Then throw one cryo grenade at him and when he's frozen wait 3 hours. After he gets up ask him if he made any cryo weapons and you'll get the message that they've been added to your inventory. After the two messages disappeared ask him again for cryo weapons. If your planning on getting more cryo weapons then you have to wait until both messages have disappeared every time. --LoneWanderer559 (talk) 03:48, August 28, 2012 (UTC)

All companions without having to hire dogmeat or rl3 Edit

I've managed to get all companions without either rl3 or dogmeat exploits I'm not sure what exactly caused it but just before i went to do the finak mission at the pirifier in the base game I went and spoke to pleading cross for the first time she agreed to join my party even though I had butcher with me just by saying "I dint suppose I could stop you" when she asked me a question after that I traveled to paradise falls and was able to rehire clover with both cross and butch following me the I went for the first time and recruited dogmeat and went back for fawkes I'm not sure what exactly cause this exploit but I'll try it again and see if I can get it to work on another save (Xbox 360)Blitzbear93 (talk) 20:13, March 2, 2015 (UTC) Blitzbear93

Possible Extra companion slot exploit - Dogmeat resurrect Edit

So I'll preface this by saying that I haven't really tested this out nor checked if one of my mods may be causing the situation. But anyway, early on in my current playthrough Dogmeat died. Not willing to reload a save or accept his death I resurrected him using the console and then set him to essential. After that, I seem to be able to have two non-Dogmeat companions at a time. I looked on here and noticed the Puppies! exploit and figured it may be the same situation. If so, this would probably allow pc users without BS to get extra companions without the long RL-3 process.
