I can't seem to get this to run, any help? I get the error "Sorry, this product is not supported by this version of windows." Paximilian 01:05, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

This page has a an odd fault, it's talking about "...follow some kids to see Salvatores and Enclavers one of the Wright kids guns..." when that was FO2, it shouldn't be on this page as it obviously couldn't have had those problems. --Fez 07:56, 16 Mar 2005 (GMT)

I've not deleted it as the issue of missing kids is still real, anyone remember any Fallout 1 examples that can replace the Fallout 2 ones on the page? --Fez 19:51, 17 Mar 2005 (GMT)

I don't think there were kids in FO1 that were relevant to any quests... Ausir 22:55, 17 Mar 2005 (GMT)

I can't think of any either. If no one can think of at least one, we could just move the quote/complaint into the Fallout 2 page. I thought it was best to wait to see if someone would correct me.--Fez 01:02, 18 Mar 2005 (GMT)

Weren't there kids in shady sands? But they were just running around doing nothing?Dan 07:46, 18 Mar 2005 (GMT)

I'm pretty sure there were kids in Fallout 1, but nobody seems to remember them because they weren't important at all. --Ashmo 20:15, 11 Jun 2005 (CEST)

There were kids in the Hub which were VERY Annoying as they stole from you and still spoke (although they were invisible!) 01:28, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Fallout is now available for free on GameTap, is this worth mentioning in the article? --Torvus Morio 23:51, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Maybe a general section about current availability (e.g. mentioning also would be a good idea. Ausir 23:54, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Differences between Fallout games[edit source]

Considering there have been a lot of differences between the original 2 games, Tactics, BoS, and now FO3. Would it be a good idea to create a page that lists the differences whether they be level caps, perks, or changes to the skills?

I only ask because I have been looking at the Fallout 3 Special page which basically shows what was changed for that game, but doesn't really give a comparison to say the number of levels or what if any traits other than Bloody Mess survived. I know we only know what has been released or stated in news articles. But in general for all the games in the series. This may provide a broader scope to see what's different. -- (Middle Man 19:47, 1 October 2008 (UTC))

Sure, why not. Something like Gameplay differences between Fallout games ? Ausir 22:33, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good. So how would it be formated? Would we separate it into paragraphs or simply have a table of the differences The games listed vertically on the left side and the gameplay listed horizontally? -- (Middle Man 23:50, 1 October 2008 (UTC))

I'm all for a table of differences to keep it organized, or have links to the respective articles on the chart. So as the reader can judge for themselves.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Aryeonos (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Giant footprints[edit source]

Hey, I'm playing fallout1 for the first time. I came across a giant foot print with a squished peasant in it. It has 3 pointed toes. seriously wtf? can any one explain this to me or atleast point me in the direction of an article on this?

It's a reference to "Bambi vs Godzilla" Goekhan 03:12, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Location Edits[edit source]

I made some edits to the locations here based on references to Google maps and personal experience in the area. Regarding Vault 13, I lived in the town near that Naval Installation for many years and worked on the base for several years as well. I can't confirm the rumors about the supposed underground installation there, but I can tell you that it's a highly resricted area, that there's a large domed water well nestled in the mountain which has no place being there, and that if you approach from behind, heading west on highway 178, you can see a large structure that looks like a big pair of doors for a few fleeting seconds, which may have provided inspiration. Technically Fallout Wiki is located a little too far north on the map for this (about 20 miles) but it's closer than Mt. Whitney, on the east side of the valley where Mt. Whitney is on the west and far to the north, and if you've ever been to Mt. Whitney you'd understand that the mountain is way too large to match the game artwork, and surrounded by other mountains. The large "B" painted on the opposite side of the mountain (a reference to a local high school) also looks an awful lot like the number 13 in block letter style. The location shown on the map is almost exactly on top of a Geothermal plant which provides power to the base, incidentally. -Mr. N

On the Necropolis[edit source]

The Enclave had no business in the Necropolis. That was all Vault-Tec/Pre-war Government, wasn't it?

Console / cheating[edit source]

Is there something like the Fallout 3 console commands in Fallout and Fallout 2? -- Sentinel 101 17:42, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

No. Ausir(talk) 19:34, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

Developer[edit source]

The article wrongfully states that Interplay developed Fallout. The true developer was Black Isle, and it should be edited to say so. The14th 23:05, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

No it shouldn't, BI didn't exist at the time. --Ishotamaninnewreno 02:00, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

Yup, Interplay's RPG division wasn't named "Black Isle" until the development of Fallout 2. And Black Isle was always a part of Interplay, so even in case of Fallout 2 saying that Interplay was the developer would also be correct, if not very specific. Ausir(talk) 02:03, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
That wouldn't be entirely correct. While Interplay did make Fallout, saying that Interplay developed the second is the same as Black Isle developed it is wrong. Take EA and BioWare. Bioware developes the game, EA publishes it, they (EA) don't actually touch the actual game's developement. Unless, of course, Interplay just gave a name to their developer groups, calling them Black Isle, then of course you'd be correct. 22:01, July 3, 2010 (UTC)
Yup, Interplay just named their RPG studio Black Isle, before that it was just a part of Interplay without a separate name. The difference from EA-BioWare is that while BioWare was bought by EA, Black Isle was always Interplay's internal studio. Ausir(talk) 22:27, July 3, 2010 (UTC)

Game Engine[edit source]

Anyone know the game engine they used to make Fallout and Fallout 2? CHIEF Talk to me 16:58, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

It didn't have any name other than "Fallout engine". Ausir(talk) 19:05, March 24, 2011 (UTC)

Facebook Like[edit source]

I am new to this, but when I "like" this page on Facebook from the Wikia, there is a picture of a girl with sunglasses on??? Shouldn't that picture be Fallout related? I could be wrong, but it just seemed odd. Maybe she started the page, but I don't know where to change it. IPurpleCometI 17:43, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

Windows 7 visual problems[edit source]

It seems that I've had better luck than most people, seeing as how my copy of Fallout works on Win 7, but I've experienced many visual problems. The cutscenes are all pixelated and dotted with the colours of the rainbow, and a lot of the time gameplay is the same way. It there a patch to fix this?

Keep in mind that I have the Turkish version. Seth64.178.148.21 23:52, January 14, 2012 (UTC)

Im playing on the UK version and I have the same problem, help

re-release[edit source]

Is there any hope that Fallout 1 and 2, Tatics, and Fallout: BOS will be released as a downloadable bundle or even released on disk for current consoles like PS3 and XBOX 360? There has been a slight trend in classic games being re-released this way but with ownership of these games belonging to interplay and not Bethesda I wonder if it still could happen. -- 03:41, May 28, 2012 (UTC)

United states fallout[edit source]

I have windows 7 Premium. Will the U.S. version work?

version[edit source]

what version of this game do they have on steam?

The article says fallout uses a "pseudo-isometric view" which, while that is true, there's technically a proper name for it, which is Cavalier Oblique (as stated by Timothy Cain himself here: ) and "pseudo-isometric" does make sense, however I feel cavalier oblique would be more accurate.
