Fallout 3[edit source]

Recent screenshots suggest FN FAL would be in Fallout 3 - add this to the info?

It's not FN FAL. While it might look similar and be partly based on it, according to the developers all Fallout 3 weapons are either generic or fictional weapons from Fallout's alternate timeline. Ausir 13:54, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Well I'll find the screenshot - that's crap looked exactly like early version of FN FAL About all guns being alternate-universe....You asked the devs?

They said it in interviews. And I'm on the game's Polish translation team so I can confirm it. Ausir 14:47, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Is this page needed?[edit source]

Is this page really necessary? We already have the FN FAL on the battle rifle page and it seems weird that the FN FAL would be the only one of them that would get its own page. Plus, the only thing on the page with any weight is the background section, with only the first paragraph being an actual background. Couldn't we just merge the background with the FN FAL's section in the battle rifle page? Paladin117>>iff bored; 15:26, January 10, 2015 (UTC)

I think taking just the first paragraph of the Background section and using it as a brief intro for the FN FAL on the Battle Rifle overview page would work well. On the individual, game-specific FN FAL articles though, I'd like to see the entire 3-paragraph Background section used transclusively or from a template. IMO this would be sufficient and an overview page for the FN FAL wouldn't be strictly necessary. It was a mod who suggested that such an overview page be made though. --Malebiped (talk) 15:31, January 11, 2015 (UTC)

Moving this page from a disambiguation page to a redirect[edit source]

Per FW:ORG, and more specifically, Fallout_Wiki:Content_organization_guideline#Disambiguation:

If a given term can refer to multiple articles (i.e. if it is "ambiguous"), the articles should be moved to non-ambiguous (or "disambiguated") titles. A disambiguation page, i.e. a page which links to all possible articles this term may refer to, should then be placed at the ambiguous title.

This page should be a disambiguation page. There are three disambiguated pages, FN FAL (Fallout 2), FN FAL (Fallout Tactics) and FN FAL (night sight) that, by the above policy, require a disambiguation page with this title, not a redirect to an overview page. A forth page, FN FAL HPFA, could easily be included in the disambiguation page. The prior instance of this page was correct, and converting this into a redirect contravenes policy. I am converting the page back into a disambiguation page and asking that it be protected by an admin and no further changes be made to the page until such time as a consensus on further action be made on this article talk page. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons.png 16:11, January 24, 2015 (UTC)
