Deathclaw Gauntlet Isn't Ignoring Damage Resistance[]

Surely this is a known bug, very surprised it isn't mentioned on the page.

It's my first Very Hard playthrough, and I'm looking for one-hit kills against the tougher opponents. I thought the DCG might handle MZ's shielded aliens & BS's hellfire soldiers. With 3x Iron Fist, Better Criticals, Ninja, Superior Defender, Ghoul Ecology, Bloody Mess, and 149 Unarmed, I'd expect a sneak attack to deliver 573 points on Normal, so half that on Very Hard. More than enough to kill either one. But no.

Super Mutant Master takes just under 280. With DR 0, that's almost exactly what's expected (I think my understanding of Bloody Mess is off, or maybe one of the other perks). Sadly, that's not enough, they've got 360.

Hellfire soldier takes about 170, which is almost exactly 60% of what's expected. They have 40% DR. Hello, Novasurge headshot!

I'm on a PC, patched to 1.7, with all DLCs, plus a few mods that I don't think can affect this (Archive Invalidation Invalidated won't work on my machine).

Ignore Normal Weapon Resistance was broken in one of the patches. 1.5 I think, but not sure. Ever since then, Deathclaw attacks are mitigable with DR and the Deathclaw Gauntlet doesn't pierce armor anymore. I don't know if it's fixed in New Vegas or not, but it's a moot point since the Reduce Target Damage Threshold effect works fine. --Kris User Hola 18:04, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

Natural Armor? (FO3)[]

"Attacks with this gauntlet disregard damage resistance from any type of armor including natural armor from creatures such as the radscorpion or ironically, deathclaws themselves"

I've never heard or seen a reference on this site describing a mechanic called "natural armor". So assume the original poster was describing a minimal, or base amount of damage resistance that may enemies have. However, the statement continues on to say that it negates the damage resistance of Deathclaws and Radscorpions. The problem is Deathclaws and Radscorpions don't actually have damage resistance. Even the FO3 Deathclaw page (http://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Deathclaw_%28Fallout_3%29) says:

"Despite having tough hides according to game lore, the deathclaws in the game are simply given a lot of Hit Points rather than Damage Resistance."

I think the problem here is that somehow this page got mixed up with damage threshold removal mechanics in Fallout: New Vegas. From my understanding, the only time the Deathclaw Gauntlet's damage threshold properties come into effect in FO3 is against armor wearing humanoids (raiders, enclave, etc...). Considering this, I'm going to remove the references to the Deathclaw and Radscorpion from the page. --69.204.216.160 16:21, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

I updated my last post for better clarification since someone removed my last edit to the page. In less their is some kind of huge misunderstanding here, I can't think for the life of me why someone (if they read my post) would actually want to keep this incorrect and confusing statement on the page. Going to edit it again.--69.204.216.160 09:50, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
