Trivia[]

Connie was born in Indiana, and married 3 times, and her 2nd husband was the uncle of Belinda Boyd (Muhammad Ali's wife).

Interestingly she named the Rocket 69, and referenced the moon in 1951, when Apollo 11 actually landed on the moon in 1969, although the point might be made that the 69 she was referencing was not a year. Even stranger considering the song was release in May, still a few weeks before the Russian R-1 IIIA-1 launch in July, carrying dogs Tsygan and Dezik was launched into space but not orbit, although the US had been attempting to launch mice into space the year before.

Rocket 69, was supposedly a reference/parody/homage to another song released shortly before by Jack Brenston, Ike Turner, and the Kings of Rhythm called Rocket 88. Rocket 88 was considered by many to be the first "rock and roll" song, but while Brenston's "rocket" is merely a "black convertible top" with "a V-8 motor and this modern design," Connie's rocket was a good deal more spaceworthy, after all "we'll fly through the sky and go out of this world," and "the moon is not too far." - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gbfnh1oVTk0
