Weird...[]

I went to help him kill Motor-Runner, but anytime he got hit, he instantly got decapitated. Didn't matter where he got hit, or what weapon was used to hit him, he was instantly decapitated. Luckily, I had cleared out some of the vault much earlier (Fiends were randomly hostile, even after the (successful) speech check. After killing several of them in the main wings and maintenance wing, they randomly became passive again), and I was able to get him out alive without telling him to go back. Anyway, the main problem is the insta-decapitation. Has that been a problem to anyone else? --Dragon1300 02:33, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

Same thing happens to me. I tried about 5 times to hold his hand through the fiend territory but he dies everytime a sudden breeze hits him. I'm about to just let him die and take his armor and call it a day...I feel bad, but wtf I am suppoed to do about it? I also tried telling him to go back to McCarran on his own but I always find his corpse right outside Fallout Wiki.

I can't say for certain since I told him to limp back to Mccarren rather help me fight Motorrunner but if I had to guess the problem is prolly that hes not in the best shape when you find him in the room he's holed up in and a killshot to his head would be enough to decapitate him The Krypt Angel 15:51, October 30, 2010 (UTC)

Never appeared in Vault 3.[]

I met with Anders outside of Cottonwood Cove during the "Oh My Papa" quest long before entering Vault 3. As a result, he never appeared in Vault 3. When returning to Camp Mccaran a while after visiting Vault 3 (and killing Motor-Runner) he was found at the base. When engaging in conversation with him, he speaks as if we are in Fallout Wiki and the option to treat him and so forth is available. After the conversation, all he says is "I heard you took care of Motor-Runner (...)" as mentioned on his character page. This may be worth mentioning on his character page, as well as Fallout Wiki 3 page and other quests he is related to. Note: There are two characters named "Anders". One is a Great Khan met during the Oh My Pappa quest, and the other is a ranger named BRYCE Anders.

Yes 'Anders' at cottonwood cove is a different Anders.

However, for this Anders, my experience was the same. I killed Motor runner in vault 3..never found or talked to Anders, but when I went back to Mclaren base, Col James Hsu thanked me for freeing him!. 86.176.189.186 14:23, July 10, 2012 (UTC)

Found Dead[]

I've got this unmarked quest too, thing is when I finally make my way to him he is already dead.

Either way i get to him a)walking around freely or b)running and gunning, he is always dead with just bits of his head splattered around the room.

Confirm a second instance of this happening, appears rare, few results on internet.

happened to me as well^^

-- I've figured out that he seems to be wandering into his own landmines and blowing himself up. Not sure how to save him from this grisly fate.

Extremely low health (possibly deliberate?)[]

It is currently impossible to get him out of Vault 3 alive without killing every fiend in his path to the door (or to motor-runner, if you wish to finish the unmarked quest with him.) Even then, my game bugged and I found him dead outside the vault entrance when I exited the complex.

I have two suggestions for anyone who wishes to keep him alive:

1) As I mentioned above, kill EVERY FIEND he might possibly come in contact with on his way to the exit (Make a point to be thorough, as even the most remote raider could possibly kill him while patrolling.) Keep in mind that this method is not a guarantee, and due to his low health it is likely that he will be killed by a passing enemy on his way back (unconfirmed)

2) For those who are not worried about the achievements, simply set him to essential through the console. You can remove essential once he reaches safety, if you wish.

Repeats mission conversation back at McCarran[]

For some reason if I interact with him at McCarran he talks like he's still on the mission. He repeats everything up to the point where you can tell what he should do, however he won't actually follow you or run back to Vault 3 to try to kill Motor-Runner. And he'll do this every time you talk to him. It seems like this might actually be a patch introduced bug, because way back when I finished the quest he responded with the normal "I could have handled it on my own" dialogue.--Darth Oblivion 19:15, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

I can confirm this on PC. so what i did was talk with him, but not start the healing dialogue, then headed back to Camp McCarran got the quest from James Hsu back to vault 3, sold oodles of drugs to Motor-Runner at the 22caps/unit. went and did the great kahan's drug missions, after thoes were completed I went back to v3 medic'd Bryce Anders and told him to go back to Camp McCarran. After he opened the wall pannel, and he was outside, I could initiate dialogue again as if he were sitting in the vault. Even getting more exp by making him work together, though the medic option was gone. I could then ask him to wait or come with me, though he accepted he kept heading for Camp McCarran. After the wait command was given he only had "goodbye" available. On top of that I was able to get 2 Vault 3 maintenance keys and finally when I told him to go to Camp McCarran again, he did the "oh im so bad at this ive lost the key" thing. After I killed Motor-Runner, and headed back to Camp McCarran, I turned in the quest to James Hsu and went to find Bryce Anders. When I did I could start the in-vault dialogue all over again but only the "I have some other questions" section, though when that is asked and gone back you can then speak with him about returning to Camp McCarran. This really out to be added to the bug section or tested on other platforms. Willhelm555 (talk) 04:33, July 10, 2015 (UTC)

I can't find him in Vault 3[]

I played fallout new vegas yesterday and seem to not have find Bryce anders in the recreation room of the vault's enterance even before I killed motor runner could some give me advice? (71.167.132.120 06:20, October 20, 2013 (UTC))

Missing.[]

I have not found him. I cleared the entire vault out, killed everything and freed the three people trapped. Then I was like, "Wait.. isn't there a(n) NCR trooper in here?" So I head to his page and find out his location and I go there and poof, he's not there. So once other people confirm that this has happen to them (clearing the entire vault) then visiting his supposed location, I believe that this, or something to this effect, should be added to the Notes section:

Note: If you clear the vault, and then proceed to go to his location Vault 3, he will not appear.

  • This has only happened to me on the Xbox 360 and not the PS3.
